BERNBAUM - Sally Bernbaum passed away peacefully on Monday, October 27, 1997 at the Beverly Care Centre where she had lived for the past four years. Sally was a GREAT mother; fun-loving, gentle, caring, a wonderful sense of humor, and a love of music with a beautiful singing voice. "Baba" will be greatly missed by her sons and daughters-in-law, Stan and Nancy of Calgary, Harvey and Kim, also of Calgary, and Neil and Lesley of Richmond, British Columbia; and her grandchildren, Talia, Piper, Manya, Safi and Alicia. Allan, Sally's loving husband, passed away four years ago. Born in Russia in 1912, she moved with her family to Winnipeg, Manitoba where after high school, she worked for Weidman Brothers as a secretary, mastering the comptometer. She married in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1939, and then worked with her husband in their car dealership in that city until 1964 when they retired. Sally was dedicated to the Hadassah organization and the Jewish Community in Saskatoon until the summer of 1992 when they moved to Calgary. She will always be remembered for her loving personality, her great passion for cooking, and above all, her love for and devotion to her family. Funeral Services will be held at the Jewish Memorial Chapel, (1702 - 17 Avenue S.W.) today, October 29, 1997. Interment to follow at the Jewish Cemetery (30 Avenue and Erlton Street S.W.). BERNSTEIN - Matas (Matt), December 10, 1997 in his 73rd year. He is survived by his beloved wife Kathleen (Kay Parker); by daughters, Lynn Leah, Dawn-Marie (Gene), Sandra, Gwyneth Ann; grandchildren, Cheryl Ann, Michelle, Mary Beth, and Ryan; and his precious great-grandchildren, Braden, Joel, and Jenell Williams; and his brother Frank (Phyllis). Matt fought a courageous battle with Lymphoma and passed on peacefully in his sleep December 10. Service and Interment at Schara Tzedeck Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 12, 1997. Memorial tributes may be made to Lyons Gate Hospital Foundation, Chemotherapy Unit or to the Cancer Clinic, 600 West 10th, Cancer Research Centre. Special thanks to Dr. Paul Klimo and Dr. John Hunt, to Matt's friends at Harel Synagogue, and especially to Rabbi Balla. Also to his friends at Capalano Lodge No. 164 and Members of Seymour Golf and Country Club (12/12/1997).

BERRY - Group Captain (Ret'd) Grover A. Berry DFC, CD, beloved husband of Jean of Calgary, died suddenly at home on October 24, 1997, at the age of 75 years. He is the loving father of one daughter and two sons and two daughters-in-law, Vicky Berry of Ottawa, Ont., Peter and Lynn Berry of Calgary and John and Nicole Berry of Victoria, B.C.; three grandchildren, Matthew, Jessica and Hannah. He is also survived by two sisters and two brothers, Virgie, Jack, Greg and Avis and their families. A Service of Thanksgiving for the life of Grover Berry will be held at Midlands United Church (250 - 146 Avenue S.E.), on Thursday, October 30, 1997 at 4:30 p.m. with the Rev. Duncan Barwise officiating. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Salvation Army, 1402 - 8 Avenue N.W., Calgary T2N 1B9. In living memory of Grover Berry, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES "Fish Creek Chapel", 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. (10/28/1997).

ADAMS - Joseph Cecil. Cec is at peace. He was born on December 18, 1914 at Glenboro, Manitoba and died on November 24, 1997 at Calgary. Grandpa's memory will be cherished by his daughter Bev; his son Brad; daughter-in-law Anni; and special grandchildren, Leah and Grayson, all of Calgary. He was predeceased by his beloved Gwen. He will be missed by Gwen's sisters and brothers and their families, by his sister Nancy, and sister-in-law Vonda, and their families and many friends. Cec found adventure in the Royal Canadian Navy in World War II. After the war, he found love in Winnipeg, married and moved to Calgary. For forty-eight years, Cec and Gwen welcomed family and friends to their home with the manicured lawn and the fragrant lilac bushes. Cec worked as a planer at Cushing Mills and as a caretaker at McKay Road Elementary and TB Riley Jr. High. He enjoyed his retirement, especially walking, camping, watching baseball and winning at crib. A gifted woodworker, he was especially proud of the recycled-wood trays and hockey stick cutting boards that he made. Above all, Cec enjoyed his family. We will remember him dressed jauntily in his Panama hat, red shirt and bolo tie. Goodnight, dear Grandpa; the Lord bless you and keep you. A Funeral Service will be held at FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 3220 - 4 Street N.W. on Thursday, November 27, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. Cremation. ADLAM - Timothy Andrew, suddenly as the result of an accident, on Saturday, November 29, 1997 in his 28th year. Tim Adlam of 544 Pembroke Street West, Pembroke, dearly loved husband of Angela Adlam (nee Plummer); dearly loved father of Hannah Lou Adlam; dearly loved son of Frank and Reta Adlam (nee Remus), Pembroke; loving brother of Lorelei Rabishaw (husband Jamie), Pembroke, Allison Deakin (husband Ian), Manotick, and Frank Adlam (wife Patricia), Pembroke; dear uncle to Sarah, Ellie and Alanna; dear son-in-law of Kent and Barbara Plummer, Pembroke; brother-in-law of Tanya Plummer, Ottawa; loving grandson to Lou Plummer, Pembroke. Tim was a great supporter of Hockey Ministries International. Resting at the Malcolm, Deavitt and Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew Street, Pembroke, on Monday 2:00 to 4:30 and 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. and Tuesday 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Service in Zion Lutheran Church on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. Interment in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. ADMUSSEN - Beloved mother, Helen Admussen (nee Herring) of Calgary, passed away suddenly at her residence on October 1, 1997, at the age of 71 years. Helen was born and grew up in the Sunnyslope area, later residing in the Acme area. Here she raised her family, later moving to Calgary in 1969. Helen will be sadly missed by her friends and family, Gladys and Russ Wiebe of Edmonton, Bob Herring of Kelowna, B.C., Dianne and Michael Paduano of Calgary, Don and Irene Herring of Lloydminster, Brenda and Malcolm Langley of Calgary, Jacqueline Parmley of Calgary, and Fred and Nadine Admussen of Calgary; as well as nineteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband John Herring, Chris Admussen and her dear friend Ray Farand. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Park Memorial Chapel", (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Monday, October 6, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. In living memory of Helen Admussen, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, "Park Memorial Chapel", 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W., CALGARY. KOCOUREK - William Charles (Bill) Kocourek passed away at home on Friday, November 28, 1997 at the age of 84 years. Bill was predeceased by his wife Alice on February 28, 1986 and by his brothers, Tom and Norman. Bill is survived by his son Ron; grandchildren, Gregg and Krista; sisters, Betty, Rennie and Alice Alderman; and his daughter-in-law Faye Pelz. A Veteran of World War II and residing in Calgary since 1951, Bill enjoyed a career with the CNR for over forty-seven years, retiring as Passenger Sales Supervisor in September 1975. Bill had been a member of the Royal Canadian legion for fifty-two years, recently with Branch No. 264; and was a life member of the Elks Lodge BPOE4. Bill was a very kind and generous man, one of his greatest passions was his garden and greenhouse and he was especially proud of his vast display of gladiolus. Bill has requested that there be no Funeral Service. A Celebration of Bill's Life with family and friends gathering at his home will be held on Saturday, December 6, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements and Cremation in care of HERITAGE FAMILY FUNERAL SERVICES, "Calgary Crematorium Chapel". KOESTER - Geralda Marie Koester of Rockyford, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Strathmore Hospital on June 22, 1997 at the age of 82 years. Born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on July 24, 1914, she moved to Canada in 1929. Geralda is survived by one sister Annie (Roland) Dopking of Strathmore; two brothers, Joe (Tillie) Koester and Dick (Esther) Koester, both of Rockyford; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Geralda was a faithful member of the St. Rita's Parish and an honourary member of the CWL. She received many ribbons for sewing and gardening at the Rockyford Fair. She was also awarded the diocesan Medal of Merit for her efforts in the Parish and the community. Prayer Service will be held at St. Rita's Catholic Church, Rockyford, on Tuesday, June 24, 1997 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Rita's Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 25, 1997 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend John Petravicius, Celebrant. Interment to follow in St. Rita's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the Extended Care at the Strathmore Hospital, 200 Brent Boulevard, Strathmore, Alberta, T1P 1J9.
