Margaret Semeniuk, beloved wife of John Soltys of Calgary, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2007, at the age of 52, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.
Besides her loving husband, Margaret will be dearly missed by her son Michael and her daughter Christine.
She will also be lovingly remembered by her parents, Nicholas and Helen Semeniuk; her sisters Beverly Semeniuk and Karen (Shawn) Morash; her nieces Carla Semeniuk and Cailyn Morash; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, work colleagues and devoted friends.
The family wishes to thank Maureen McGuigan for her unfailing support in Margaret’s last months and hours, Dr. Burak and Team at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, the nurses and staff in Unit 47, and the Palliative Home Care Nursing Team.
Margaret touched the heart of everyone she met. She was generous of spirit, loyal and true to her family and many friends. She will live in our hearts forever.
Margaret’s earthly remains were cremated on October 16, 2007. For those wishing to pay their respects, two services will be held.
Pastor Rick Scruggs will celebrate a memorial service at Leyden’s Chapel of Remembrance, 17 Ave SW and 2 Street in Calgary on Friday, October 19, 2007 at 7:00 p.m.
Rev. Victor Lakusta will perform the Divine Liturgy at St. Andrew’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 9831 – 75 St. in Edmonton on Monday, October 22, 2007 at 10:30 a.m.
Margaret will join her Baba Mary and Gedo Nick Hnatiuk at the Andrew Cemetery in Andrew, Alberta.

Mrs. Irma Grace Cross
April 2, 1928 - October 16, 2007
On October 16th, 2007, Mrs. Irma Grace Cross passed away at the Allen Grey Continuing Care Centre.
She is survived by her sister Judy (Ron) Rolfsen; her daughters Cathy (Allan) Bokenfohr, Nancy Gail (Jim) Charlton and Terry (Dale) Katchur; as well as 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.
She was predeceased in 2004 by her husband of 53 years, Edward; grandson Chris in 1971 and sister Helen in 2006.
A service to celebrate Irma's life will be held on Saturday, October 20th, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at Ritchie United Church, 9624 74th Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Irma may be made to the Ritchie United Church Elevator Fund or the charity of one's choice
W. David Wood
June 10, 1970 - October 26, 2007
William David Wood, cherished husband of Cathy and devoted father to their three sons, Jasper, Ambrose and Felix, died suddenly at the age of 37, on Friday, October 26, 2007, along with his father William Wood of Calgary.
David, a native Calgarian, was returning with his dad from Salem, Oregon to celebrate with his family the achievement of one of his longtime dreams by completing the final stage of Architecture licensing with the state of Oregon.
David was passionate and idealistic about his chosen career. David enjoyed shaping the vernacular that was our lives and applied his passion to his work at Kasian Architects particularly through environmentally responsible building design.
David was a beautiful person who was admired and loved by all who knew him. He will be missed and remembered forever.
David is also survived by his mother Bryanne, sister Elizabeth and her son Tauran, his parents-in-law Rosalee and Ross Flohr, sister-in-law Monica (Brad) and their son Spencer, his brother-in-law Dwayne, Grandma Mary and Nana Wood as well as cousins, aunts and uncles, and a wealth of friends.
The service will be held jointly for David and his father at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 219 – 18 Avenue S.W. on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at 10:30 am.
A trust fund is established in the name of “Wood Family Trust”. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at any ATB Financial location.

Olga Van Riper
August 22, 1916 - October 14, 2007
Olga Van Riper, aged 91 years of Claresholm, Alberta passed away peacefully on October 14, 2007 at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary with family by her side. She is survived by her four daughters, Eleanor (Dean) Bobocel of Kelowna, BC, Ilene (Henry) Hall of Cochrane, AB, Doreen (Art) Jervis of Linden, AB; 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Dorothy (Morrie) Hendrix of Keremeos, BC as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Olga was predeceased by her husband Kenneth (1996), 2 brothers Leslie and Clarence and 3 sisters Evelyn, Margaret and Helen. Services will be held at Claresholm United Church on Friday, October 26, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Oliver C. Seward officiating. Hellen Sydenham of Claresholm, Alberta, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2007 in her home at the age of 85 years. She is survived by her sons, Bob (Gaye) and Rod and sister, Gina; grandchildren, Stephen, Michael, Laura, Terri (Fred) and great grandchildren, Taylor and Logan. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry (1999) and son, Richard (2006). A Memorial Gathering will be held on October 27, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Claresholm United Church.
