Predeceased by her parents and two sisters, she is survived by her husband Emerson; children, Dwight of Victoria, Barry of St. Paul, AB, Dolli of New Westminster, David of San Diego, CA; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one brother, three sisters, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral Services will beheld at the Linden Mennonite Brethren Church on Saturday, December 6 at 11:00 a.m (12/4/1997).
SEWELL - Margaret Olver (nee Binns) Sewell, known to her family and friends as "Dot", passed away at the George Boyack Nursing Home on June 29, 1997; born July 9, 1904 in Medicine Hat, AB. She was predeceased by her loving husband Samuel, her twin brother Richard (Dick), three brothers, Dean, Pete, Jim, and two sisters, Jean and Marie. She is survived by her loving daughters, Margaret and Donna and their husbands, Otto Fugmann and Ronald Hannaford; six grandchildren, Karen and John Fee, Lynne Evans, Diana and Raymond Turner, Sherri and Patrick Moynahan, Brian and Jo Hannaford and Debbie and Richard Shannon; great-grandchildren, Christopher Evans, Jason and Lorene Fee, and Chelsea Moynahan. Married on August 5, 1931 in Calgary, Dot lived her early married life in Black Diamond and Turner Valley. In 1945, the family moved to Trinidad and Venezuela, returning to Canada in 1950; she resided in Calgary the rest of her life. Dot received a Provincial Medal of Recognition for her long-time Native Alberta status. She resided the past nine years at the George Boyack Nursing Home. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at FOSTER'S FUNERAL HOMES "Jacques Chapel", 240 - 17 Avenue S.W., on Wednesday, July 2, 1997 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Foster's Funeral Homes "Jacques Chapel" on Thursday, July 3, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. with the Pastor Markus Wilhelm of St. John Lutheran Church officiating. SEXSMITH - Mr. Lawrence (Larry) Edward Sexsmith of Calgary, passed away in Kelowna, B.C. on September 4, 1997, at the age of 78 years. Born in Virden, Manitoba on June 15, 1919, Lawrence was Sgt. in the P.P.C.L.I. during the Second World War. After returning from overseas, he worked long and hard in the Oil Patch in many locations, ranging from the North Slope of Alaska to the Birdsville Track of Australia. Larry was a member of the R.C.L. Branch No. 276, and will be remembered by those with whom he bent an elbow. To Lawrence's many friends and colleagues, we hope that you will remember him with the same warmth, respect and caring that he felt for you. Lawrence was a heck of a man and we miss him deeply. Lawrence is survived by his loving wife Margaret; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Rose Sexsmith of Kelowna; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Patricia and Marv Wagner of Kelowna, Linda and Bill Becker of Lethbridge, Barbara and Doug Olesen of Calgary, and Sandra Sexsmith of Onoway, as well as by grandchildren, Paul and Jodie, Adam and Julie Sexsmith, Michael Healy, Ryan and Erin Becker, Brianne and Daniel Olesen; and three great-grandsons, Austin, Jacob and Isaac. Larry is also survived by his brother Norman of Virden, Manitoba. SEYMOUR - James Paul Seymour, aged 59 years, of Calgary, passed away June 18, 1997 in Emma Lake, Saskatchewan. He is survived by his wife Norma L. Trudeau Seymour of Calgary; a daughter Norma Dawn; a son Kevin and grandson David; his mother Ruth (Otto) Kaldor of Prince Albert, Sask.; his sisters, Jacqueline (Jim) Anderson, Lois (Robert) Green; and brother Dale (Kim) Kaldor, all in Saskatchewan; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. ROWE - John Daniel Rowe, beloved husband of Doris Rowe of Calgary, passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital on Wednesday, November 5, 1997 at the age of 74 years. Besides his loving wife, John is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Diana Rowe, and Ken and Debra Rowe; as well as loving grandfather to two grandchildren, Christopher and Courtney. ROWLAND - Cecil Herbert was born in Ontario on September 3, 1910 and passed away at the Lacombe Health Care Centre on November 21, 1997 at the age of 87 years. Cecil moved west with his family when he was still very young, settled in Saskatchewan, first in the Kindersley area, and later near Meadow Lake, where he homesteaded. After a few years Cecil left the farm to work in Meadow Lake at a number of different jobs. While there, he met Wilda Ridley, and they were married in 1953. In 1959 they returned to farming, purchasing a small farm in the Dorintosh district. Upon retirement, they moved to Calgary where they both served in the office of Wycliffe Bible Translators for about ten years. In 1993 Cecil moved to the nursing home in Lacombe, where he remained until his passing. Cecil is survived by three children, Clara (Brian) Kozowy of La Ronge, SK, Gordon (Val) Rowland of Lacombe, AB, and Edna (Steve) Wisler of Elliston, MT; and nine grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Bernice Seymour and Florence Ward, both of Langley, BC; three sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. Cecil is predeceased by his loving wife Wilda in 1989, and by four brothers. Funeral Services will be held at the Rockyview Alliance Church, 6927 Rundlehorn Drive N.E., Calgary, on Tuesday, November 25, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Randy Rohrick officiating. Interment to follow in the Mountain View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice. ROYER - Mina Barbara Fay Royer, it is with great sadness we announce the passing of Barb on June 20, 1997 at the Kelowna General Hospital at the age of 32 years. She is survived by her loving husband Dave and children, Susan and Christopher; mother Mina Shaw; and sister Heather (Dave) Downey. Barb was predeceased by her dad Fred and sister Susan (Tobi). The following tribute was made for Tobi and is repeated for Barb. "We seldom ask for miracles. But today just one would do, To have the front door open And see you walking through. A million times we've missed you. A million times we've cried. If we could have saved you, You would never have died. In life we loved you dearly, In death we love you still. DICK - The family of Marian Margaret Dick announces with sadness that she passed away peacefully on June 22, 1997, at the age of 82 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Joyce Davis; three grandchildren, James and his wife Juanita, Jennifer, all of Calgary, and Crispen of Bangkok, Thailand. Marian was born in Detroit, Michigan and moved to Calgary in 1981 where she spent many happy years with her family and new friends. She took an active role in the upbringing of her grandchildren, and was known as "Grandma" to all the children in her life. Marian was a true believer in living life to the fullest, always looking for a new challenge and a new adventure. She was actively involved with the Fish Creek Seniors, the Kerby Centre, and the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, especially the Holy Spirit Seniors. Following her own personal experience with cancer, Marian volunteered at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre with the Reach for Recovery Program for several years. The family wish to express their sincerest gratitude and appreciation for the exceptional care Marian received at the Mayfair Nursing Home. The kindness of the staff there will always be remembered. We would also like to thank Dr. J. Coppola for his patience, understanding, and his "above and beyond the call of duty" care during Marian's lengthy illness.
