WALLIN, Eileen (nee Wallace) Tuesday, 22 Apr 2008
Langley, BC
A bright new star arrived in the sky at 1:30am on April 22nd, 2008. Every night this star will shine down upon her loved ones: her three children, Brenda, Dianne and Greg, her five grandchildren, Kelly, Kristin, Sarah, Tessa and Jesse and her great grandson (her little angel) Owen. Pre-deceased by her husband Reuban Allan, many loved brothers and sisters, and endeared friends Daniella, Helen & Bruno.
Eileen was born in Verdun, Quebec, daughter of John and Janet Wallace, and met Reuban (a member of the Canadian Navy) in Halifax, in 1945, while serving as a wren in WWII. They married in Victoria, BC, in 1946, and settled in Burnaby where they raised their three children.
Eileen was a dedicated mother who enjoyed time gardening, swimming, curling, ice skating and entertaining. Eileen could often be found swimming early morning laps in the family pool, tending her rose gardens and hanging baskets or planning lavish dinner parties. Eileen was also an avid dancer, and in her later years greatly enjoyed getting dressed up for a night of ballroom dancing with her good friend Bruno.
Eileen supported her husband and was always by his side in establishing his very successful business. In later years, Eileen traveled extensively with Reuban to Europe, Asia, New Zealand, the Caribbean and her favorite place to share with her family, Maui, HA. The two of them also spent an abundant amount of time on their second home, the Golf Commander, traveling and exploring the seas of the West Coast together.
Being a Grandmother was one thing that Eileen cherished deeply. She was a loving, attentive, generous, fun, and nurturing Nanny. She was always there when she was needed and was often the guest of honor at her grandchildren's tea parties.
Eileen was a very committed friend and built long-lasting friendships with numerous, special people throughout her life. If you touched Eileen's heart she would never let go and she would cherish her friendships deeply. Eileen is remembered by two special friends, Margaret and Ida, who meant a great deal to her and provided wonderful support for her throughout the years.
Eileen will always be remembered by the people who loved her as a lady with class, beauty, dignity and grace. Her personality and beauty radiated from her and attracted those around her. Like Eileen, her star will now shine brightly upon her loved ones sending guidance and protection along their way until they meet again - for a dance amongst the stars.
A celebration of Eileen's life will be held on Wed. April 30th at 2:00pm at Ocean View Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial St., Burnaby.

CLARK, MARY ABBOTT Tuesday, 01 Jan 2008
Langley, BC
Long time Langley resident Mary Clark passed away peacefully in Langley Lodge on September 1, 2006. Born October 30, 1922 in Rivers Manitoba, she was pre-deceased by her husband Jim Clark, brother Bob Tivy, and son-in-law Barry Gaudette, and is survived by her brother Bill Tivy (June), sisters-in-law Fran Tivy and Margaret Clark, her four children Leslie Ann Gaudette, Mary-Jane (Jim Garnett), Jim (Shirley Fontaine), and Norman (Gwen Walker.) She will be sadly missed by her beloved grandchildren including Darrell, Lisa, Leanna, Tracey, Tara, Melissa, Sandra, Teresa, Angela, John and Shyan, her nieces and nephews and her extended family including a number of great-grandchildren.
Mary was an active woman of many talents, which she contributed generously to her family, friends, and community. She studied Home Economics at the University of Manitoba, where her athletic ability (she was a championship tennis player) resulted in a coveted letter for athletics. While working in Rivers during World War II, she met an RCAF navigator, Jim Clark whom she married on June 9, 1944. Following WWII, she and Jim resided in Winnipeg, where he completed a BSc. In 1949, she moved to Richmond, while Jim completed his teacher training at UBC, and finally to Langley in 1951. Mom happily applied her home economics training to raising her four children, sewing, knitting, baking bread, upholstering, canning and managing a large vegetable garden. Many Langley girls enjoyed the graduation dresses and wedding gowns she expertly sewed. As her family grew up, she taught swimming lessons and became an avid golfer at Newlands Golf Course, where she once scored a hole in one. She was a founding member of the Langley Weavers and Spinners, active in a cross-country ski group, an enthusiastic supporter of the Langley Players, and was Co-Area Coordinator with Jim for Marriage Encounter. Following Jim's death in 1996, she continued to live in her home of 40 years. As her health deteriorated she moved in 2001 to Magnolia Gardens and in 2002 to her daughter's home in Surrey. As her journey through dementia progressed she was fortunately able to move back to Langley and following in her mother Stella Tivy's footsteps became a well-known resident of Langley Lodge. Here she developed new skills as a mean snare drummer in the music therapy class. At long last she is now at peace with her beloved Jim. Many thanks to the staff at Langley Lodge for the excellent care provided to Mom. A Memorial Service was held at St. George's Anglican Church in Fort Langley on Wednesday, September 6 with a reception provided by the Anglican Church Women of St. George's. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or Langley Lodge.
