CLARK, John (Jack) Thursday, 24 Apr 2008
Parksville, BC
1938-2008
On April 24, after a long fight with cancer, Jack passed away peacefully at Eagle Park, his wife Doreen at his bedside.
Jack was born in Liverpool, England. He left school at fifteen to go into an apprenticeship to become a French Polisher. He married his first wife Pat, with whom he had four children; Gary, twins Angela and Paula, and Neil. Pat passed away in 1995.
Jack immigrated to Canada in 1998 when he met and married Doreen. People who met and knew Jack will remember his knowledge and love for furniture. He was a real master of his trade, and a great raconteur. Jack will be missed by his children and their partners; Denise, Razy and John, grandchildren; Stacy, Jonathan, Kayleigh, Gary & Christopher, his uncle John, also by Doreen's family Cathy (Dean), Stephen (Pirkko), and grandchildren Amanda, Caitlin, and Cody and many friends both here and in Liverpool.
Jack's wish was no service, but an open house in his memory will be held at 164 Crescent Road E., Qualicum Beach on May 9 between 3:00 - 5:00 PM
If desired, a donation to Oceanside Hospice Society in Jack's memory, would be appreciated.
A special heartfelt thanks to the home help who came to make his life more comfortable and the nursing staff at Eagle Park.

WEISENBERGER (nee Francoeur), Mildred Catherine Wednesday, 23 Apr 2008

1921-2008
passed away peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit of Nanaimo General Hospital on April 23, 2008 after a long and difficult battle with COPD.
Mom will be lovingly remembered by her children Bill (Susan) of Parksville, BC; Cathy (Paul Hunt) of Edmonton; Maureen (Jon London) of Graton, CA and Lorraine (Christopher Bolger) of Ottawa. Cherished Grandmother of Stephen, Kevin, Aaron, Sean, Michael and Claire. Mom was pre-deceased by our Dad, Fred in 1991 and by her brother Bill during WWII.
Mom was a true Montrealer in heart and in mind. Mom returned to school as a mature student and graduated with an RN degree, working in the Neo-Natal Unit at the Montreal Children's Hospital. Mom left Montreal and many dear friends and moved to Parksville in 2004, quickly making close friendships at Newcomers and with her Bridge groups. Although Mom had her share of health issues over the years, she handled each challenge with determination, stoicism and a smile. A special thanks to NGH, Qualicum Manor and particularly to the medical professionals who kept "patching her up."

Cremation in Parksville. Interment in Montreal in August. Donations to a charity of your choosing. We'll miss you Mom!

HEATCOAT, Dr. Roy E. Wednesday, 23 Apr 2008

Roy was born November 16th, 1951, passed away suddenly in his sleep on April 23, 2008
Predeceased by his father Edgar Heatcoat, father-in-law Juan Precones, mother-in-law Piar Mallorca; grandparents Ubald and Antoinette Heatcoat; Harry and Angelique Lafreniere. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife Francia and son Jayde of Qualicum Beach. Sons James (Melissa), Jason (Jayde) of Saskatoon, SK. His mother Giselle and brothers Lloyd (Coleen), Monty (Marjorie) of Assiniboia, SK; brother Perry (Yvette) and sister Penny (Ian) of Nanaimo. As well as numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Roy was the eldest son of Edgar and Gisele Heatcoat. He grew up on a farm seven miles south of Assiniboia Saskatchewan. As a child he was full of curiosity and brilliance, these attributes followed him through his life.
Roy was a rancher, a farmer and a second class power engineer. Hew was also a member of MENSA Canada Society has scored higher than 98% of the general population on a standardized intelligence test. In 1990 Roy received his Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology with Honors at the University of Saskatchewan. He joined the Canadian Air Force while he was a medical student in 1992.
Roy received his medical degree at the University of Saskatchewan in 1996 and his Family Medicine at UBC in 1998. And was awarded Captain in the Air Force and was stationed at CFB Stadacona Military Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
In 2000, Roy received his Flight Surgeon Wings and was assigned in Goose Bay, Labrador as the Wing Surgeon at 5th Wing Goose Bay. Later the Wing Surgeon at 17th Wing Winnipeg in Manitoba. When his service with the Air Force ended he joined the Reserve Force.
Roy started his medical practice in Qualicum Beach in February 2003. He was also a teacher (clinical) and mentor in the Undergraduate Family Medicine Program in the Faculty of Medicine at UBC. Roy enjoyed life, he cross country skied, he did camping, hiking, cycling, running, and weight lifting. And currently working on his blue belt in Taw Kwon Do. His passion was Art and Photography and riding his motorcycle. Other interests were fishing, landscaping and computers. He will be missed dearly by family, friends and all who know him.
Roy's family wish to thank those volunteers in the choir, violinist and singer, refreshment helpers and from people who sent cards and flowers. Patient and friends who attended the funeral mass.

ERICKSON, Audre Irene Tuesday, 22 Apr 2008

The mold was broken but your spirit lives on in your children and grandchildren.
Surrounded by your family, the end came peacefully at home at 4:45 AM on 22 April, 2008. You were a fighter throughout your life despite several chronic illnesses. Taking everything in stride, never complaining, never judging; you were loved by all who came in contact with you. This love continued right to the end as you were always considered to be living and not dying. Humour throughout assisted both you and your family through any tough times.
Audre is survived by her husband of 52 years, Bob; son and daughter in law, Greg Erickson and Jodi Olstead; daughter and son in law, Shannon and Rick Andersen; son and daughter in law, Brad Erickson and Megan Stone; son and daughter in law, Kurt and Barb Erickson; grandchildren Amanda, Lindsay, Dylan, Ryley and Brynn. Many relatives in BC, Alberta and the rest of Canada also survive her.
The family would like to thank all those in home care who helped Audre through the years, especially those of you who went above and beyond. You have, and always will have, a special place in the hearts of the family.
A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.

MORRIS, Constance Mildred Monday, 21 Apr 2008

Mildred Morris passed away at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital with her family by her side on Monday, April 21, 2008 at the age of 91 yrs.
Mildred was pre-deceased by her loving husband Royden. She is survived by her 3 sons: John (Anne) Bond, Donald (Susan) Bond and Jamie Bond; grandchildren Alison, Alexander, Sarah, David and Jennifer; great grandchildren Ariele; niece Carol, Amaryllis; nephews Frank and John.
Mildred was an active member of the Alter Guild of St. Marks Anglican Church in Qualicum Beach. Through this association she made many valuable friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Marks Anglican Church Qualicum Beach on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Alan Naylor officiating.

HJORLEIFSON, Magnus Monday, 21 Apr 2008

Hjorleifson, Magnus of Parksville, BC, passed away peacefully and suddenly on April 21, 2008 at the Nanaimo General Hospital.
The family thanks the staff of the Palliative Care Unit and Dr. R. Love.
Magnus was a kind and loving husband, father, and a jolly friend to many. Mike was honored in a family celebration Friday April 25th in Parksville, BC. Survived by his loving wife Beryl, son, Michael, Step-children, grandchildren and one great grandson, as well as his many friends in Manitoba, British Columbia and California.
A Memorial Service will be held in Gimli, Manitoba, mid-summer 2008. Date, time and place to be announced.

HUNTER, William Douglas of Nanoose Bay, BC, passed away on April 20, 2008 at the age of 83 years.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Janet, his sons Thomas (Alison) of Nanoose Bay and Carl of Errington; his daughters Marcie (Keith) Baker of North Vancouver and Lee Ann Nahanee of Burnaby; his 3 grandchildren: Whitney-Ann, Keegan and Meghan; 1 great granddaughter Destiny; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Hunter was pre-deceased by his sister, Audrey West on April 4, 2008.
There will be no service by request.

George passed away peacefully at Nanaimo Hospital on April 14th, 2008 after a courageous struggle with cancer. Survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Marge; daughters Jacquie (Paul) and Kate; grandchildren, Teneille, Dane, Bryce and Chase; Zac, Megan and Maddie. George was always interested in helping family, friends and his community. A Memorial Service will be held at Knox United Church, Parksville, BC on Friday, April 18, 2008 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Charity of one's choice.
