On August 22, 2007, Leonard McPherson of Edmonton passed away at the age of 86 years. Survived by his wife Lois, children and grandchildren, John (Jenny) McPherson & Georgia, Gail (Ross) Barros, Jace & Kylie, Nancy (Blair) Burton, Melissa, Sam & Kade. In-laws Joyce McPherson, Jean & Bob North, Elmer Turigan. His Aunt Kathleen Johnston. Numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Samuel and Winnifred McPherson and brother Robert McPherson. A Memorial Service will be held at Glenwood Funeral Home, south of Wye Road, on Range Road 232, on August 29, 2007 at 10:00 am. Anyone wishing to make a donation may do so to the Cross Cancer Institute of Edmonton or Canadian Diabetes Association.
Mr. Cornel Steve Fedorak
November 15, 1945 - August 24, 2007
On August 24, 2007 Cornel Fedorak of Edmonton (Redwater) went home to be with the Lord at the age of 61.
His knowledge, heart, friendship and smile will be dearly missed.
Cornel is lovingly remembered by his wife of 36 years, Phyllis and their children Dwayne, Lisa & Grandson Brayden; Darren & Sabrina; Dawn & Shane, brother Nestor; sisters Louise and Darlene; as well as his family and friends.
Cornel is predeceased by his Father Steve, Mother Anne and Brother John.
Prayer Service will be held at St. Andrew’s Orthodox Parish, 9831-75 Street, Edmonton, Alberta, on Monday, August 27th, 2007 at 7:00pm.
Funeral Service will be held at St. Andrew’s Orthodox Parish, on Tuesday, August 28th, 2007 at 1:00pm. Internment to follow at Glenwood Memorial Gardens, south of Wye Road on Range Road 232, Sherwood Park, Alberta.
In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation towards the Brain Injury Unit or The Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Mrs. Janet Allen
November 2, 1922 - September 3, 2007
Allen, Janet - Born November 2, 1922 Glasgow Scotland. Departed this Mortal Coil September 3, 2007 Victoria, British Columbia. Predeceased by her husband Gordon, grandchildren Jennifer McCullough, and Graham Poole. Survived by her son Roy Allen, daughters Lynda McCullough (Mark) and Jeannie Poole (Rick) and grandchildren Andrew and Emily Poole. She was a active member of the Strathearn United Church Ladies Auxiliary in Edmonton, her baking was always in demand at the church bazaars. After moving to Victoria from Edmonton at her husband’s retirement in 1977, she continued to volunteer her help at the Gorge Road Hospital. Also she was a member of the Esquimalt Arts and Craft Society and served as Treasurer and provided the wonderful floral arrangements for the Annual Craft Shows. Janet also was volunteer member of the Royal British Columbia Museum Gift Shop. All she met found her to be a very warm and special person. Very special thanks from her family to Janet’s friends and caregivers that gave her much comfort and help.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday September 15, 2007 at 10:00a.m. in Edmonton at Glenwood Memorial Gardens Sherwood Park.
Celebration of Life in Victoria to be announced. No flowers by request. Donations, if desired, may be made in Janet’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society, or the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB).
Mr. Walter Valentin Shiman
March 11, 1947 - August 29, 2007
Wally Shiman of Calgary passed away at his home on Wednesday, August 29, 2007.
He will be remembered by his wife Gerri, son Randy (Allison), daughter Kim (Bill) Johnson, four grandchildren, Tyson, Grant, Jennifer and Julia, his mother Olga Shiman, sister Anne (Phil) Backman, nephew Cody and Rob and niece Barb. He was predeceased by his wife Connie and his father Peter.
Wally was an outdoorsman who loved fishing, camping and the Bow Valley corridor was heaven-on-earth to him.
Memorial donations in Wally's name may be made directly to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada (#100, 2421 - 37 Avenue NE, Calgary, AB T2E 6Y7).
Relatives and friends are invited to visitation on Friday, August 31, 2007 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Leyden's Funeral Home (17 Avenue and 2 Street SW).

Leonardo Janolino passed away at the Southwood Hospice on Wednesday, August 29, 2007.
He was predeceased by his wife Ester B. Janolino.
He is lovingly remembered by his children: Elvie Salazar, Estellita (Arsenio) Abdon, Estrella (Ernesto) Roxas, Nolylon (Josefina) Janolino, Eddie (Athena) Janolino, Edwin (Eileen) Janolino, Evangeline (Oscar, Jr.) Buera, and Elen (Christopher) Viola; twenty-two grandchildren, four great grandchildren; and his siblings, Visitacion, Purificacion, Dominador, Virgilio, Clarita, Josefina and Raymundo.
Prayers and visitation will be held on Sunday, September 2, 2007 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with Prayers starting at 7:00 p.m,, at Leyden’s Funeral Home (17 Avenue & 2 Street SW).
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church (404 Northmount Place NW) with Rev. Raul Ranola presiding. Burial to follow in the Philippines.

Mrs. Irene Varty
November 7, 1918 - August 30, 2007
Irene passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2007 at the age of 88. Irene passed from this world as she lived, with dignity, surrounded by her loving family
Irene was born November 7, 1918 in Chamberlain, SK. She met and married her husband and soul mate Willard; they lived lovingly together for 51years in Saskatoon until his passing.
Irene demonstrated her determination and resolute nature in the last 15 years of her life moving to Cochrane, AB and developing a new group of friends and enjoying spending time with her family.
Irene’s value in the world was measured by the quality of the relationships that she had with her family and friends. She drew people to her through her loving, caring attitude and incredibly warm heart. She maintained those relationships with her humor, and wit, spreading love to all those she came in contact with.
Irene is survived by her daughter Carole (Al) Vallet; son Dale (Sandra) Varty and son Barry (Darlene) Hibbert. She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister May Crawford of Saskatoon.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 3, 2007 at 11:00 a.m., at the Bethany Care Centre, 302 Quigley Drive, Cochrane, AB.
