Mrs. Valera Irene Barker (nee Jellison) beloved wife of the late Mr. Leslie Barker, passed away after a lengthy illness at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Wednesday, December 15, 2004 at the age of 82 years. Irene was born at Coronation, Alberta on November 4, 1922. In 1942, Irene moved to Vancouver to engage in war work, and served as a telephone operator. While there she met and married her life companion of 38 years, Leslie Barker. The couple had no children. In 1948, Irene and Les returned to Red Deer where she worked for many years. Leslie Predeceased Irene on November 4, 1982. Irene was very family oriented, giving and receiving much love from all her nieces and nephews as well as their children. She enjoyed researching family genealogy and devoted much time to the Historical Society, the Norwegian Lafthus, the Red Deer Museum and many other organizations. She was very devoted to charity work, she taught Sunday School and loved to play Bridge. Irene leaves to mourn her passing, Sister Shirley (Carl) Bettenson of Red Deer, Elaine and Richard Savidant of Summerside, P.E.I. and Donna Reyda also of Red Deer. Her memory will be further cherished by her nieces and nephews: Douglas (Jane) Bettenson, Lee Conklin and Carol Bettenson all of Red Deer, Brent Savidant of Michigan, U.S.A., Gale Savidant of P.E.I, Paul Reyda, Michael Reyda and Penny Reyda of Red Deer as well as Susan Reyda and Virginia Reyda of Vancouver. Funeral Services for the late Mrs. Irene Barker will be held at Gaetz Memorial United Church, 4758 Ross Street, Red Deer on Monday, December 20, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend Fran Hare officiating. Internment will follow at the Red Deer Cemetery. If friends so desire, a donation in the name of the late Mrs. Irene Barker may be made to the Red Deer and District Museum, 4525 - 47A Avenue, Red Deer, T4N 6Z6. In living memory of Mrs. Irene Barker, a tree will be planted in the Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium Memorial Tree Park.
COOP, Hedy
Hedy Coop (Quarg) passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on December 13, 2004 at the age of 90 years. Hedwig Elisabeth Buegler was born in Bern, Switzerland and after being educated in Europe and learning several languages fluently, she moved to Ghana, Africa to marry Kurt Quarg. After W.W. II ended, Hedy immigrated to Canada with her husband and daughter, moving to Red Deer in 1951. Kurt passed away in 1963 and in 1965 Hedy married John Coop. They lived several years in Uranium City, Saskatchewan and later retired back to Red Deer. When John passed away in 1998, Hedy moved into Parkvale Lodge until her recent illness. She is survived by her daughter, Eva (Grant) Walker, five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Hedy is also survived by her stepsons; Anthony (Margaret) Coop and John Jr. (Evelyn) Coop, one stepdaughter, Marlene Harrison, four step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews living in Germany. As per Hedy's request there will be a private, family, Graveside Service with a Memorial Service to follow in January. KEEBLER, Maurice
Mr. Maurice Charles Keebler of Calgary, Alberta, formerly of Red Deer, passed away at his home in Calgary on Sunday, December 12, 2004 at the age of 71 years. Maurice was born on April 2, 1933 at Blueberry Mountain, Alberta. He loved fixing up old cars in his spare time and was very good at doing most anything that needed to be fixed or taken care of. Maurice was a strong willed and determined man who liked to speak his mind. None-the-less, he had a heart of gold and was very caring and thoughtful toward his family and others. Doing things for others always came first. Maurice also had a great sense of humour. Maurice will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by his family and friends. Maurice leaves to mourn his loss, his loving children, daughter, Kim Keebler of Red Deer and son, Kirby Keebler of Calgary, six grandchildren, Natasha, Kurtis, Krista, Bryan, Kara and Kelly and a great grandson, Elias and his children's mother, Shirley. He is also survived by three brothers, Herbert, Irvin and Gary and two sisters, Violet and Donna, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Maurice was predeceased by a son, Kevin, his mother, Jean, his father, Herb and a brother, Lester. TRENAMAN, Anna
MRS. Anna Trenaman beloved wife of the late Mr. Bob Trenaman passed away at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital on Monday, December 13, 2004 at the age of 94 years. She is survived by her daughter Joyce (Glenn) Plowman of Lethbridge, one granddaughter Pat (Tim) Minor of Lacombe, one grandson Kerry Plowman of Dallas, Texas, two great-grandchildren Katelyn and Callum Minor. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law Lyla Warren, Helen Trenaman and Cecilia Zak as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Bob, two sons Russell and Edward and one grandson Stewart Plowman. Ann was born at Corbin, BC on September 11, 1910 to Andrew and Rozalia Zak. As her father was a coal miner the family lived in various places including Michelle, Corbin, Bellevue, Mountain Park and Codomin. In 1919 the family moved to their farm east of Delburne and Ann attended Woodlake School. On March 29, 1932 she married Bob Trenaman and together they farmed at Delburne until 1947 when they moved to Red Deer. After Bob's death in 1948, Ann worked as a Library Assistant at the Red Deer Public Library and the Red Deer Museum. Ann' s family wish to express their sincere thanks to the many friends who remembered her with cards and letters and took time to visit her during her stay at the Pines Lodge in Red Deer and the Sunny South Lodge in Coaldale. It was Ann's request that no funeral service be held.

WALKER
WALKER, A. Rae - Mrs. A. Rae Walker of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away peacefully at Ponoka, on Wednesday, December 15, 2004 at the age of 81 years. Rae was born on July 15, 1923 at Donalda, Alberta to John and Almeda Clement. In 1947, Rae married her husband, Albert. She was a loving and devoted mother who cared deeply for her family. Rae spent fourteen years working at Deerhome and another twelve years at the Alberta Hospital at Ponoka. She was also a long time member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Royal Canadian Legion and enjoyed camping, traveling and doing crafts. During the last few years, Rae enjoyed living at the Victoria Park Lodge, where she made many dear friends and had happy memories. Rae will be very sadly missed but lovingly remembered and cherished in the hearts of her family and dear friends. Rae leaves to mourn her loss, her children, Dale (Yonika) Walker of Pine Lake, Brenda (Doug) Smith and Maureen (Cliff) Raher, both of Red Deer, five grandchildren, Kerry, Megan, Christa, Jenna and Kyle and ten great grandchildren. She will also be sadly missed by her sister, Vilota Douglas of Edmonton, Alberta, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Rae was predeceased by her beloved husband, Albert, her parents, a brother, Henry and a grandchild, Curtis. WILLIAMS, John
WILLIAMS, John Harry - John Harry Williams passed away at the Red Deer Nursing Home on December 11th at the age of 84. Harry was born and raised in Clive, Alberta. He served in the Air Force during WW11. When he came back from WW11 he met his wife Betty. They moved to Edmonton, where Harry worked for companies like Traders Finance and Kordyban Transport and was very involved with Air Cadets. Harry moved to Berwyn, Alberta and took over ownership of the Berwyn Hotel. He continued on in the hotel/motel business in Galahad, Drumheller and Wainwright, where he also managed the Worthington #29 Legion. He then semi-retired to Red Deer where he worked for Sutton Group Realty. Harry was actively involved with the Royal Canadian Legion in all of the communities he lived. Harry is predeceased by his wife Betty, sisters, Doris, Margaret, Grace and Ruth. He is survived by his sister Jean, daughter Shannon, son Milton (Marianne) and seven grandchildren, Blake, Blaine, John, Andrew, Cordell, Daniel and James. SCHINNOUR, Lloyd George - Lloyd George Schinnour, beloved husband of Shirley Schinnour of Pine Lake, Alberta, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family on Sunday, December 12, 2004 at the age of 73 years. Lloyd was the owner of Olde Tyme Antiques until his retirement in 2003. He enjoyed the quiet and solitude of his garden and his flowers during the summer months. The best medicine of all to Lloyd was the love and companionship of his devoted cat, Calvin. Lloyd will be very sadly missed but lovingly cherished in the hearts of his family and dear friends. Lloyd leaves to mourn his loss, his loving wife, Shirley and their children; Allan (Georgi), Rex (Linda), Ken (Marcie), Ron (Cathy), Gary (Jane), Bruce (Debbie), and Brian, seven grandsons, thirteen granddaughters and three great grandchildren.
