Winnifred “Wynne” passed away peacefully in her 96th year at The Gardens at Qualicum. She was supported in her final days by her daughter George-Anne Brooks and grandson Timothy Brooks.
Wynne was previously deceased by her husband George S. Mitchell of Linden Avenue Victoria and Nanoose Bay.
Besides her daughter and grandson, she is survived by her brother Harold in Cranbrook, son-in-law Robin Brooks and granddaughter Samantha Brooks. Wynne will be remembered for her love of roses and as an accomplished fine artist. Her many oil paintings will be treasured by her family and friends.
Memorial service will be held at her log house in Nanoose Bay in the New Year.

It is with great sadness that the family of John Luis Botelho announces that on December 25, 2007, while vacationing in Beijing, China, he passes away peacefully at the age of 58. John Luis was born on November 23, 1949, in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal. He is survived by his beloved daughters, Laura, Corina, and Josienne, and their mother, Anne. He will be sadly missed by his parents, John and Maria Botelho, of Qualicum Beach, as well as his three sisters, three brothers and numerous nephews and nieces.
A funeral mass was held on Saturday, January the 12th at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Ascension in French Creek.

Rodney Bergstrom of Parksville, B.C. passed away December 23, 2007 aged 56 years.
Rod is survived by his loving wife Cheryl, 1 son - Kenny (Amanda) of Fort St. John, B.C., 1 daughter - Shauna (Mike) Morgan of Ladysmith, B.C., 2 granddaughters - Talia and Mackenzie both of Ladysmith, B.C.
He is also survived by 1 brother - Clifford (Bunt) Bergstrom of Mesachie Lake, B.C., 4 sisters - Fern Lamontagne of Campbell River, B.C., Diane (Mike) Hodgins of Duncan, B.C., Jeanine (Dale) Mangleson of Lake Cowichan, B.C., Susan (Jim) Henderson of Lake Cowichan, B.C., and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration Of Rod’s Life will be held at the Mt. Arrowsmith Royal Canadian Legion, 146 West Hirst Ave., Parksville, B.C. at 2:00 pm on Saturday December 29, 2007.

Good friends and extraordinary neighbours who were so supportive. Special Thanks to Dr. Henderson who gave generously of his time, caring and compassion.

Born in Kelliher, Saskatchewan.
It is with great sadness that we have lost our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Ron will be lovingly remembered by his wife Nancy, daughter Lyndy Lyon, son Greg Lyon, stepchildren Kathryn Blas (Gordon) and Kim Ansley (Cindy).
He was pre-deceased by his son Roderick (1978) and his brother Stanley (2006).
His grandchildren Matthew, Rene, Crystal, Ben, Timothy, Andrea, Jeremy, Douglas, Chad and Jade will miss their “Papa”, as will his five great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Ron has had an extended battle with Parkinson's Disease and blindness. He still managed for years to be an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to be in the outdoors. As a school Superintendent he was highly respected for his honesty and integrity throughout his career. He was always there to help teachers reach their goals. After many years as a Superintendent in Hope and Port Alberni he retired from the Kamloops School District in 1985. After retirement Ron worked in the province for Independent Schools.
Ron was a past president of the Port Alberni Gyro Club. He had many good jokes and loved telling them at parties and he enjoyed playing bridge.
A special thank you to all the friends who supported our family through this journey. To all those at “The Gardens at Qualicum Beach” who looked after Ron with such care and understanding, a huge bouquet.

Helen E. Finholm (Forsyth) born Feb. 04, 1911 in Scotland passed away Feb. 08, 2008.
Predeceased by her husband Victor, stepson Victor Jr., Brother Jack, sister Elizabeth Cummin, nephews Ernie and Gordon.
She is survived by her stepdaughter Shirley Galloway (John) step daughter-in-law Irene and step grandchildren Vicki Dugas (Terry), Carol Dines (Rick), Cheryl Lyons (Carl), Dona Naylor, Terry Galloway, Kasandra (Charlene) Ryane, Keith Finholm.
There will be no service by request.
Helen is well respected for her determination. She loved gardening. The family would like thank the staff at Trillium for their years of care.

Born in Dunfermline, Scotland, Isabella died peacefully in Qualicum Beach, B.C. after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. Predeceased by her husband, John, in 1988.
She will be remembered with love by her children John (Mary), George (Lindy), Heather-Jean (Robert McDonald) and her grandchildren, Steven (Jacqueline), Paul, Matthew (Hayley), Michelle (Robin), John, Jason (Cici), Brandon, Cortney Ewonus, and James, Andrew and Jeffrey McDonald; great-grandchildren Daniel, Julia, Bailey, Michaela and Diego. Also remembered lovingly by her cousin and best friend, Edna Petersen and many good friends in Qualicum Beach, Parksville and Vancouver.
Isabella taught Special Education at Lonsdale Elementary School in North Vancouver before retiring and moving to Parksville in 1989. Mum loved playing the piano and volunteered her time for many events in Parksville and Qualicum Beach.
To the staff at Qualicum Manor our family would like to express our gratitude and appreciation for your loving care to Mum.
Mass was celebrated on Monday, February 11, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Ascension, 887 Wembley Road, Parksville, B.C. with Father Jozef Kobos officiating.
