THIELMANN, Albert D. Sunday, 21 Oct 2007
Abbotsford, BC
Albert went to be with his Lord, the One he loved and served, on October 21, 2007. He was born in Friedensfeld, Ukraine, September 12, 1930, under corrupt communist rule. When Albert was seven, Secret Police entered his family home at night and took his father, which was tragically all too common during this time. As his father was being led away he said to Albert, "Take good care of your brother." He never saw his father again. Three weeks later his second brother was born. During the war, as refugees, they daily experienced God's marvelous provision, protection and guidance. In 1948, Albert's family immigrated to Canada and settled in Coaldale, Alberta. In his early 20s Albert moved to Vancouver where he met the love of his life, Mary, with whom he shared the same childhood history. They raised their five children in Burnaby. Albert owned and operated a successful construction and development company. In 1978 they moved to Mt. Lehman where he enjoyed working the land and treasured the beautiful river and mountain views. He and Mary have since been active members of Central Heights Church. As Albert neared retirement he enjoyed time with his grandchildren, keeping up on world news, and traveling. Their home was never empty, as they were always hosting guests and family. Albert will always be known for his generous spirit and strong faith in God.
He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, (his Schatzie) Mary; his children Marvin (Heather), Bruno (Sharon), Al (Debbie), Marianne (Bruce) Konrad, and Evelyn (Steve) Klassen; 17 grandchildren and one great grandson. Also survived by his brothers Jacob (Elfrieda) and John (Lena) and half brother Harry (Heather) Kroeker. Predeceased by his father Herman Thielmann, mother Olga Kroeker, and half sister Annette Loland.
A celebration of Albert's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Nov. 3 at Central Heights Church, 1661 McCallum Road, Abbotsford.
Many thanks to Menno Hospital staff for the care Albert received over the past 18 months. Donations gladly welcomed for Logos Canada.
