JEFFERS, Edna Marjorie - Edna Marjorie (Madge) Jeffers passed away on January 27, 2005, at the age of 85 years. Madge was born in Wawota, Saskatchewan on April 13, 1919. She grew up in Saskatchewan with her brother and two sisters. Madge joined the Canadian Armed Services, serving in the WAC through World War II, and was stationed in England and Belgium. She spent most of her working career with Saskatchewan Power Corporation in Regina. After retirement, in 1988, Madge moved to Red Deer, Alberta to be near her only child Bryon (his fiancé Evelyn Evans), her two grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her brother, Eric Syme, and her sister, Lillian Vye. Madge is survived by her son, Bryon Jeffers of Red Deer, her granddaughter, Jackie Lowe of Red Deer, her grandson Sean Jeffers of Calgary, her three great-grandchildren, Cali, Chelsea, and Tevin all of Red Deer, as well as her sister Kathleen (Kot) Maitland of Nanaimo, B.C. She was happiest when with her family. The years in Red Deer were full, happy years. She and her son Bryon, visited Las Vegas at least once a year. It was a vacation she dearly loved, where she could spend time with Bryon and the rest of the family gambling, shopping, and laughing. Madge had a kind, generous nature, always caring for and helping people whenever needed. She worked with the Christmas Bureau for a number of years, and also with the United Way. She always had a warm smile for everyone she knew or met. Even in her last years, the caregivers that helped her said she had a smile that "lit up the room". Everyone who was touched by Madge is richer for the experience. There will be a small memorial service to celebrate Madge's life on this earth. Madge's dearest friends and relatives are invited to gather with the family to say good-bye on January 31st, 2005 at Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 - 67A Street, Red Deer, Alberta at 11:00 a.m. with The Venerable Archdeacon Derek Hoskin officiating. If friends desire, memorial donations in Madge's name may be directed to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, #101, 5208 - 53 Avenue, Red Deer, AB T4N 5K2. . MULROONEY, Daniel
Daniel Blazius Mulrooney died peacefully October 9th, 2004 following a heart attack at 82 years old. He had been living in Revelstoke, B.C. for many years. Dan spent 3 years in WW II and returned safely, thank God. He loved animals; and after moving into the extended care hospital, he fed rabbits, squirrels, gophers and even crows would come for a chat. Many of the animals ate right out of his hand. He is fondly remembered there as "Dan the Bunny Man". He leaves two sons, Danny, Rick and their families. Numerous nieces, nephews and friends, and is also survived by his loving sister, Patricia Boomer of Calgary. God Bless Him. May he rest in peace.
CROSBY, Harold Edwin CROSBY
July 20, 1925 - Jan. 19, 2005
Harold Edwin Crosby passed away peacefully surrounded by his family after a short battle with cancer. Harold was a true-blue Calgarian who was born in Calgary and was very proud to be a member of the Native Calgarians Society. During his youth he worked as a Caddy at the Calgary Golf and Country Club, and from there he went to work for the CPR for forty-five years until his retirement in 1986. Harold was also active in the Army Reserves from 1943 to 1965. Harold was predeceased by his brother Ted and sisters, Bobbi (Florence) and Ivy and by a daughter Vicky Doreen in 1954. Harold has been fortunate to live a long and healthy life surrounded by his family and many friends. He is survived by his wife Doreen and their children, Linda Thudium (Rolf, Calvin, Tonia, Mandy); Todd (Pam, Erin, Adam); Grant (Sandy); Wayne (Rose, Marissa). In addition, he is survived by four great grandchildren, Brady, Dylan, Chase and Hunter. He is also loved and will be missed by many life long friends including his sister-in-law Bernice Elmgren and her family as well as many nieces and nephews and their families. Harold loved life and being active; he was involved in bowling, camping with his friends in the Friendly One's RV Club, golf (in his earlier years), hockey through his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nothing gave him greater pleasure than to attend and watch his offspring, as they were involved in many activities. A Memorial Celebration of Harold's Life will be held at Northmount Baptist Church, 451 Northmount Drive NW, next Sunday, January 30 at 3:00 p.m. Friends, who desire may, in lieu of flowers, donate to the charity of their choice or the Rosedale Hospice. WHILLIER, Mary
WHILLIER (nee GANT) - Mary Emily Whillier passed away in the Ponoka Hospital & Care Center on January 26, 2005 at the age of 93 years, 11 months. She was born on the homestead four miles west of Gilby, Alberta on February 20, 1911. She spent her first 58 years within a mile of her birthplace. In 1929, Mary was united in marriage to Reg Whillier in Lacombe and together they farmed the land Reg had purchased from his father next door to the Gants. Mary and Reg retired from farming in 1969 and moved to Lacombe in 1970. To mourn her loss she leaves 3 sons, Don (Ruth) of Slave Lake, Dave (Oda) of Edmonton, Tom (Jean) of Grande Prairie; 2 daughters, Dorothy of Ponoka, Shirley (Ernie) Kruetzfeld of Westerose, AB; and son-in-law, James McNeil of Ponoka. She also leaves 18 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; 2 sisters, Ellen Gant of Red Deer and Lorena Drummond of Innisfail; 1 brother, Glen Gant of Kelowna, B.C.; as well as several nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her mother, Celeste Gant in 1913; her father, Marlee Gant in 1976; her step-mother, Susanna Gant in 1989; her loving husband of 68 years in 1998; as well as her daughter, Betty McNeil in 1998; and by 1 sister and 3 brothers. Funeral services will be held from Wilson's Funeral Chapel, 6120 Highway 2A, Lacombe, AB. on Monday, January 31, 2005 at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Lacombe. KALLIS, William - Mr. William Kallis passed away at Red Deer on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at the age of 93 years. He is survived by his loving wife Muriel of 60 years. His memory will be cherished by his family, Don (Gloria) of Whitecourt, AB, Gloria (Boyd) Charles of Stoughton, SK, Darlene (Stewart) Hartfield of Red Deer, AB, Lyle (Debra) of Red Deer, AB, Michael (Sue) of Millarville, AB, Bev (Debbie) of Red Deer, AB, and Kevin (Christa) of Red Deer, AB. His memory will be further cherished by his eighteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. William is also survived by his brother, Eric Kallis of Vancouver, Washington, as well as two sisters, Ruth Daviduk of Summerland, B.C. and Grace Huff of Los Angeles, California. He was predeceased by his parents Edward (Florence) Kallis, brothers, Arthur and Rheinhart as well as a sister, Martha Bader. MARTIN - On January 26, 2005, Mr. Mel Martin of Read Earth Creek, AB passed away at the age of 60 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Sadie; one son, Dallas of Edmonton; and one daughter, Seana Martin of Calgary, AB; five step-children, Julie (Richard) Fortin of Calgary, Ann-Marie (Quinn) Slape of Saskatoon, James (April) LeBlanc of Surrey, Lana (Nick) Beemster of Vancouver and Tina LeBlanc of Edinburgh, Scotland; twelve grandchildren; his mother, Bernice of Delburne, AB; one brother, Ken (Bernadette) Martin of Willingdon; four sisters, Pat (Larry) Leddy of Edmonton, Maureen (Bob) Erickson of Victoria, Kay (Bill) Svederus of Pine Lake and Denise Martin of Delburne. HUSTON, Roy
HUSTON, Roy Platt (Bud) - March 24, 1930 - Roy passed away November 17, 2007 after a long battle with cancer. His son Matt, long friend Rita, stepson Mike (Carol) at his side. Roy was born to Floyd and Nora on the home place. He was predeceased by his parents, eldest son Roy Jr., brother Burt, and brother-in-law Bill Whitnack. Roy leaves to mourn, his son Matt, stepchildren Brad, Mike, Tracy, brother Don (Betty), sister Vera and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family extends sincere thanks to the staff and Doctors at the Red Deer Hospital. In honoring Bud's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Heinz - Angie Heinz passed away peacefully at her home in Lacombe with her devoted husband of 40 years Bob by her side and her two precious cats Buddy and Shadow on her lap. Angie succumbed to the deadly disease of ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) after a five year struggle. She will be truly missed by her husband Bob, sister Jean Cowie of Drumheller, brothers Chester (Stephie) Drewniak and Adolph (Pat) Drewniak of Thorsby, sisters in-law and brothers-in-law Joan (Dave) Stappler of Bow Island and Janet (Wendell) Mills of Burdett. Angie also leaves behind four nieces, nine nephews and many great friends. She was predeceased by her father and mother Joe and Stella Drewniak of Thorsby, her sister and brother-in-law Wanda and Doug Jensen of Edmonton, her brother-in-law Milton Cowie of Calgary, her father-in-law and mother-in-law Joe and Cecilia Heinz of Medicine Hat and her brother-in-law Jim Yates of Burdett. Angie was also predeceased by her two very special Sheltie dogs Sugar and CD. Angie was born in 1943 and was raised on her parents farm near St. Francis, AB. She graduated from high school in Warburg and then went to work in Thorsby at the hotel restaurant. She met her future husband Bob there, who was working at the local Beaver Lumber store. Angie later moved to Edmonton to live with her sister Wanda in a basement suite. At that time she had a job with a nearby wholesale company called Merco. She married Bob October 7, 1967 and they moved to Ponoka where Bob was working at the Beaver Lumber store. Angie moved with her husband to several locations as he was transferred a lot. The trail was as follows: Ponoka 1967-68, Marwayne 1968-71, Redwater 1971-74, Provost 1974-76, Spruce Grove 1976-81 and finally to buy the Beaver Lumber franchise in Lacombe in 1981. While in these towns Angie would always find a job at various banks, Alberta Hospital in Ponoka, Commerce Bank in Red Deer, doctors clinic in Ponoka, AFSC in Lacombe and part time in records at the Ponoka General hospital and the Lacombe hospital until her disease would no longer let her work. Angie loved gardening, shopping, camping, dancing, cards, traveling, animals and most of all people. There was always room in her heart for another friend. A special thank you to the many people who helped Angie all the way through her illness. They are indeed all angels and Angie loved them all. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Stephens Catholic Church, 5128-53rd Street, Lacombe at 1:00 pm December 1, 2007. Inurnment will follow at the Lacombe Fairview Cemetery.
