Mr. John Henry Rickett
June 12, 1936 - September 10, 2007

On Monday September 10, 2007, John Rickett of Edmonton passed away at the age of 71 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Erma, children; John (Tammy), Brian, Marion (Darryl) and Karen (Darrin), 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, sisters; Margaret and Isabel, brother James and many other family and friends.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so on Thursday September 13 from 6 to 8 P.M. followed by Funeral Services which will be held on Friday September 14, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at South Side Memorial Chapel (8310-104 Street, Edmonton) with Interment to follow at South Haven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John may be made to the Youth Emergency Shelter Society, P.O. Box 4129 Stn South, Edmonton, AB, T6E 9Z9.

Mr. Victor Weisner
June 17, 1918 - September 10, 2007

In loving memory of our dear husband, father, and grandfather Victor Weisner, who passed away at the age of 89 years.
Victor is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth Irene, his children Rita and Dennis (Patricia), four grandchildren Glenn, Kevin (Lisa), Chelsea and Dion, sister Carol, as well as extended family and friends.
Victor proudly served on HMS Ottawa during WWII.
A Celebration of Victor's Life will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Evergreen Funeral Chapel, 16204 Fort Road, Edmonton.

May 20, 1923 – September 11, 2007

Heinz Ernst Winkel of Calgary passed away at home with his loving family by his side. Heinz was born and raised in the town of Wittstock/Dosse, Germany. He leaves to mourn his wife Shirley of 40 years, his seven daughters and their families; Karin (Lloyd), Birgit (Alan), Edda (Ernie), Adrianne (Mike), Donna, Rebecca, Heather (Chris), 15 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. He had numerous nieces and nephews here in Canada and Germany. Good friends and people he took under his wing. He is predeceased by his parents Ernst and Marie Winkel, his brothers Erich, Horst and Hartmut, also his first wife Thea. He is survived by his sister Anne-Marie who resides in Germany. Heinz was well known for his dedication to the military serving for the German army in 1939 beginning at the age of 16. After the war, he joined the French Foreign Legion. Upon moving to Canada with his family in 1956, holding various odd jobs, he soon joined the Canadian Militia, Calgary Highlanders Unit. He retired from the Militia as a Master Warrant Officer in 1973. His other affiliations include the Royal Canadian Legion, the Masonic Society, Al Azhar Shrine units: Oriental band and Legion of Honor. He was also a volunteer for the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics. His passions were cooking traditional German dishes for all his girls. His hobbies included painting and photography. Heinz had a dry sense of humour and entertained his army friends at the Sgt.’s mess reminiscing of days and campaigns that shaped their lives. A pipe smoker and cigar aficionado, he took pride in working for Cavendish & Moore’s sharing his knowledge and stories with customers. Many tourists would stop by to re-visit the shop for his colourful renditions of Calgary. A Military Service will be held to honour Heinz Winkel, Sunday, September 16, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mewata Armouries (801-11 Street S.W.) In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Heniz’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society (#200, 2424 4 Street S.W. Calgary, Alberta T2S 2T4), the Calgary Highlanders and the Shriners Hospitals for Children (1529 Cedar Ave., Montreal, QC H3G 1A6). Arrangements entrusted to LEYDEN’S FUNERAL HOME RECEPTION AND CREMATION CENTRE, 17th Avenue SW and 2nd Street.

Mrs. Elizabeth Gertrude Gertrude Kuchennko nee: Duesterhoft
March 23, 1929 - September 12, 2007

Elizabeth was the daughter of Reverend Edward and Erika Duesterhoft. She had two siblings, older sister Erika and predeceased by younger brother Edward. Elizabeth was predeceased by her loving husband Oleh Kupchenko.
She graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in education. She taught with the Edmonton School Board for over 30 years mainly at L.Y. Cairns Vocational School teaching students with special needs.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter Ann Kaytar, her husband Jay, their daughter Samantha, her so John Kupchenko, his wife Christine and their children Mitch and Allyson. Elizabeth was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday September 15, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at Grace Lutheran Church, Gnadenthal, Alberta, 1 mile south of hwy. 39 on Range Rd. 261 (directions call 986-3061). In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta, 10531 Kingsway Blvd., Edmonton, Ab. T5H 4K1.

Mr. Raymond Anhill
March 31, 1947 - September 14, 2007

On September 14, 2007, Ray Anhill passed peacefully, with his family at his side, at the age of 60 years.
Ray will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Stacey, three grandchildren Dustin, Vincent and Anthony, his parents Olga and Jacob, two sisters Adline Belsher and Linda (John) Storms, numerous nieces, nephews and good friends.
A Funeral Service to Celebrate Ray's life will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Evergreen Funeral Chapel, 16204 Fort Road, Edmonton. Interment will be held at the Ryley Cemetery following the reception. Visitation will be from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2007.
Ray's family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at the Cross Cancer Institute for all their support, care and compassion.

Mrs. Ruth Elizabeth Bathurst
April 21, 1916 - September 15, 2007

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Ruth Elizabeth Bathurst, formerly of Calgary who passed away peacefully at the age of 91. She is lovingly remembered by her sons Norman, David and daughter Nancy (Bob), 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband Laurence in 1997.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Ruth's final resting place will be with her husband Larry at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens, Calgary, Alberta.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Mr. John Malcolm "Mal" Hodge
August 23, 1917 - September 15, 2007

It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Mal Hodge at the age of 90 years.
Mal will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Alma, children Jim, Gord (Jan), Rob (Glenda), Ken (Tracy) and Gina (Adrian) Kottke, nine grandchildren Chris, Russ, Megan, Naomi, Maeve, Liam, Ana, Kira and Ethan and two great grandchildren Dyeson and Makael as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Mal was predeceased by his parents and by his two brothers and one sister.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 21, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Dayspring Presbyterian Church, 11445 - 40 Avenue, Edmonton with Brad Childs officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
Donations in memory of Mal may be made to the Alberta Heart & Stroke Foundation.
