CHAMBERS - 1914- 2007 - Lucinda Henrietta "Lou" Chambers passed away after a brief illness, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Wednesday, November 28, 2007. Lou, the youngest of five siblings, was born on December 13, 1914 in Hazel Valley, Saskatchewan. She was raised with her nephew, Frank Nyeste, whom she loved as a brother. Lou was a western pioneer in the truest sense, homesteading in the Peace River area. She lived and worked at different times in her life in Rainy River, Ontario, the Arcola-Kennedy area, Saskatchewan, Yellowknife, Vernon, Vancouver and Trail before settling in Red Deer in 1947. During her full life she ran dog sleds, shot and canned Moose, worked for the Air Force, ran a boarding house, farmed, sold cosmetics and real estate. Lou was a duplicate bridge Life Master, an ace bowler and a square-dance enthusiast. She loved crochet work, needle point, dancing and big band music. Most of all Lou loved her family, her generous advice and care will be missed by all. Lou will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Dave, her son, Don (Hilda) Hurlburt, her daughter, Joan (Fred) Schorning, six grandchildren, Donna, Gordon, David, Linda, Sandra, Karen, four great grandchildren, Joel, Connor, Jessica, Alexa and many special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Lena, Mabel, Alice and a brother, John Collard. As per Lou's wishes a private family funeral service will be held. SHERIDAN, Aleta
SHERIDAN, Aleta (Lea) Marie (nee Cheasley) of Kamloops, peacefully passed away at the Kamloops Seniors Village on Nov. 24, 2007 at the age of 82 years. Lea was born on March 26, 1925 in Alexander, Manitoba. She lived in Winnipeg MB for the first 7 years of her marriage, then moving with her husband Darrel to Red Deer Alberta where they lived for 15 years. She made many good friends in Red Deer and enjoyed raising her children there. Lea served three years in the Canadian Women's Army Corp. during World War II; service she was very proud of. Lea's greatest joy was her family and she was especially happy when she could gather them around her for a celebration. She will be very sadly missed by her husband of 60 years, Darrel, and her three children Wayne (Elizabeth) of Victoria, Sharen (Tom) Whitburn of Winnipeg and Judy (Malcolm) Martin of Kamloops. Lea was particularly proud of her 7 beautiful grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters. Lea loved a party, she loved to laugh and make others laugh. BARRETT, Gordon - Mr. Gordon Charles Barrett, beloved husband of Mrs. Elaine Barrett of Penhold, passed away suddenly with his family by his side at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Friday, January 28, 2005 at the age of 68 years. Gordon was born on November 2, 1936 at Alhambra, Alberta. He was a loving husband and a devoted father who cared deeply for his family. Gordon had a quiet gentleness about himself and he enjoyed keeping busy with his woodworking in his spare time. He was very skilled with his handiwork and made many beautiful pieces of woodwork for his family to enjoy. Gordon will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered and cherished in the hearts of his family and dear friends. Gordon leaves to mourn his loss, his loving wife, Elaine of Red Deer and his children; son, James Barrett of Calgary, Alberta and daughters, Lorrie (Todd) Schmalenberg of Regina, Saskatchewan, Brenda (Trevor) Wheeler of Stony Plain, Alberta, Sherry Barrett of Red Deer and Terry (Neil) Richmond of Jean Coté, Alberta and ten grandchildren. He will also be sadly missed by his sister, Catherine Noble of Drumheller, Alberta, as well as many good friends. Gordon was predeceased by his parents and a brother. ORCHYK, Peter - Mr. Peter 'Raymond' Orchyk, beloved husband of Mrs. Rose Orchyk of Red Deer, passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Thursday, January 27, 2005 at the age of 64 years. Raymond was a loving husband and a devoted family man who loved his children and grandchildren very much. He was especially proud of his grandchildren. Raymond was a strong man who courageously but quietly fought a long and hard battle with illness before his passing. Raymond will be very sadly missed but lovingly remembered and forever cherished in the hearts of his family and dear friends. Raymond leaves to mourn his loss his loving wife of thirty-two years, Rose of Red Deer, his daughters; Robin (Peter) Petropoulos, Tammy Orchyk (Greg, friend) and Tanya Orchyk (Shawn, fiancé), all of Calgary, Alberta, Kelly Orchyk (Donnie, friend) of Red Deer and his son, Chad Orchyk of Medicine Hat, Alberta and his grandchildren; Alyssa, Zachery, Taylor Dawn, Dylan and Hayden. A Celebration of Raymond's Life will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapels, 4820 - 45th Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor John Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the Alto-Reste Cemetery, Red Deer, Alberta. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. White, Dr. Keiser and the Medical Staff of Calgary for the care given to Raymond over the years and would also like to say a special thank you from the heart to Dr. Jim, Dr. Abraham, Dr. Brodie and to our Medical Family at the I.C.U. of the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre.
