HAWKSWORTH - Marc Daniel Hawksworth passed away in Mirror, Alberta on January 14, 2006 at the age of 20 years. Marc was born in Red Deer on October 23, 1985. Marc attended school in Mirror from Kindergarten through Grade 9 and then went on to Lacombe Composite High School where he graduated from Grade 12. He was a good student and received awards for his fine work in carpentry. Marc was a conscientious young man who succeeded in anything he turned his hand to. He began developing his good work ethics by undertaking a paper route during grade school, delivering the Red Deer Advocate in Mirror for a period of three years. Being a homebody, Marc chose to work close to the home and family he loved, and began a career with the Tire Shop in Bashaw. This gave him the opportunity to work on his car, which was his first passion. He liked to fish, but also enjoyed traveling around Alberta, just to visit new places, see new things, always returning home. Marc also enjoyed the company of his many friends and was well liked by all those who knew him. His love for his family was expressed by his thoughtfulness and caring ways, always remembering them wherever he was. Marc is survived by his parents, Lisa and Walter Hawksworth; one sister, Mandy; two half-sisters Rosallee and Tamara; many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and neighbors in and around Mirror. A Funeral Service for Marc will be held in the Mirror Community Hall on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. If friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Mirror School or a charity of your choice. JANZ - Orlando W. Janz passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at the age of 82 years. Orlando will be lovingly remembered by his family. HUDDLESTON, William
HUDDLESTON - William Huddleston was born in Blackburn Lancashire, England on March 3, 1905 and passed away in Victoria into the presence of his Lord on January 10, 2006 at the age of 100 years. Bill came to Calgary, in 1912 with his parents and siblings. He completed his education in Calgary, graduating from Business College at the age of sixteen. He took his first job as a male steno with the Royal Crown Soap Company at the high wage of $75 per month. In 1923, Bill began work with the Robin Hood Flour Company in Calgary, and then moved to Edson for two years with the Canadian National Railway. He settled in Red Deer in 1933 to manage the Red Deer Grain Company. Bill was invited to join the Canadian Wheat Board in 1936 and worked for the Board until his retirement in 1970. Bill married Isobel MacLean in 1936, his wife of sixty-nine years. During his retirement, Bill and Isobel moved to Victoria, B.C. to enjoy fishing, tennis, ice-skating and walking. His main interests were his Christian faith, his home and family. Bill was a life member of Gideons International. William is survived by his wife Isobel of Victoria; two sons: Dick and his wife Cheryl Cooney of Red Deer, Mark and his wife Betna of Red Deer. Bill enjoyed time with his seven grandchildren: Bill and Amanda Huddleston and his great grandson Clark of Calgary; Brent and Susan Huddleston and his great granddaughter Marissa and great grandson Laughan of Edmonton; Brad Huddleston of Edmonton; and Christopher, MacKenzie, Mathew and Calista of Red Deer. A Memorial Service celebrating his life was held in Victoria on Saturday January 14. A graveside service will be held in Red Deer at a later date.
SAMBROOK, Laura
SAMBROOK, Laura - Laura Margaret Sambrook passed away peacefully, with family by her side on January 5, 2006. Laura was born April 4, 1919 in Bentley, Alberta. Laura was predeceased by her husband, Julien Sambrook, her parents Grover and Lily Robson and brother Alan Robson. Laura is survived by her brother Russell (Joyce) Robson of Rimbey, son Roly(Brenda) of Olds, son Bill of Calgary an grandson Jason (Corrie) & great grandson Triston of Sundre, numerous nieces and nephews, and special friend Sharon. Laura was raised on a farm in Bentley Lockhart area. Laura and Julien were married in 1941, and farmed in the Eckville area, until Julien suffered form polio. They moved to the town of Eckville, where Laura worked at the school for many years as a librarian, then a secretary. Laura loved music and played every Sunday at the Presbyterian Church. Laura loved the outdoors, gardening, bird watching, she especially loved flowers, she loved to crochet and knit and read. All that knew her will miss her dearly, she was a very warm and kind person that touched the lives of many. Donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. There will be no service until a later date provided by Wilson's Funeral Chapel Rimbey.
BLACK, Clifford
BLACK - Clifford Carl Black, born October 25, 1942 in Russell, Manitoba, passed away suddenly in Jackson, Mississippi on December 25, 2005. Cliff spent his formative years in Foxwarren and the surrounding area. After finishing school, Cliff enlisted in the Canadian Airforce. He served across the country and over-seas. He also travelled around the world with the military. Cliff remained in the Airforce until 1992, when he retired as a Sergeant. After walking his daughter, Dana Marie, down the aisle in 1992, Cliff moved to Red Deer, Alberta. Here, Cliff held numerous delivery positions to keep himself busy. His final position took him to the Jackson, Mississippi area, where he passed away from a heart- attack. During his life, Clifford served his country, travelled the world, walked his daughter down the aisle, and sent his son, Mark Alexander, to university. He enjoyed traveling and sports, and loved his family. He was quick to make friends anywhere he went. He will be missed by all. Clifford Carl Black was pre-deceased by: his father, Alexander Black; his mother, Harriet (Hattie) Black (Brady); three brothers, Donald Alexander, John Allan Duncan, Walter Alexander; three sisters, Margaret (Peggy) Katheline Young, Mae Johnston, and Grace Hazel Johnston. He is survived by his: brother Donald Black; sister Annie Ellen Carr; daughter Dana Marie Carole Burgess (Philip Burgess); son Mark Alexander Black (Krista Brown); grand-daughters Kalista Katarina Brown-Black, Ariel Grace Burgess, Bridget Morgan Burgess; grand-son Duncan Stanley Burgess; and many nephews and nieces. The funeral was held January 7, 2006 from the Braendle-Bruce Funeral Chapel in Russell, Manitoba. The Reverend Dwight Rutherford presided. Interment followed in the Foxwarren Cemetery. PRIMAS - Wanda Alice Primas (nee Schnee) of Red Deer passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 4, 2006 at the Red Deer Nursing Home at the age of 91 years. Wanda was a lovely lady who took great pride in her appearance and her surroundings. Her biggest joy in life was her caring and supportive family. A long time wish was to have a great grandchild, which was granted by the arrival of Riley. Wanda will be sadly missed but forever cherished in the hearts of her son Edward (Barbara), grandchildren Patrick (Jennifer), Paul and Erin, and one niece, Rita Schwartz. Wanda was predeceased by her husband Frederick in 1973. A private graveside service will be held. MALCOLM - Ron Malcolm passed away at Innisfail on January 9, 2006, after his second battle with cancer. Ron was born on February 16, 1937 to Frank and Anne Malcolm of Innisfail. He was predeceased by his parents and his infant brother Roger. He leaves to mourn his loving wife and partner of 47 years Alice; sons Rodger (Lori), Randy (Jannine) and three beloved grandchildren Steven, Michael and Hanna, Rick (Bonnie); sisters Leona Malcolm and Judy Roschlaub and their families. RILEY, Mildred - Mildred Irene Riley, aged 85, passed away peacefully January 8, 2006 at the Ponoka Hospital Care Centre. Mildred is survived by her family Gord and Peggy Adams and their children Kimberly and Robert of Vernon, B.C.; her brother Pat Adams and sister-in-law Dolores of Edmonton; sister Beatrice Giesbrecht and brother-in-law Henry of Calgary; sister-in-law Joyce Adams; and close friends Ray and Lynn Miller of Ponoka and their daughters JeriLee, Stacey and Janel; as well as many nieces and nephews and other relatives. A special thank you is extended to her nieces Darlene MacDonald and Gloria Gasco who provided loving care to Mildred over the past several years. BAXTER, Leslie
BAXTER, Leslie Ray (Les) - Les, beloved husband for 56 years of Amanda of Sylvan Lake; passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Sunday, January 8, 2006 at the age of 82. He leaves Amanda and their children: Susan (Glen) Millis, Blair (Gail), Laurie (Peter) Hodgins, Lorne (Kelly), twelve grandchildren and his sister Freda Day of Duncan, B.C., two sisters-in-law, Helen Runzer, Ellen Kirby and several nieces and nephews. Les was predeceased by his parents, brother Harold and sister Dorothy. Les was born near Crossfield to Emma and Fred in 1923. He was a veteran of WWII, serving with the Royal Canadian Navy on the HMCS Meon. Les started his married life and career as a machinist in Nobleford, Alberta. He had a long career with the City of Calgary Transit, retiring in 1979. Amanda and Les moved to Sylvan Lake in 1990. Les enjoyed boating and in later years took pleasure working with the model steam engine club in Bragg Creek and then in Airdrie. Family was very important to Les and he loved seeing his children and grandchildren having fun at the lake. His career became his hobby in retirement spending many happy hours in his machine shop. WALLBAUM, Marianne - On Monday, December 13, Mrs. Marianne Wallbaum of Vermilion passed away suddenly at the University Hospital in Edmonton at the age of 45 years.
