WRIGHT - William “Bill” John Wright, beloved husband of Alfreda Wright, passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Thursday, May 5, 2005 at the age of 76 years. Bill was born in Tisdale, SK January 13, 1929 and spent his “growing up years” on the farm near Ridgedale, SK. After moving to Alberta in 1948, Bill pursued a varied career in trucking, retail, bulk oil, farming, trailer manufacturing, and upholstery. He lived in Edmonton, Hay River, Peace River, Wetaskiwin, and Red Deer during this time. Due to poor health, Bill retired from Wright’s Upholstery at 55 and struggled with his health until his passing. A committed Christian, devoted husband, proud father and grandfather, Bill was a true friend who spent his life keeping in touch with those he cared about; in some cases these friendships spanned more than 50 years. Bill is survived by his wife, Alfreda and his well-loved family: Jim and Peggy Wright, Red Deer; Audrey and Jerry Rose, Saskatoon; Marie and Alan McNaughton, Calgary; Margaret and Tim Goode, Lacombe; Faye and Andy Hamilton, Edmonton. He will be missed by his grandchildren: Joy (Tyler), Paul, Dan, David, Stephen, Carol, Michael, Nathan, Adam, Philip, Charlotte, and Jonathan; three brothers, Hugh (Edna), Bruce, Jim (Mary) and two sisters, Mary and Mabel (Jack); plus many extended family and friends. A memorial service will be held at CrossRoads Church, 38105 Range Road 275, Red Deer County (on 32nd Street, west of Hwy. #2) on Monday, May 9, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastors Dan Cochrane and Stu Krogman officiating. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the CrossRoads Church Building Fund, 38105 Range Road 275, Red Deer County, AB T4S 2N4 or a charity of your choice. PFEIL - Hans Karl Pfeil of Red Deer passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at the age of 76 years. Hans will be lovingly remembered by his family; loving wife Hilde of 46 years; children Tom (Charleen), Lorraine (Daryl), Alfred (Tracy); 4 grandchildren, Kelsey, Breanne, Krista and Kayla; 2 sisters and one brother in Germany, as well as numerous relatives and friends. WEIDENHAMER - Mrs. Catherine Agnes Weidenhamer (nee Robertson) of Red Deer passed away peacefully in her sleep at Ashley Cottage on Thursday, May 5, 2005 at the age of 91. She was born on March 20, 1914 at Athalmer, B.C.. Catherine grew up and spent many years in Calgary before marrying Earl and moving to Red Deer where they made their home and their only child was born. She spent many years working as a comptroller in the dairy industry, firstly with the Union Milk Company in Calgary, then Silverwoods and Alpha Dairy in Red Deer. Due to declining health, Catherine resided until her passing at Woodlea Cottage and then Ashley Cottage. Catherine is survived and will be lovingly remembered by her son Stuart (Debbie) of Red Deer and grandsons, Kristofer of Red Deer and Jason of Edmonton. She will be fondly remembered by her extended family. Catherine was predeceased by husband Earl, her brother Stuart and her mother Catherine Stuart Robertson. In respecting Catherine’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Red Deer Hospice Society, P.O. Box 22015, Red Deer, Alberta T4N 6X4 or to the charity of the donors choice. RAYMOND - Percy Harold Raymond went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at the age of 90 at McKinney Place, Oliver, B.C. Survived by his loving family, wife of 65 years, Edna of Penticton; daughters, Linda (Frede) Poulsen of Westbank, Elaine (Lyle) Gabrielson of Fort McMurray, Alberta and Nancy (Ron) Eby of Red Deer, Alberta; 6 grandchildren, Sherry (Glen) Borsheim, Darren (Spring) Poulsen, Brent Gabrielson, Randy (Martyna) Gabrielson, Michelle (Brad) Prather and Chad (Kristi) Eby; four great grandchildren, Saira and Damon Poulsen, Mckenna and Grayson Prather; step great-grandchildren, Braedyn, Aaron and Coleton Morgan and Zachary Taylor and their mother Jai-Lee; sister-in-laws, Vie and Betty Elkin as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers, Gordon and Clifford and sisters, Mildred and Mae. Percy was born and raised in Delburne, Alberta. He graduated from Prairie Bible Institute. During the war he worked in Nordegg Alberta and then returned to the Red Deer area and farmed, worked as a groundskeeper and in real estate. He was Canadian President of Mission Steers for a number of years. Retiring to Penticton in 1979 he became an avid golfer. He and Edna worked at Mystery Village Tourist Attraction in Okanagan Falls for a few years. Percy was very active in the Alliance Church in Red Deer and Penticton. A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, May 6, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. at the Penticton Alliance Church, 197 Brandon Avenue, Penticton. BALDWIN, Donald
BALDWIN - Donald Howard Baldwin passed away on April 30, 2005 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital at the age of 79 years. Don will be fondly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Olivia; son, Stephen and his wife Robin; his granddaughter, Carla Woodruff; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Don served in the Canadian Navy in the World War II. He was involved in sports, managing the Calgary Winter Club, Glencoe Club, Red Deer Curling Club and Lacombe Golf Club. Don will be remembered for his generosity, kindness and sense of humor. In keeping with Don's wishes, no service will be held. MABB - Mrs. Kaye Mabb passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Friday, April 1, 2005, at the age of 78 years. Kaye was born in Red Deer and had a passion for volunteering in such groups as the Cronquist House, the G.H. Dawe Buddy Reading Program, the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Cancer Society. She was an Honorary Life Member of the Beta Sigma Phi and was instrumental in the Alberta Highland Dance Association and several Highland Games in Red Deer. She was also an Honorary Life Member of the Red Deer Exhibition Association, and a long time active member of Knox Presbyterian Church. Kaye was the owner of “A Wee Neuk”, a Scottish Supply Store which she owned and operated. Kaye is survived by her son, Richard (Cris) Mabb of Toronto, her daughter, Katherine (Rob) of Lethbridge, her three grandchildren; Curtis and Stephanie Butler and Elizabeth Mabb, her sister, Jean (Fred) Lamb of Westbank, her niece, Diane (Wayne) Newton of Westbank; as well as her nephews, John and Stewart (Mel) Worth. Kaye was predeceased by her husband, The Reverend Warren Mabb, a former Alderman of Red Deer and her parents, John and Joan Drever. ERICKSON, Norma
ERICKSON - Norma Lucille Erickson passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on April 2, 2005 at the age of 84 years. She was born to Norwegian parents, Charlie and Marie Erickson on October 16, 1920 in Didsbury, Alberta. Norma spent her childhood and early adult life in Bergen and it was there that she provided care and nurturing for many members of her large family. This care, concern and generosity also extended through the generations of her extended family. Each niece and nephew was well loved by her as she guided them toward good choices in life. She kept the family connected through time and change and welcomed each addition to the family with an open heart and open arms. Norma attended university in Calgary and Edmonton to complete her Bachelor of Education. Her teaching career spanned many years, beginning at Poplar Creek, Sundre and finally Red Deer. She was a much loved Grade One teacher at Grandview School. Norma delighted in the antics and innocence of her young pupils and enriched their education with music, art and concert presentations. Norma was a faithful supporter of Bethany Baptist Church in Red Deer and its mission. Norma took up numerous sports and traveled extensively, making friends wherever she went. She was well known for her deep faith, generosity, sense of adventure and her elegant wardrobe. Norma was predeceased by her parents and her older brothers and sisters. She is survived by her brother Charles; sister-in-law Helen Erickson Mewha; special niece and caregiver Joan McMaster; special nephew Paul Erickson; faithful friends Irene Giatant and Margaret McKinnon and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
