- Shop now for incredible insights into your wellbeing -SISSON - Mr. Emmerton (Em) Sisson, beloved husband of Kathleen, passed away peacefully at his residence on December 30, 1997 at the age of 75 years. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his daughter Dorothy Spicer; son Peter (Anne); five grandchildren, Tara, Jason, Kristofur, Robert and Leah. He is also survived by four brothers, Joe (Dorothy), Harry (Ardath), Ray (Vera), Frank; two sisters, Muriel and Nora; as well as many nieces and nephews. He served with the Royal Canadian Navy from 1941 to 1945 and worked as a Customs Officer with the Federal Government. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 703 Heritage Drive S.W. on Friday, January 2, 1998 at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev. Karl English and Rev.Marion Barclay officiating. SITKU - Mr. Istvan Steve Sitku, beloved husband of Mrs. Maria Sitku of Calgary, passed awaypeacefully at the Rockyview Hospital on December 28, 1997 after a lengthy illness at the age of71 years. Steve was born in Nyiradony, Hungary on July 3, 1926, moved to Calgary in 1957 and has resided here since. Throughout his life, Steve was an exceptional craftsman who designed and assembled fine furniture with the Tresco Desk Company until his retirement in 1988. Steve was a member of St. Istvan Men's Society of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, as well as a faithful parishioner of longstanding of the Church. Besides his loving wife Maria, Steve is survived by his sister Anna Ander of Calgary and his cousin Andrew Vajta and his wife Helen of Edmonton; as well as relatives and friends in Hungary and in Calgary. ROSS - Charles David Ross (Chuck) passed away peacefully at the Rockyview General Hospital on December 15, 1997. He is survived by his wife Kally; father Jack; daughter Lisa; sons, John and Randy; grandchildren, Joshua and Isabel; and sister Nancy McDonald. Chuck was born in Toronto on March 12, 1942. While at Viscount Bennett High School he was recognized for his leadership qualities and in 1959 won the Harry Hood Football Award. He graduated from the University of Calgary and started his teaching career at Rideau Park School. From 1979 to 1985he was Principal of Crescent Heights High School; 1985 to 1987 Associate Superintendent; 1987to 1994 Principal of Dr. E.P. Scarlett High School. SCOTT - Phylis Bernice Mae (Bernie) Scott of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Rockyview General Hospital on September 12, 1997, at the age of 73 years. Phylis is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Norman and Bertha Scott of Ebb & Flow, Manitoba, Stephen and Kathy Scott of Irricana, Alberta; and a daughter and son-in-law, Marlene and Doug Berinecutt of Calgary; eight grandchildren, Becky, David, Candy, Karl, Doug, Chelsey, Andrea and Michael. She is also survived by numerous brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. MIGALLO - Mrs. Anna Alicja Migallo (nee Patoczka) of Calgary, passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, November 19, 1997 at the age of 72 years, after a very courageous battle against pancreatic cancer. Anna was born on July 1, 1925 in Krakow, Poland and came to Canada in September 1957. In 1961 she moved to Calgary and worked for the Public School Board for a number of years. She then spent sixteen years working as an architect in the planning department of the University of Calgary, before retiring. As a young teenager, Anna and her whole family were imprisoned in the Auschwitz Concentration Camp, where she spent the next five years before being liberated by American forces in 1945. She is survived by her daughter Danusia Migallo and her special friend and companion Ray; her son Mark and his fiancee Alexandra; and her grandson Christopher, all of Calgary. She is also survived by her sister Wandzia Monastyrska in Poland; her former husband and very close friend Henry and his wife Jirina of Whitefish, Montana, and their son Danek Migallo of California; her nieces, Ania Monastyrska and her daughter Aggie of Calgary, and Basia Laufman and her family of White Rock, B.C. She also leaves behind her beloved dogs, Keely and Charr. Anna was a very elegant lady who had a great love for animals, nature and the arts and was always generous with donating her time to do volunteer work. She was a very caring, loving and unselfish person, always putting everyone else's needs before her own. She will be forever missed and never forgotten. LEAVITT - Nedra (nee Woolf), beloved wife of Dean H. Leavitt, passed away peacefully after a brief illness at the Rockyview Hospital on December 9, 1997. She was 81 years old. Besides her loving husband Dean, she is survived by two daughters, Deanne Lund of Anaheim, California and Shirley (Cornelius) Kloosterman of Calgary; two sons, Bradford (Joyce) of Edmonton, and Gregory (Martine) of High River. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild; brothers, Lee Woolf and William Woolf of Lethbridge; and a sister Helen Westfall of Calgary. Nedra was born on October 12, 1916 in Cardston, Alberta. All her life she was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions of responsibility, teaching in the Sunday School and other auxiliaries, president of the Ward Primary organization, and member of the Stake Relief Society Board in Calgary. Until her illness, she was an avid reader and was well-read both in the scriptures and in works of good literature. Most importantly, she was a sensitive and devoted mother who supported her children and grandchildren in all their activities.
