SUITOR - Jean Lolita (Nee Black) Jean died peacefully at the Allen Gray Continuing Care Centre in Edmonton on Sunday, May 7, 2000. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Ann and Charles Grant, Patricia and Peter Ward, Robert and Marnie Suitor; grandchildren, Catherine, Alison and Allan Grant, Kathryn and Anna Ward, Jane and Gerry McDade, Warren Suitor. Also mourning are Barbara Suitor, Nicki and Lindsay Moon. Jean was predeceased by her husband Warren in May 1993. A Memorial Service will be held at St. John The Evangelist Anglican Church, 11111 - 57 Avenue, Edmonton, on Thursday, May 11, at 12:00 noon, reception to follow. TORRES - Miguelito Quiroga (Gil) Torres, beloved husband of Mrs. Precy Torres of Calgary, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on May 7, 2000 at the age of 45 years. Gil was born on May 8, 1954 in Mangatarem, Pangasinan, Philippines. Besides his loving wife Precy, Miguelito "Gil" is survived by his children, Giphrey, Gillypher and Gicylle. He is also survived by his father Primo Torres; his mother Perla Torres; brothers and sisters in the Philippines; as well as brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. UNTEREINER - Katie After a long and courageous battle with cancer, on Sunday, May 7, 2000, Katie attained her angel status at the age of 14. She is survived by her loving parents, Bob and Barb of Edmonton; grandparents, Bob and Terry Bacho of Edmonton, and Jim and Ruth Cherry of Westbank, B.C.; aunts and uncles, Dianne (Myron) Wells, Margaret Bacho, Mike Untereiner, Ray (Brenda) Untereiner, Diane (Bob) Dillon, Yvonne (Blair) Brown, Marg Cherry (Bruce) Wagner, John (Jessie) Cherry; as well as many cousins and special friends. She was predeceased by her grandfather Ignace Untereiner. Special thanks to all Katie's caregivers over the past two years. WELLS - George Edwin Wells of Calgary, passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital on Sunday, May 7, 2000 at the age of 87 years. George was born May 27, 1912 in Carnduff, SK and was a teacher for thirty-five years. He retired in 1968 and moved to Calgary where he watched his grandchildren grow up. George is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Garnet and Valerie Wells of Edmonton; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Jack Horn of Calgary; six grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, Shawn, Kelly-Lynn, Graham and Nicole; and a great-grandson Kristopher. He was predeceased by his wife Alvina. WILKINSON - (nee Smeaton), Mary McAulay, died peacefully at Rosedale Hospice on May 8, 2000 at the age of 63. She will be missed and lovingly remembered by her husband John, her six children: Christopher (Suzanne), Cherylanne (Carlo), Donna, Murray, Samantha (Brad), Fiona and seven grandchildren: Joni, Ian, Haley, Andrew, Simone, Eric, and JeanLuc. She is also survived by her brother Peter and two sisters Henrietta and Helen, and numerous nieces and nephews in England. Mary was a teacher and used this gift to help many children. She was very involved with the Presbyterian Church in Canada and its mission. She was an active member of the Presbytery of Calgary-MacLeod providing support for its ministers for many years. Her many friends will remember her as one who gave of herself willingly and who always had an ear to listen and shoulder to cry on. Mary felt truly blessed to have the support of so many as she struggled with her cancer. Special thanks to Dr. R. MacDonald, her many specialists and nurses at Foothills Hospital, Renata, Carol, Suzie, Catherine and Marlene from Home Care, her nurses from WeCare and all of the special people who loved and cared for her at Rosedale Hospice. PAUL - Jay Alexander Paul of Aldersyde, passed away on July 3, 2000, at the age of 51 years. Jay was born at High River on March 4, 1949. He was predeceased by his father Jack Paul in 1972. He leaves to mourn, his mother Dot Paul, Claresholm; his sisters, Gayle McWilliam, Port Coquitlam, B.C., and Marilyn and Tom Curry, Claresholm; and his brother Jack and Bonnie Paul, Medicine Hat; as well as his special friend Sandra Pye, Calgary; his "second mother" Myrt Ethel Johnston, Claresholm; and his nieces, Brenda (John) Shields, Melody (Phil) McDonell and Charley (Kevin) Stokes; and nephews, Tom (Diana) Sandeman, Darcy (Reeny) Sandy, Brian (Nicki) Sandy and Tyler Paul. Jay attended school in Okotoks and Surrey, B.C., graduating from B.C.I.T. with a diploma in Building Technology. Jay's life's work was in the commercial construction industry. He worked on various projects across Canada and Nigeria, Africa. He recently teamed up with two friends, Larry and Brian Jacobsen to form BARJAC Contracting. Jay enjoyed golfing, making wine and hosting Regattas on his duck pond. Jay took great pride in his acreage and log home. He will be sadly missed but will be cherished in our memory. PORTER - Thomas William. Tom passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2000 at the age of 84. He is survived by his wife Kay; son Tom (Maureen) of Edmonton; daughter Ann (Don) Cockerton of Calgary; and son Don (Rhonda) of Canberra, Australia. He is also survived by his cherished grandsons, Tim Eustace of Calgary and Kevin Porter of Edmonton; and his step-grandchildren Libby, Peter, Hannah and Adam. Tom will be fondly remembered by his family and his many nieces and nephews. Tom was born on the family farm in Chemainus, BC in 1915, the youngest of eleven children. He proudly served Canada in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II. Tom worked as Director of Maintenance and Engineering at the General Hospital from 1954 to 1962. He then moved to the Foothills Hospital and took great pride in the planning, construction and maintenance of the Foothills. He retired in 1979 but continued a keen interest in the Foothills Hospital. Tom enjoyed family, watching sports, fishing, gardening and nature. He will be remembered for his great barbecuing skills, his enthusiasm for cribbage games and his story-telling. Kay and Ann extend sincere thanks to the wonderful caring staff at Agape Manor Hospice. RAJKO - Ilona (Ili) Rajko, beloved wife of John of Calgary, passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 2, 2000. Ili was born in Felsogalla, Hungary and married John, the love of her life, on April 5, 1945 in Austria. During the Hungarian Uprising, they left Hungary and arrived in Canada on Christmas Day 1956, finally reaching Calgary on December 31 of the same year. Since 1965, Ili was involved in the travel business, arranging charter flights. In 1982 she formed her own company, Budapest Travel Service where she arranged and escorted many tours to Hungary. She and John enjoyed travelling to many diverse areas of the world. Their favorite vacation spot was Hawaii, where they holidayed every year for twenty-six years, creating many cherished memories. Ili was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren were a source of immense joy in her life and she will be deeply missed by them and all who knew her. Besides her loving husband, Ili is survived by her beloved daughter and son-in-law, Marta and John Toltesi; and her two grandchildren, Christopher Toltesi, and Lisa Figeczki and her husband Steven. She is also survived by her sister Etel Rekay-Storey and her husband Terry, and her cousin Sandor (Duca) Jaszay, all of Calgary. Ili was predeceased by her parents, Ilona and Sandor Juhasz. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (10827 - 24 Street S.W.) today, July 6, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Timothy Boyle, Celebrant. The family wish to express their thanks to the doctors and nursing staff of Unit 74 at the Rockyview Hospital and to the Palliative Care Unit at Glenmore Park Carewest. SAUNDERS - James "Jim" Wilfred Saunders of Calgary, passed away July 3, 2000 at the age of 74 years after a courageous battle with cancer. Jim was born April 23, 1926 in Calgary where he resided all his life. He also farmed in the Cheadle District for thirty-seven years. Jim is survived by Doris, his wife and companion of fifty-three years; his son and daughter-in-law, Gordon and Yvonne of Calgary, Alberta, grandchildren, Rebecca, Pamela and Liana; his son and daughter-in-law, Leonard and Donna of Lethbridge, Alberta, grandchildren, Cathy and Jeffrey; his daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Tom Umscheid of Sherwood Park, Alberta, grandchildren, Lisa and Heidi. Jim is also survived by his brother Ralph (Laura) Saunders of Airdrie; his sisters, Dorcas (Norm) Armstrong of Lake Chelan, Washington, and Bernice Watcher of Anacortes, Washington.
