- Shop now for incredible insights into your wellbeing -CHETNER -- Mrs. Rose Chetner passed away peacefully at the Beverly Care Centre on October 26, 1997 at the age of 98 years.
Rose was predeceased by her husband Israel in 1973, her son-in-law Al Viner, granddaughter Robin and her husband Allen Goldstein.
She is survived by her daughters, Belle Viner of Calgary and Dorothy and her husband Sam Belzberg of Montreal. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Ian and Marsha Viner of Calgary, Lynn Viner of Montreal, Marilyn Belzberg of Montreal, Brian and Shirley Belzberg of Toronto, Allan and Lorinda Belzberg of Baltimore; as well as thirteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family wish to express their appreciation to the Beverly Care Centre for their special care to our "Mom" and very special thanks to Linda Sylvester. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of the donor's choice.
Graveside Services will be held at the Jewish Cemetery (30 Avenue and Erlton Street S.W.), today, October 28, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. with Interment to follow.

DAVIS -- Lou Harry Davis, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully on October 26, 1997 at the Beverly Centre for Long-Term Care at the age of 77 years. Lou is survived by his wife Eva; his daughter Gail Sidorsky and her husband Brian; and his cherished grandchildren, Faye Bellerose and her husband Roland, Ryan Sidorsky and Laura Sidorsky. He is also survived by his step-children, Adam and Robbie Moscovitch; his sisters, Sara Hochman and her husband Sam, Annette Gordon and her husband Louis, and Rosetta Isenstein; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Lou was predeceased by his first wife Faye Ellenberg in 1969. Lou was born September 25, 1920 and spent his early years in Rockyford, Alberta. At the age of nineteen, Lou voluntarily joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and after the war commenced employment at the Calgary Shoe Hospital where he worked for over thirty years. Lou was an avid supporter of Israel and a founding member of the Shaarey Tzedec Synagogue, president of the Zionist Men's Club, a member of B'Nai B'rith, and the Jewish War Veteran's Organization. Lou will be lovingly remembered for his love and devotion to his family. He was a kind and caring man who always placed the welfare of his family first. He will stay forever in our hearts as our beloved Zaida. DOCKERY -- Irene Joanne (Laurie), age 69, passed away October 23, 1997 at her residence. She was born August 7, 1928 in Brooks, AB. She is survived by her mother Eva Laurie of Calgary; a daughter Maureen Clarke of Delta, BC; a son George McCauley (Lillian) of Calgary; six grandchildren, Christian, Colleen Clarke, Lindsay, Eric, Nicholas, Michael McCauley; and numerous nieces and nephews. Irene was predeceased by her father William Laurie in 1970. Calgary was her home for most of her life. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Alberta Branch No. 1. Irene spent many years in the banking industry where she received the White Hatter Award in 1961 for giving the best service and possessing the most pleasant personality. FOLEY -- Lyla May. On October 25, 1997, Mrs. Lyla Foley of Edmonton, formerly of the Calgary area (Shephard), passed away. She leaves to mourn, three sons, Lorne, Dean and Bill; one sister Gladys Robinson; one brother Gordon MacGregor; longtime friend Mrs. Helen Kilroe of Calgary; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a host of friends. She was preceded by her husband John Foley in 1953. We would like to thank Dr. Tom Ranieri and the excellent nurses and caregivers of Mother's at the Misericordia Hospital, 7 West. FORSTER -- Margaret Olga, beloved wife of Mr. Bert Forster, passed away peacefully at Foothills Hospital on October 25, 1997 at the age of 66 years. Besides her loving husband, she will be lovingly remembered by her son Nick (Tina); her sister Mary (Allan) Mac Donald of Nelson, BC; four nieces, one nephew, as well as numerous cousins. Margaret devoted her time and ability to A.R.B.I., Red Cross and "Meals on Wheels". GUENTHER -- In loving memory of Susanna (Susan) Guenther who passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 25, 1997 at the age of 79 years. HALSTEAD -- Mrs. Celia Mildred. On Saturday, October 25, 1997 Mrs. Celia Halstead of Drayton Valley, formerly of Calgary, passed away at the age of 87 years. She leaves to mourn her loss her loving daughter, Mildred Jones of Drayton Valley; three grandchildren, Patricia (Calvin) Nixon of Spruce Grove, Susan (Clayton) Hines of Rocky Rapids, Brent Jones of Turner Valley; two great-grandchildren, Amber and Cory Hines. Mrs. Halstead was predeceased by her husband Art in 1974, two sisters, Bernice White of Nanton, Blanche Burrows of Nanton, and her brother Vernon Anderson of Stavely. In respect of Mrs. Halstead's wishes, Cremation has taken place and a Private Graveside Service will take place in Calgary at a later date.
