REINDERHOFF, Sheila Elaine (nee: Kehler) Wednesday, 17 Sep 2008
Abbotsford, BC
Forever in our hearts and memories
21 April 1955 ~ 17 September 2008
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sheila following a short battle with cancer in Mackenzie, B.C. Sheila had devoted the last three years to the care of her passing eight months ago. Always putting others first, she ranked her own wellbeing as secondary. Remembering her forever is her son Nathan Kehler (Tanya), Petawawa, ON. She will also be forever remembered by her loving father Jake Kehler from Edson, AB, twin sister Shirley McCallum (Michael), Mackenzie, B.C., sister Marilyn Cunningham (Jim), Qualicum Beach, B.C., sister Marilyn Imanse (Will), Langley, B.C., and sister Dianna Riggs (Phil) Edson, AB. She also leaves behind Jerry's children Heather (Dale), Kelowna, B.C. and Rob (Kelli), Prince George, B.C.
Sheila also touched the hearts of her many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and good friends. Annie, Sheila's "puppy" will dearly miss her mama. At the time of her passing Sheila was Commanding Officer of the Air Cadets, Mission Squadron. Despite her battle with cancer she was employed as a Cadet Instructor at Albert Head (Victoria, BC) until her admission to hospital. Sheila had a passion and dedication for what she was doing to try and make a difference in a young cadet's life. Her involvement with cadets spanned for greater than ten years to which she attained the rank of Captain. Sheila was a very strong woman and wore her uniform and responsibility with pride.
Another passion of Sheila's was gardening and camping. In general she loved to be outdoors enjoying the sounds of nature and getting her hands in the dirt. Everyone will fondly remember her love for cooking, baking and canning. Sheila will be reuniting with her mum Joan, and her brothers Don, Terry and Ritchie.
A celebration of her life will take place at the Woodlawn Mission Funeral Home, 7386 Horne Street, Mission, B.C. on Friday, September 26, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. She will rest beside her mother and husband in Squamish, B.C. the following day at 1:00 p.m. All friends are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Canadian Cancer Society or 521 Aurora (RCACS), Mission City, B.C. Many thanks to all.

KLASSEN, Erna Sunday, 14 Sep 2008
Abbotsford, BC
June 13th, 1914 - Sept. 14th, 2008
Erna Klassen was one of 6 children born to Jacob and Katharina Claassen on June 13th, 1914 in Millerowa, Russia. The Claassen family emigrated to Irapuato, Mexico in 1925. Soon after, when Canada re-opened it's doors to Russian immigrants again, the family joined many of their relatives who had already settled in North Kildonan (Winnipeg), Manitoba.
As the oldest daughter, Erna began working outside the home, sewing, cooking, cleaning and nannying to assist with the family income during those difficult years in their new country. In 1942 she married Jack (J.D.) Klassen, her favourite skating partner. They had 4 children and began a new life by moving to Chilliwack, B.C. where Erna and Jack ran a raspberry patch, a corner store, a dairy farm, and a motel business together. In their retirement years, they pulled up roots and moved to Clearbrook. During these years most winter months were spent in Palm Springs, California where friends, children and grand-children recall many happy memories.
Erna was a "behind the scenes" lady. Even close friends were not aware of the hours she spent at the Abbotsford MCC, volunteering MANY hours at the store and at home - sewing, knitting, and crochetting baby blankets and more to be sent overseas. We had to move quickly to grab an afghan or a winter scarf and hat before she donated "yet another one" to the needy. We will remember that all through her Christian life she never ceased to pray for each family member, by name.
Erna is survived by one sister, Susanne (Lynch) in California; 4 children - Rick (Marylin) Klassen, Dorothy (Rich) Cummings, Sue (Len) Epp, Betti (Ernie) Krahn, 10 grand- children - Mike (Dee) Klassen, Melanie (Keith) Butt, Sandra (Leith) Handley, Wendy (Casey) Haley, Susan (Josh) Lepin, Jason (Melanie) Epp, Joel (Gina) Epp, Andrew (Jenny) Krahn, Rich (Meg) Krahn and Rob Krahn; also 10 great-grandchildren enriched her life.
Erna leaves behind a legacy of rich friendships and close family for which she was ever grateful to her Heavenly Father. The family wishes to thank Dr. John Chan, staff at Tabor Court and Abbotsford Regional Hospital, and Fraser Health Community Care nurses for their tireless tending to mom's health concerns over the past few years.
Thank you to all her friends and family for "loving her into glory". Our lives are richer and fuller because of your love to our mom.
Memorial Service to be held at Bakerview, M.B. Church on Thursday, September 18th at 2:30 p.m. Reception to follow in Church Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations to MCC would be appreciated.
