On October 19, 2007, surrounded by the love of family and friends, Carole passed away after a very brief but courageous battle with cancer. Loved by many, she leaves to mourn her passing: son Todd Bilawchuk; grandchildren Taylor, AshLee and Alexis; Todd’s father, Chuck Bilawchuk; sisters Marg Viala (Paul) and Maureen Coulter (Tom); brothers Peter McMeekin, Bruce McMeekin (Gwen) and Robert McMeekin (Karen); nieces Erin Viala-Hicks (Daryl), Sandy Scherger (Stan), Dawn Coulter-Ford (Mike), Sabrina McMeekin-Topping (Shane), Angela McMeekin, Susan McMeekin and Sherrie Reimer (Calvin); nephews Sean Viala, Tom Coulter (Betty), James McMeekin (Annette) and Colin McMeekin; great-nieces and great-nephews Jade, Kyra, Simon, Rebecca, Taegan, Parker, Daniel, Jayce, Brittany, Elizabeth, Courtney, Justin and Tyler and her very special friends Helen Smith, Roxi Martinez, Clara Jonsson and Sandra Tulloch, plus a legion of friends and co-workers. Carole was predeceased by her daughter Lesley and her parents Walter and Cecilia McMeekin.
Carole was born on February 4, 1943 in Calgary, Alberta where her father was stationed with the Royal Canadian Airforce. The family later moved to Leslieville, where Carole completed her schooling before moving to Edmonton in 1961. Carole was known for her eclectic tastes, sense of fashion, fabulous cooking and gregarious, fun-loving personality. She loved music, art, theater, hula dancing, cooking, yoga, traveling, gardening, shopping, and spending time with her friends and family – especially her Toddy. Carole retired in August 2007 after 34 years as a social worker – a profession at which she excelled.
A celebration of Carole’s life will take place on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at Fellowship Baptist Church, 14323 – 107A Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta at 10:00 a.m., with viewing from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. A time of fellowship will follow in the church gymnasium with interment at the Leslieville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Alberta Cancer Foundation, 11560 University Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T6G 1Z2.
BERNARD, Willy Gustav
On September 15, 2007 Mr. Willy Bernard of Edmonton passed away at the age of 91 years. At his request no formal service will be held in Penticton, BC. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2007 in Evergreen Reception Centre, 16204- Fort Road, Edmonton, AB. Cremation has taken place.
Mr. Earl Zeiner
August 5, 1925 - October 19, 2007
On Friday, October 19, 2007 Earl Zeiner of Edmonton passed away at the age of 82 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Babe of 60 years, three children; Darlene (Tom), Jim (Lin) and Teresa (Troy), seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Lloyd (Dorothy) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Earl was predeceased by his son Richard in 2005. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Evergreen Funeral Chapel, 16204 Fort Road, Edmonton.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Olsen, and also the ICU staff at the Misericordia Hospital for their care and compassion. Mr. Glen Edwin Thomlinson
April 13, 1931 - October 17, 2007
The family of Glen Thomlinson sadly announce his passing. Glen is survived by his loving wife Madeleine, his cherished sons and daughter-in-laws, Dave and Nicole, Brad and Gael, and by his treasured beloved grandchildren; Stephanie and Megan, Jack and Lila. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters; Ted, Lindsey, Edna, June and Donna and their families. Glen was predeceased by his brother Russell and parents, Jack and Ruby.
In keeping with Glen's wishes no funeral service will be held. Instead a family gathering will be held to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute, 11560 University Avenue, Edmonton, T5G 1Z2.
Mr. Kevin Brent Adams
November 17, 1965 - October 15, 2007
On Monday, October 15, 2007, Kevin Adams of Edmonton passed away at the age of 41 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Kali-Ann, mother Joyce, sons; Kevin, Paul and Eddie, brothers and sisters; Gord (Lorraine), Don (Kim), Larry (Marilyne), Barry (Debbie), Jim (Bonnie), Mark (Tanya), Paula, Lorie, Lorna, Jody and Kim, best friends; Cathy and Robert and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, family and friends. Walter Onyskiw
January 16, 1921 - October 21, 2007
Walter Onyskiw, aged 86 years, passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2007. He is survived by his wife Janina Onyskiw of Calgary, two nephews and two nieces. Born in Ternopol, Ukraine, he came to Canada in 1951 to Toronto, Ontario and moved to Calgary in 1952 where he has resided since. He was employed with the C.P.R. Bridge Building department for 17 years and with the City of Calgary and the Calgary General Hospital for 17 years until his retirement. He was an active member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church and proud of his Ukrainian heritage. A Prayer Service will be held at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, (704-6th Street NE) on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. Divine Liturgy will be served at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Serhiy Harahuc presiding. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Leyden’s Funeral Home, Reception and Cremation Centre, 304 18 Avenue SW.
