She will be dearly missed by her niece Yvonne Ellis, her great-niece Patricia Creely and great-nephew Donald Ellis, all of Florida, USA. Pursuant to her wishes there will be no Funeral or Memorial Service, however, if friends so desire memorial tributes may be made to the charity of their choice (12/21/1997).
DILLON - Sister Kathleen Dillon (Sr. Euphrasia) FCJ died on December 9, 1997 at Sacred Heart Convent, Calgary. Born in Athlacca, Co. Limerick, Ireland, on January 12, 1907, Sr. Kathleen joined the FCJ's in 1923. She came to Canada in August 1930 and spent the rest of her active life in the service of the community and the boarders at Sacred Heart Convent. She endeared herself to all by her cheerful manner and her sense of humour. Sister retired from active duty in 1982 but continued her apostolate of prayer and assisting the older sisters. She celebrated seventy years of religious life in March 1996. Sr. Kathleen is survived by her sister, Sr. Lelia Dillon FCJ, Laurel Hill Convent, Limerick and other family members in Ireland, as well as by her religious community. Friends are invited to Prayers at Sacred Heart Convent Chapel (219 - 19 Avenue S.W.), on Sunday, December 14, 1997 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Convent Chapel, (219 - 19 Avenue S.W.), on Monday, December 15, 1997 at 10:30 a.m. with The Rev. Rupert MacLellan presider. Graveside Service to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. DINGMAN-MACHEN - Joan E. Dingman-Machen passed away peacefully at the Agape Manor Hospice on November 13, 1997 at the age of 72 years. Joan was born September 20, 1925, a true native Calgarian. Following her graduation from Western Canada High School she was employed with the Royal Bank of Canada where she spent over forty years. Joan married Ed Machen in October of 1983. They spent six wonderful years together travelling and generally having a ball. Ed passed away in 1989 leaving a large void in Joan's life but this did not keep her from being active in such things as the Calgary Winter Club and the African Violet Society. Joan loved her petit-point and also was a collector of owl figurines, which no one knows just how many she had. Also, Joan was an avid and accomplished Bridge player which she played right up to the end. All these memories and more will be remembered of Joan. We will all miss her. She is survived by brothers, Robert (Bob) Dingman and wife Gena of Wetaskiwin, John A. Dingman and wife Betty of Vancouver, along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends. At Joan's request, no formal Services will be held. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Agape Manor Hospice (1302 - 8 Avenue N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 1B8). DINGWELL - Alphonsus (Andy) passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 14, 1997 at the age of 59 years. Leaving to mourn, is his wife Gloria; children, Kelly, Rodney and Teresa; and granddaughter Maggie; six sisters, five brothers, and many other relatives and friends. Andy served with the Canadian Armed Forces Armoured Corps for twenty-two years. After retirement, he continued his career with the Royal Bank of Canada. Andy's family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to all those who supported him over the years. A Memorial Mass will be held at the Holy Name Catholic Church, 2223 - 34 Street S.W., Calgary, AB at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 19, 1997 with Rev. Stanislaw Lasko, SDS, Celebrant. HEAPHY - Jackie C.M. (nee Core) of Sudbury, Ontario, passed away at the Sudbury General Hospital on Thursday, September 4, 1997 at the age of 54. Jackie is survived by her husband Don of Sudbury; her children, Patrick of Sudbury, Shawn of Switzerland, and Cori of St. Thomas, Ontario. She will also be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her mother Alice Lalonde (nee Core) of Sudbury; her brother John Lalonde of Montreal; and her sister Joanne Hansen (nee Lalonde) of Calgary. Jackie leaves to mourn, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will remember her always as a happy and free spirit dedicated to her children. Jackie graduated from the Marymount School of Nursing in 1965 and married Don in 1966. She was a member of the Idelwylde Golf & Country Club and loved her time on the links. She was a nurse in many units of the Sudbury General Hospital and was dedicated to giving care to those in need and will always be in the hearts of those she touched. A Funeral Mass was held on Monday, September 8, 1997 at St. Andrew's the Apostle Church in Sudbury, Ontario. HECK - Mrs. Clara Heck, beloved wife of Mr. Jack Heck of Calgary, passed away at the Peter Lougheed Centre on Monday, July 7, 1997 at the age of 63 years. Clara was born on January 23, 1934 in Abby, Saskatchewan, where she grew up as a child and teenager. In Abby, Clara met her husband Jack and married in 1952, then moving to Prelate, Saskatchewan. After a year in Prelate, Clara and Jack moved to Calgary, starting their family. Clara spent her time raising her family and other children which was the pride and joy of her life. Playing cards with her family, playing bingo and travelling brought great pleasure to her, especially winning at bingo. She will always be remembered and loved by her family and friends, because of all the joy and happiness she has brought to their lives. Besides her loving husband, Clara is survived by her children, Bernice and Don Deeter and their children, Darold, Dennis and Amanda of Chestermere; Brian and Judy Heck and their children, Christopher and Holly of Calgary; Elaine Ramsey and Bernie Jacobson and their children, Shawn and Cory of Calgary; Cindy and Gordon Young and their children, Michael and Jonathan of Chestermere. She is also survived by three sisters, five brothers and numerous nieces and nephews. Clara was predeceased by her parents, David and Ann Lanz, a brother, sister and sister-in-law. Funeral Services will be held at The Chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home, (17 Avenue S.E. at Garden Road), on Friday, July 11, 1997 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Bernie Black of the Calgary Catholic Dioceses officiating. Graveside Service to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. HEELAN - Edmond (Eddie) Paschal Heelan of Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 42, died peacefully at home on November 8, 1997 after a lengthy illness. He is survived by family in Ireland, England, Australia and Canada, and numerous friends. Eddie was President of Lord Edmond's Catering since 1991, and gained the respect of his peers as a gifted artist. His zest for life and incredible wit will be cherished by all who knew him. A Memorial Celebration for Eddie's life was held at Scared Heart Church. HEFFERNAN - Melinda (Mandy) Heffernan of Airdrie, AB, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, December 26, 1997 at the age of 9 years. Melinda is survived by her loving parents, Kevin Paul and Rachel; grandparents, Muriel Hope, Jim and Jerry Heffernan; as well as many relatives and friends.
