Dennis Godmaire

Dennis (Ti-Jean) Godmaire died suddenly in London on October 5, 2004. He was in his forty-fifth year.
Mr. Godmaire is survived by his loving son Darcy Godmaire (Sonya Reis r) of London, siblings Raymond Godmaire (Claudette) of Haileybury, Roger Godmaire of Edmonton, Aurele Godmaire (Janice) of Sturgeon Falls, Pauline Lavallee (Allen) of North Cobalt, Ron Godmaire (Betty) of Watford and Claude Godmaire (Gena Bahal).
Cremation has taken place with the funeral service held at Holy Cross Church in Haileybury on October 22.

Vera Watts (n e Leach)

A former resident of Cobalt, Vera Watts (n e Leach) died quietly on October 11, 2004, with members of her family at her side. She was in her eighty-second year and resided in Peachland, British Columbia.
Born and raised in Toronto, she married Gordon Watts of Cobalt during the late 1940s, where the couple took up residence. She quickly became a popular and active member of her community, serving on the Cobalt High School Board and as a volunteer with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Haileybury Hospital.
Mrs. Watts will be fondly remembered for her caring and compassionate nature, as well as her incomparable wit and her expertise as a wonderful hostess, for she loved to entertain her friends.
Mrs. Watts spent her married life in Cobalt, where she raised her family of four children, then returned to Toronto in the late l970s. She remained in Toronto until her retirement, then moved to Peachland, B.C. True to her nature, she quickly installed herself as an active member of her community and acquired many new friends.
Mrs. Watts is survived by her four loving children and two stepchildren: Wendy Scully (Ed) of Barrie, Barbara Katnich (Glen) of Peachland, B.C., Jennifer Hughes of Port Carling, Ontario, Corry Watts of Toronto, Harold Watts (Carolyn) and Betty Kramp (Ken), both of Latchford. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Derek, Shaun, Simon and Shannon.
A service of remembrance and celebration of Mrs. Watts life was held October 26 at St. Margaret s Anglican Church in Peachland.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Margaret s Church (building fund) at 4464 - 4th Street, Peachland, B.C. V0H 1X6 would be appreciated by the family.

Hugh Alfred Anderson

Hugh Alfred Anderson died peacefully at the North Bay General Hospital on October 17, 2004 at the age of 74.
Mr. Anderson is survived by his children Hugh (Monica) of Cincinnati, Bruce of North Bay, Fraser of Calgary, Sharon (Bruce Coughlin) of Callander and Glen (Jennifer) of Cookstown; is sadly missed by ten grandchildren; and sister Helen Ferguson of Dryden.
Mr. Anderson was predeceased by his parents Adolph and Isabella, brothers Jim, Jack and Charles.
Mr. Anderson was a long time resident of North Bay and New Liskeard and was active in both communities. He was involved in coaching many sports as well as being an active member of the theater guild. He was a long time employee in the advertising departments of both the North Bay Nugget and the Temiskaming Speaker.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held in the Martyn Funeral Home chapel in North Bay on Wednesday, October 20 at 10 a.m.
Interment of ashes will follow in the New Liskeard cemetery at 2 p.m.
If desired, donations to the Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged by the family.

Rolly Cloutier

Rolly Cloutier of New Liskeard died suddenly as the result of a motor vehicle accident in Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan on October 14, 2004.
He was born in Haileybury on March 7, 1962 to Jean Marie and Irene (Pearce) Cloutier.
Educated at Elk Lake Public School and New Liskeard Secondary School, he lived in the North all his life.
He was a certified millwright industrial mechanic for Wabi Development in New Liskeard.
Mr. Cloutier enjoyed life to the fullest, loved spending time with his children and family and friends. He enjoyed spending time at the lake fishing and hunting. He took pride in his work and was a very hard worker. Mr. Cloutier was very proud of achieving his Certificate of Apprenticeship-Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) in January of 2001.
Mr. Cloutier is survived by his father Jean Marie Cloutier of New Liskeard; son Jonathan Cloutier (18) and daughter Chanelle Cloutier (16) of Warren; brother John Cloutier (Deb) of Kitchener; sisters Bertha Cormier (Denis) of Elk Lake and Pam Cormier (Wayne) of Matachewan First Nation; nieces and nephews Tara, Lori, Melissa, Lynne, Joseph, James, Kalene and Ty; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his sister Marlene Pearce in 1987, mother Irene Cloutier in 1997 and grandmother Kathleen Pearce in 1999.
The funeral was arranged by Perrin Funeral Chapel in New Liskeard with the service conducted at Elk Lake Nativity Parish on October 19. Lionel Venne officiated.
Cremation occurred in Saskatchewan with interment in Elk Lake.
Family and friends attending the service from out of town came from Toronto, Kitchener, North Bay, Sudbury, Warren, Matachewan and Temiskaming Shores.

Henrietta Farrow

Henrietta (Margret) Farrow of Haileybury died October 12, 2004 at the Temiskaming Hospital.
She was born in Cobalt on August 30, 1933 to John and Rose (Janes) Gilmour.
Mrs. Farrow was predeceased by her husband Percy Farrow in 1976; brothers Tom and Kenneth Gilmour; sisters Helen Prince, Annie Gilmour and Pearl Fowler.
She is survived by Elanor Lodes of Miami, Florida, sons Leonard Farrow and friend Olive Westbrook and her son Kurtis of Englehart, Jerry Farrow (wife Nancy) of Mississauga, Judy Cain (husband Richard) of North Bay, Susan Farrow of Sarnia and son Reg Farrow and family of Timmins, Andy Chenetz of Belle Vallee; grandchildren Amanda, Jeffrey, Debbie, Sara and Ashley; great-grandson Terry; and nephew Ted Prince.
The funeral was arranged by Buffam L veill Funeral Home in Haileybury with the service conducted October 15 by Pastor Wally Wood.
Pallbearers were Leonard Farrow, Jerry Farrow, Ricky Lalonde, Debbie Farrow, Sarah Farrow and Tanya Letellier.
Burial is at Mount Pleasant cemetery in Haileybury.
Relatives and friends attending the service from out of town came from Mattawa and Ottawa.
In memory contributions were made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Lance Anthony McAnaul

Lance Anthony McAnaul died suddenly on the evening of October 6, 2004 in his forty-second year.
Mr. McAnaul is survived by his best friend and loving companion Linda and stepchildren Christopher (Ronda), Sarah (Kevin), Jan (Anick), Jeremy and Bridget Lacko; sadly missed by his parents Lorne and Glenda (Browne) McAnaul; grandparents George and Leona (Morin) McAnaul; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, stepgrandchildren, friends and coworkers from Ontera where he had worked for the past four years.
Mr. McAnaul was born in Haileybury on October 7, 1962. He will always be remembered for his love of the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time at his new hobby in his woodworking shop. In his younger years he loved to play hockey and was a star defenseman for the Haileybury 54 s.
Mr. McAnaul was always sensitive to the needs of others and was always willing to help out in time of need. He always put the needs of others first. He especially loved spending time with his family, friends and his faithful dog Brutus.
The funeral was arranged by Buffam L veill Funeral Home in Haileybury with the service held on October 12 at St. Patrick s Catholic Church in Cobalt.
Father John Lemire officiated with interment at St. Theresa cemetery in Cobalt.
Cremation has occurred.
A luncheon was served by the Catholic Women s League at the Golden Age Club in Cobalt.
Friends and family from as far away as the state of Georgia attended the funeral.
Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be gratefully appreciated by the family.

Marjorie May Lapsley

Northview Nursing Home resident Marjorie May Lapsley died October 6, 2004.
She was born in Hamilton on April 26, 1913 to Bertrand and Rose (Niles) Howard and on September 6, 1941 married Arnot Lapsley in West Flamboro. She moved to Englehart from Cambridge.
Mrs. Lapsley was a wife, mother and grandmother, homemaker and foster parent. An artist from childhood, she was an organist, violinist and poet.
Mrs. Lapsley was predeceased by her husband Arnot and by her brother Bertrand Howard.
She is survived by her children David (Mary) of Cambridge, Sharon (Humberto) Ramos of Medellin, Columbia, Ted (Nancy) of Cambridge and Heather (Robert) Waterman of Englehart; grandchildren Carolyn and Jonathon, Tim, Judy and Jeffrey, Peter and Kimberly; and by one great-grandson.
The funeral was arranged by McDonald Funeral Home in Englehart where the service was conducted by Doug Edwards on October 9.
Burial was at the Kirkwall cemetery in Kirkwall, Ontario.
Relatives and friends from Cambridge attended the service.
In memory contributions to the Northview Nursing Home Activity Fund would be appreciated by the family.

Bertha Jacques

North Cobalt resident Bertha Jacques died October 11, 2004 at the Temiskaming Hospital.
She was born in Haileybury on May 23, 1930 to Joseph Meunier and Oliva Serr .
A homemaker, she married Cyrille Jacques in New Liskeard on August 30, 1951.
Mrs. Jacques is survived by her husband Cyrille; children Raymond (Christine) Jacques, Rachelle (Ted) Heard, Jeannine (Jean-Marc) L veill , Denis (Kelly) Jacques, Michel (Lorraine) Jacques, R jean (Lynn) Jacques, Carole (Donald) D raiche, Lucille (Claude) Morin; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brother Laurier Meunier; and sister Emelda (Jean Guy) Hamel.
The funeral was arranged by Buffam L veill Funeral Home in Haileybury with visitation Thursday, October 14 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
The service is at Holy Cross Church on Friday, October 15 at 11 a.m. Father Germain Turcotte will officiate.
Burial is at the North Cobalt cemetery.
In memory contributions to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
