NELSON, Suzanne

NELSON Suzanne Nelson is survived by Gerry Wilson and her family; Connie, Trevor, Ryan and Jeff. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. at the Red Deer Funeral Home located at 6150 - 67 Street. Donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation (101, 5208 - 53 Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta, T4N 5K2).

BAXTER

BAXTER, Mrs. Gladys Elizabeth Mary Baxter, beloved wife of Mr. Howard Baxter of Red Deer, passed away peacefully with her husband of thirty-one years by her side, after a lengthy illness, at the Foothills Hospital, Calgary, Alberta on Thursday, January 26, 2006 at the age of 70 years. Gladys was born on November 20, 1935 at North Battleford, Saskatchewan. Gladys supported herself through one year of teacher training and returned to North Battleford to teach Grade One. She was honoured that year as the recipient of the "Girl Of The Year" Award which was bestowed upon her by her peers and members of the community. Her teaching career took her around the world and she taught in Inuvik, Scotland, Yellowknife, Toronto and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Gladys was a very gracious and loving wife, step-mother, grandmother, sister and a friend to all. She was completely devoted to her family and loved caring for them and doing many special things for them. She was also a faithful and committed member of the Knox Presbyterian Church in Red Deer. Gladys was a very creative and talented lady who loved to crochet, make beautiful crafts and then adorn her family's home with all her handmade treasures, as well as the many items she lovingly made and gave away. She also loved to garden and her home was beautifully kept inside and out. Gladys was a very special person whose compassion and thoughtfulness touched all those around her. Gladys loved to laugh and her positive perspective and love of life made her a joy to be around. Gladys will be very sadly missed but lovingly remembered and forever cherished in the hearts of her family and her many dear friends. Gladys leaves to mourn her loss, her loving husband and best friend, Howard Baxter of Red Deer, her step-daughter, Shannon (Gideon) Lu of Airdrie and her grandchildren, Amanda and David Lu. She will also be very sadly missed by her sister-in-law, Violet Mackie of Glaslyn, Saskatchewan, her nephews, Richard 'Ricky' (Nancy) Mackie, Wallace 'Wally' (Kathy) Mackie, as well as numerous other relatives, her church family and many dear friends. Gladys was predeceased by her brothers, James Douglas Mackie and William John 'Jock' Mackie. A Public Celebration of Gladys' Life will be held at the Knox Presbyterian Church, 4718 Ross Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation entrusted to the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. PIERCE, Mrs. Vera Jennette Pierce of Red Deer, formerly of Pine Lake, Alberta, beloved wife of the late Mr. Eric Pierce, passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Thursday, January 26, 2006 at the age of 98 years. TERON, Michael

TERON, Michael Mike Teron of Red Deer passed away peacefully at the Ponoka Hospital and Care Center on January 26, 2006 at the age of 90 years. Predeceased by his wife Ester and infant daughter, Mike is lovingly remembered by two daughters Geraldine (Denis) Sanregret of Airdrie, Cynthia Murphy of Red Deer; three sons Gerald of Red Deer, Daryl (Tracy) of Red Deer, Ed (Denise) of Okotoks as well as ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mike was proud to serve Canada as a member of the army during World War II. During his lifetime he farmed in Stenen, Saskatchewan. After moving his family to Alberta in 1965, he worked as a carpenter and owned and operated a variety of businesses. Although being a jack-of-all trades, Mike excelled in his carpentry skills. Mike had a contagious smile and was a friend to all he met. He will be sadly missed. Sincere thanks to Dr. Rafiq and the nurses at Ponoka Hospital and Care Center, as well as the staff at the Northcott Care Center. At Mike's request, no funeral service will be held. A private family Interment will take place at the Queen's Park Cemetery in Calgary, Alberta. In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta. MEERES, Edwin

MEERES, Edwin Ramsey (Ted) October 18th 1940 - January 20th 2006 Ted died suddenly at home in Morinville. He leaves behind those he loved; his wife Margaret Paterson; son Andrew; daughters Ruth (Roy) and Mary; and by his grandchildren: Dara, Christopher, Benjamin and Logan. He was predeceased by his daughter Elizabeth. A Celebration of Ted's life will be held at the Morinville United Church on Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at 2:00 pm with Reverend Karen Gusek officiating. In lieu of flowers, friends who so wish may make memorial donations directly to their local food bank or to the Morinville United Church.

McKINNON

McKINNON Mr. Donald Miles McKinnon passed away peacefully at the Rocky Mountain House (Alberta) Hospital at the age of 90 years. Miles was born in Regina, SK. After graduating from high school, he took over the family farm. Miles farmed until he was called away for duty during WWII. After the war, he returned to farm where he raised his family. Miles retired from farming in 1978 and lived in Cupar until he and Victoria moved to Red Deer, AB in 1997. Miles will be remembered as the strong, sensible, patient, and fair man he always was. He was preceded by his life long love, Victoria in 2001. Miles will be greatly missed by his children, Christine (Brian) Symmes, Duncan McKinnon, Neil (Brenda) McKinnon, and Joan (John) Thomas, eight grandchildren, one sister, Rebecca Young, as well as numerous family, nieces, nephews and friends. Miles was truly a "Gentleman" in all aspects of the word. A Memorial Service will be held from the Chapel of Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287- 67 A Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Monday, January 30th, 2006 at 1:00 pm with the Reverend Father Paul Kavanagh officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, #6, 5015-48th Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta T4N 1S9. In living memory of the Late Donald Miles McKinnon, a tree will be planted in the Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium Memorial Tree Park.

NORTHCOTT, It

NORTHCOTT, It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden death of Darrel Edward Northcott on January 21, 2006 at the age of 62. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend of 26 years Janice, his two sons Sean and Jared (Rosa) and his daughter Kelly, along with his two grandsons Ethan and Simon. Darrel is also survived by his parents Harold and Janetta Northcott of Milo, AB. Darrel was born on September 24, 1943 in St. Thomas, Ontario. He grew up on a farm near Milo, AB and moved to Calgary after graduation from high school to attend SAIT. After completing his diploma in Industrial Electrical Technology he worked for Calgary Power and later worked for Xerox in both Calgary and Lethbridge. After 20 years at Xerox, Darrel and Janice moved to Red Deer to open CopiesNOW. Recently Darrel and Janice built their dream home on Sylvan Lake and Darrel enjoyed puttering around the lake and property. Darrel was a prominent member of the community and was involved in various organizations, including the Red Deer Optimist Club, Red Deer Public Library Association and the Red Deer Chamber of Commerce. He will be greatly missed by his brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, cousins, co-workers and friends. Janice and the children invite all family and friends to an open house celebration of Darrel's life on Thursday, January 26, 2006 from 1:00 pm - 7:00 p.m. at their home in Sylvan Lake (91 Grand Avenue, Norglenwold). McNALLY

McNALLY Mary Jane McNally of Red Deer passed away at the Red Deer Hospice on Thursday, January 19, 2006 at the age of 69 years. Mary Jane was born in Lindsay, Ontario and was known to those around her as a quiet and private woman but very willing to speak her mind when she felt so inclined. A slender woman, often seen out and about wearing her baseball cap, Mary Jane will be remembered by many staff members of the Wal-Mart and other stores and food vendors located in the Parkland Mall. She often frequented the Parkland Mall to shop and to spend time enjoying a coffee and a good book. Mary Jane loved to read and often visited the Red Deer Public Library. She was also a supporter of Red Deer Transit for many years as this was her sole means of transport. Mary Jane will be lovingly remembered by the "Morgan" family forever. A funeral service for the Late Mary Jane McNally will be held from the Chapel of Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 - 67A Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, January 26, 2006 at 7 pm. HUGET, Elsie

HUGET, Elsie (nee Hoven) Elsie Huget, Beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother passed away January 10, 2006 at the age of 85 years. Elsie was born in Germany January 6, 1921 and came to Canada at the age on one and half years. She was raised on a farm with her mother, stepfather, five sisters and one brother. She married Gordon Huget at the age of seventeen and together they proceeded to raise their own family. Elsie worked most of her life but she still managed to keep a spotless home and was one of the best homemakers ever. She loved nothing more than on her day off to cook for ten to fifteen people. With every meal there always had to be at least three desserts. Elsie also loved to sew and embroider. She was a wonderful mother. Elsie leaves to mourn her daughter Doreen (Joe), son Gerald (Eva) and her son Dale (Hanna) and June Huget. Also eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters, Ruth of B.C., Vera of B.C., Esther of Ontario and Dolly of Calgary. Elsie was predeceased by her husband Gordon in October 1999. Her mother and stepfather, one sister Irma, and one brother Phillip. We loved her dearly and will miss her forever. A special thank you to the nursing staff and Remy at the Rosefield Extended Care Hospital for taking such good care of Mom for the past six and a half years. A private family service will be held at a later date.

CARLSON Mr. Morgan Carlson of Red Deer, passed away at the Foothills Provincial General Hospital, Calgary, Alberta on Friday, January 20, 2006 at the age of 45 years. Morgan leaves to mourn his loss, his loving parents, Harold and Julia Carlson, brother, Lawrence (Judy) Carlson, all of Red Deer, brother, Norris (Wendy) Carlson of Morinville, Alberta and two nephews, Paul and Carl Carlson. A Public Memorial Service will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapels, 4820 - 45th Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, January 26, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Cremation entrusted to the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. Interment will be held at the Alto-Reste Cemetery, Red Deer, Alberta. CHALMERS, Elsie

CHALMERS Elsie Marie Chalmers (Sweet) born December 10, 1931 passed away peacefully on January 23, 2006. Elsie was predeceased by her husband of 24 years Ed Erickson of Killam, Alberta. She was very proud of her three sons Gregory (Barb) of Lacombe, Craig (Kelly) of Lacombe, and Darcy (Marlene) of Sherwood Park. "Grandma Elsie" is lovingly remembered by her 10 grandchildren Crystal (Darryl), Carl, Carolyn, Brandon (Kim), Candice (Cole), Jenna, Tyler, Luke, Jessica, and Nicholas. Elsie is also survived by her sisters Bertha Smith of Ponoka, Joyce Baird of Lacombe, Gloria Bodnerchuk of St. Albert, Susan (Dennis) Umrysh of Camrose, and one brother Walter (Jo) Sweet of Camrose, and numerous nieces and nephews. Elsie was born in Lacombe to Laroy and Florence Sweet and lived in the Morningside area. She worked at the Lacombe hospital for a few years until she married Ronald Chalmers in 1953 and started raising a family. In 1983 when the children were grown, Elsie relocated to Killam. Ed and Elsie spent many winters in Arizona at Apache Junction with some very special friends. Elsie lived in Killam until Ed's passing in February 2005. She then relocated in October 2005 to Lacombe where she resided until her passing. In loving remembrance of someone so very special...We will miss you Mom. Funeral services will be held from St. Andrew's United Church, Lacombe, Alberta on Friday, January 27, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Cremation entrusted to Central Alberta Crematorium. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, #6 5015 48 St., Red Deer, Alberta T4N 1S9 or to the charity of one's choice.
