Kathleen Connelly
After a short illness, Kathleen Connelly of New Liskeard died November 8, 2004 at the Temiskaming Hospital.
She was born May 24, 1918 to Claude and Pearl Pelletier in North Cobalt.
Educated in Cobalt, she married Arnold Connelly in Kirkland Lake and moved to this area in 1944.
Mrs. Connelly was a loving wife and mother who loved to cook, knitt, sew, and she enjoyed her children and grandchildren. She was also a member of St. Paul s United Church in New Liskeard.
Mrs. Connelly is survived by her brother Claude Pelletier (Beverly), daughters Ruth Watson (Norm), Norma Josefowich (Ted), Barbara Jacks (Bruce) and Pat Hartzke (Ed); sons Bob Connelly (Helen), Tom Connelly and Doug Connelly; 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband on January 10, 1963 in New Liskeard and by her sisters Bertha, Mildred and Phyllis.
The funeral was arranged by Perrin Funeral Chapel in New Liskeard where the service was conducted by Reverend Kitty Miller.
Pallbearers were grandsons Peter Connelly, Brent Connelly, David Josefowich, Rick Watson, Dan Watson, Mark Watson and Brian Connelly (honourary pallbearer).
A wonderful eulogy was delivered by her grandson Shane Hartzke.
Burial has taken place.
Relatives and friends attending the funeral from out of town came from Kingston, Cambridge, North Bay and Kirkland Lake.

Bruce Despres
Bruce Despres died suddenly at his home on Thursday, November 11, 2004 at the age of 45.
Mr. Despres was born in Kirkland Lake on March 2, 1959 and was educated in New Liskeard. He is survived by his loving parents Thomas and Barbara Despres; his sister Patricia Lauder; and nephew Jim Lauder.
The Despres Family will welcome friends at Holy Cross Catholic Church on Wednesday, November 17 beginning at 10:30 a.m. Funeral mass will follow in the church at 11 a.m. with Father Germain Turcotte officiating.
Memorial contributions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Temiskaming Hospital CAT Scan Fund would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Buffam L veill Funeral Home in Haileybury.

Neil Patrick Fleming
Neil Patrick Fleming died peacefully on November 3, 2004 at the Sandalwood Park Nursing Home in Brampton.
Mr. Fleming, a long-time Haileybury and North Bay resident, was in his ninetieth year.
Predeceased by his loving wife of 49 years, Anna Mary (nee Cotnam), he is survived by his children Stephen (Leslie) and Gary (Jan) of Brampton, Shaun (Kathie) of Edmonton, Hugh (Barb) of Kitchener; grandchildren Rosemary, Maggie, Erin, Jennifer and Sean; and great-grandchildren Ashleigh and Amanda.
A private family service was held November 13 followed by interment at St. Mary s cemetery in North Bay.

Edward Charles Pritchard
Elk Lake resident Edward Charles Pritchard died November 9, 2004 in Englehart.
He was born in London, England, to William and Elisabeth Pritchard on February 17, 1920 and moved to Canada as a baby.
Mr. Pritchard served during the war from 1941-45 and worked as a mechanic with the Ministry of Natural Resources.
Mr. Pritchard was predeceased by his son Arron Pritchard and grandson Earl Payne.
He is survived by his children Muriel (Pritchard) and husband Jerry Payne, Andrew Pritchard, Fred Pritchard, Peter Pritchard (wife Arlene), Marianne (Pritchard) Coull, Richard Pritchard (wife Denise), Glen Pritchard, John Pritchard (wife Heather) and Jody (Pritchard) and husband Arnold Puccini; grandchildren Ophelia Huard, Richard, Jessie and Cindy Payne, Steven, Therese and Arron Pritchard, Amanda Garcia, Shannon and Alisha Pritchard, Eric Coull, Correne, Mathew, Eddie and Samantha Pritchard, Mercedes and Andreas Puccini; great-grandchildren Derek and Courtney Huard, Tiffany Coe, Joshua and Jacob Payne, Larissa and Natisha Pichette, Candace Hannah and Jenna Pritchard.
The funeral was arranged by Perrin Funeral Chapel in New Liskeard with the service conducted by Reverend Richard White at the Elk Lake Legion Branch 310.
Pallbearers were Mr. Pritchard s six eldest grandsons.
Burial is at Poplar Grove cemetery in Elk Lake.

Marion Wink
In loving memory of our dear mother and grandmother Marion who passed away peacefully on November 13, 2004.
Those whom we love go out of sight,
But never out of mind;
They are cherished in the hearts
Of those they leave behind.
Loving and kind in all her ways,
Upright and just in all her days;
Sincere and true in heart and mind,
Beautiful memories she left behind.

Dearly remembered by son Ronald and wife Lynda (Schumacher), daughter Christine (North Bay), daughter Linda and Dirk (Vancouver), son Richard (New Liskeard) and grandchildren Andrea, Dan, Jeff, Alyssa and Eliot.
The funeral service was held at Perrin Funeral Home on Monday, November 15, 2004. The family has requested that donations be made to the Arthritis Society.

Logan Thomas Waugh
On October 10, 2004 Logan Thomas Waugh died quietly in Maple Ridge at the age of 22. He is survived by his loving parents Fred and Rhaven; brother Basil; sister Serene; and is lovingly remembered by his Grandma and Grandpa Ott, the Waugh and Blaney families, numerous good friends, along with Missy and Coco. Mr. Waugh will be remembered as a boy with the biggest of hearts and an infectious spirit. The funeral service was held on October 15 at Garden Hill Funeral Chapel in Maple Ridge. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of choice in his honour will be appreciated by the family.

Albert Joseph Bastien
Albert Joseph Ab Bastien of Elk Lake died October 31, 2004 at the Englehart and District Hospital. He was born in Elk Lake on May 30, 1923. Mr. Bastien is survived by his children Richard (wife Luz) of Vancouver, Judy (husband John Campbell) of Charlton and David (partner Richard) of Hamilton; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Joan (Bickell) and daughter Debbie. The funeral is arranged by McDonald Funeral Home with the service to be conducted November 6 at Nativity Parish in Elk Lake by Lionel Venne. The time is yet to be confirmed. Cremation with burial at Elk Lake Public cemetery to follow. In memory contributions to the Elk Lake Museum or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.

William Herman Haase
Northview Nursing Home resident William Herman Haase died October 24, 2004 in Englehart. He was born in Charlton on July 16, 1920 to Abe and Jean Haase. Mr. Haase lived a full life with many experiences. In his younger years he worked at Avro as a tool and die maker on the Avro Arrow. He was employed by American Motors for years and after moving to Northern Ontario retired in 1972. Mr. Haase served on the Charlton town council and took care of water treatment, the cemetery and garbage as well as public works programs. A gentle man, Mr. Haase was known for his sense of humour and his love of nature and gardening. Mr. Haase is survived by his children Wayne Haase of Edmonton, Brad Haase of Kenora, Steve Haase of Denmark, Valerie Crocker of Lethbridge, Carol Faulkner of Grande Prairie, Alberta; 2 sisters, 4 brothers, 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his grandson Kelly Crocker on February 10, 1992 and his wife Marion (Hueston) Haase on May 5, 2002. The funeral was arranged by McDonald Funeral Home in Englehart where the service was conducted by Pastor Peter Ruel on October 27. Pallbearers were Chris Wylie, Dwayne Crocker, Mike Haase, Bryan Haase, Ivan Brownlee and Bill De Vries. Burial is at the Charlton cemetery.
Relatives and friends attending the service from out of town came from Grande Prairie, Edmonton, Lethbridge, Kenora, Brampton, Whitby, Coburg and Trenton. In memory contributions were made to Northview Nursing Home.

Ross Johnson
Former long-time Haileybury resident Ross Johnson died at the General Hospital, Sault Ste. Marie on October 20, 2004, his sixty-first birthday. Born to Tri-Town residents Otto and Mary Johnson, he was predeceased by his father in 1967 and by his mother in 1992. Shortly thereafter Mr. Johnson relocated to Sault Ste. Marie. He is survived by his sisters Ann Watson (Steve) of Sault Ste. Marie and Cathy Bigelow (George) of Courtenay, British Columbia, four nieces, two great-nephews and a great-niece. A memorial service was held on October 25 at Extendicare Van Daele in the Soo.

Stanley Raymond Quast

Stanley Raymond Quast died suddenly on October 13, 2004 at the age of 59.
Mr. Quast is sadly missed and loved by his wife Pat Quast; mother Luella Schruder (n e Quast); mother-in-law Edith Field; children Adam (Andrea), Angie (Shane), Jeff (Barb) and Kirk (Cheryl); grandchildren Maureen, Naomi, Shawn-Douglas, Shayla, Hailey and Ethan; brother-in-law Fred (Linda) Field; special buddy Sampson; siblings Claire (Jane) Lemke of Egansville, Ontario, Wayne Lemke and Dean Lemke of Campbell River, British Columbia, Terry (Wendy) Allems of Oshawa, Kathy (Brian) Ehinger of Courtney, B.C., and Jim (Irene) Schruder of Egansville; the Miller family (Rose, Diane, Sandra, Linda, Betty, Cindy, godson Michael), and many nephews and nieces.
Mr. Quast was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be remembered for his sense of humour, outgoing personality and the unforgettable way he touched the lives of everyone he met.
Mr. Quast spent most of his years working as an ambulance and air ambulance attendant. Before that he worked in the bush with his grandfather. He also drove truck, delivering explosives on the ice roads of Lake Temagami, and also drove a delivery truck for a mining equipment supplier in Kirkland Lake. He worked extensively with Dr. Mallett, assisting in the coroner s department. He was currently employed at Wabi Development Corporation and also enjoyed working at the store that he and his wife Pat owned, Memory Lane Antiques and Gifts.
Stan will forever remain in our thoughts and our hearts. His memory will forever live on in the faces of his children and grandchildren, said his family.
The funeral was arranged by McDonald Funeral Home in Englehart with the service conducted October 19 at the Englehart Community Hall.

Frederick Burrows Ball

Frederick Burrows Ball died on October 24, 2004 at the Temiskaming Hospital.
He was born in Eversley (King City), Ontario on July 22, 1926 to James Edward Ball and May Harrison.
Educated in Eversley, he was a farmer for 30 years in King City and 12 years in Notre Dame du Nord, Quebec. He retired in 1989 to Haileybury.
Mr. Ball married his wife Judith (Heath) on September 4, 1954 in Sharon, Ontario. He recently celebrated his fiftieth wedding anniversary with family and friends.
Mr. Ball was an active and committed member of the Haileybury Pentecostal Assembly. Despite his children living great distances away across Canada, he kept his family close to his heart.
Mr. Ball is survived by his wife Judith; sisters Alma Marie Rattray, Dorothy Gilson and Nancy Margaret Ball; children Crystal-Anne Ball of the Northwest Territories, Wanda Self in Ontario, Harrison Ball and Rodger Ball of Quebec and Sharon Lake of the Northwest Territories; grandchildren Jessica Self and Jonathan Self of Ontario, Dayna Ball, Corey Ball and Richard Ball of Quebec, Joshua Lake of the Northwest Territories.
He was predeceased by his parents, brother John-Garfield Ball, sister Betty-Jane Chatburn and first born child James Harrison Ball.
The funeral was arranged by Buffam L veill Funeral Home in Haileybury. The service will be conducted Friday, October 29 at 11 a.m. at the Haileybury Pentecostal Assembly. Pastor Dan Thompson will officiate.
In memory contributions to The Gideons will be appreciated by the family.
