GODSON, Dorothy Agnes (Ferrier) Tuesday, 16 Oct 2007

Mom passed away peacefully at the Sidney Care Home on October 16, 2007, two days short of her 89th birthday. Survived by loving husband of 64 years, Ralph Calvert Godson. Survived by daughters, D. Gail Hanslo, Judith Godson, Shelley Nielsen, 5 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
Born in Edmonton, AB, moved to Vancouver in the 1930's with her family. She is the eldest daughter of a large family and survived by two sisters and two brothers spread across Canada.
Mom was active with various Church and Youth Groups, including the Woman's Institute. Throughout her life she held a variety of nursing jobs in the Vancouver area, continuing at Resthaven Hospital in Sidney. Mom and Dad moved to Sidney in 1966, returning in 2001 after 15 years of retirement to Qualicum Beach. A talented seamstress, she found much happiness and fulfillment in sewing and knitting for her children and grandchildren.
No formal service will be held at mom's request. Special thanks to the staff and friends at the Sidney Care Home for their care and compassion over the years. Our mom will be deeply missed.

HOOD, James Leonard Sunday, 14 Oct 2007

January 31, 1923 - October 14, 2007
passed away peacefully in hospital at the age of 84. Jim was born in Vancouver and was a proud British Columbian. During WWII, he served in the Canadian Armed Forces overseas, where he met his English bride, Edna. They raised their family in homes in Worsley, England, Vancouver, Kitimat, and Surrey. In later years, Jim and Edna lived in Parksville and Abbotsford. A cabinet maker and former building inspector, Jim was a talented, good-humoured man and a sometimes poet. He was a great husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather, and a friend to many. He will be missed by all.
Survived by wife Edna, sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren:Terry and Barbara (Geoffrey, Avril, and Laura), Dave and Judy (Katie and Lia) and Gary and Bev )Sean, Kirsten, and Ian). Also survived by sister Bernice and brother-in-law Ralph.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held at 12pm, Sunday October 28 at Ellwood Estates, 31406 Upper McLure Road, Abbotsford, BC.

GRAHAM, Thomas Robert Saturday, 13 Oct 2007

GRAHAM, Thomas Robert passed away suddenly at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria on Saturday, October 13, 2007.
Tom was born on January 7, 1935 in Summerland B.C. He worked for the C.P.R. ships and later, the B.C. Ferries. Tom was devoted to helping others whenever possible. He was an active member of the Qualicum Bay Lions and the Bowser Legion #211. He was an avid floor curler and loved to participate in the Seniors Games as well.
Tom is survived by his brother Peter Graham and wife Trink of Bowser, niece Carol Hopper and nephews Britt and Tim Graham, also a number of great nieces and nephews. Tom was much loved and it is with great sorrow that we bid him farewell on this, his final journey.
A celebration of life for Tom will be held at The Lighthouse Community Centre on Lions Way in Qualicum Bay on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at 2 pm.
Donations can be made to a charity of your choice.

BARNES, Ernest Roy Friday, 12 Oct 2007

June 18, 1932 – October 12, 2007
Roy spent his last hours with his beloved wife Helen Barnes in Arrowsmith Lodge Parksville, BC.
He was pre-deceased by his father E. Wicham Barnes, his brother Kenneth E. Barnes Sept 2/07 of Kitimat, BC, his first wife Betty Barnes in 1991, grandparents of the Barnes family and the Newell family as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins of both families, all of Victoria, BC.
He was survived by Helen Mary Barnes, son Eric Barnes, daughter Dianna Barnes (Eric Maw), stepchildren Bruce Jeffies, Crystal Dunahee (Bruce), Arthur Jeffies (Becky Williams), Larry Jeffies, Dorothy Arseneault (Chris), grandchildren James Barnes, Patrick Barnes, Monica Barnes, Michael Dunahee, Caitlin Dunahee, Jordan Arseneault, Cody Arseneault, Elliott Jeffies-Banner.
Roy came home to Victoria after Betty’s passing in 1991 and met his best friend of 55 years, his present wife Helen M. Barnes and their love and friendship returned and were happily married for 10 Years.
Roy started in the ROTC after a short career found that his talents lead him to a 33-year career in the Federal Government as a Personal officer. He was also a member of the RCL Branch 49 Parksville and a lover of playing darts.
There will be a viewing Thursday October 18, 2007 at Sands Funeral Chapel 317 Goldstream Av, Colwood, BC., from 6:00-8:00 pm. Memorial Services are Friday October 19, 2007 at 1:00 pm.

August 26, 1923 to October 12, 2007.
John passed away at home at the age of 84 from liver cancer. He died peacefully at home, alert and free of pain, with his wife and daughter at his bedside.
In WWII, he trained as a fighter pilot in the RAF, later transferring to the Fleet Air Arm – Sub Lt (A), RNVR – flying the American “Hellcat”.
John led a contented life and was active in Freemasonry and Order of the Eastern Star. He enjoyed a happy marriage and celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary in March of this year. He will be sadly missed by this wife Doreen, only daughter Caroline who he adored, and his son – in – law Alan.
A celebration of his life will be held at Yates Funeral Home, 1000 Allsbrook Rd., Parksville, B.C. on Tuesday, October 23rd, at 2 p.m.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Order of the Eastern Star Hospital Auxiliary, c/o #207-13680-84th Ave, Surrey, B.C. V3W0T6 and would be most gratefully received.

Crocini, Raymond Domenico Olympio, of Whiskey Creek, Qualicum Beach died in Nanaimo Hospital on the 17th of February, 2008, Aged 78, following a painful illness which he bore with great courage.
He was born in Timmins, Ontario, 6th of January, 1930, youngest in the family of 10 children, of Olympio and Genoeffa Crucini.
He is survived by his wife Lesley, Stepson Alan, sister Eva and various nephews and nieces. He was much loved and will be sorely missed by family and many friends.
Burial at Yates Funeral Home Parksville, Friday, 22nd of February, 2008, at 11 AM. Memorial service at Kingdom Hall, 423 W. 1st Ave, Qualicum, Saturday, 23rd of February, 2008 at 3:00pm.
Refreshments afterwards.

CUTHIELL, Ethel Jean Saturday, 16 Feb 2008

November 8, 1921 - February 16, 2008
Ethel Jean Cuthiell of Calgary passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at the age of 86 years.
Ethel was born on November 8, 1921 in Great Village, NS. She began her teaching career in Nova Scotia, in a one-room school. In 1946, she married John (Jack) Cuthiell and they moved to Edmonton, where they raised their family. Ethel returned to her love of teaching, and taught elementary school for eighteen years in Edmonton. In 1971 she obtained her hard-won B.Ed.
In 1979, she and Jack retired to Qualicum Beach, BC where they enjoyed twenty happy years, making countless friends and traveling extensively. Ethel devoted a great deal of time and energy to St. Stephen's United Church. In 2000 they moved to Calgary to be closer to their children. Ethel will be remembered by her family and friends as a gentle, loving, generous, and humble person, who faced the challenges of life with remarkable strength and dignity.
Ethel is survived by her son David (Leslie Baker); her daughter Nancy Clegg; and grandchildren Jeffrey, Kyle, Ewen, and Lindsay. She is also survived by her brother Truman (Vivian) Layton of Halifax, NS; as well as several cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband Jack, son Richard and brother Paul Layton.
Ethel's children would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of the Beverly Centre for their kindness to Mom while she was there.
A Celebration of Ethel's Life was held at McInnis & Holloway's Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB) on Thursday, February 21, 2008 at 10:30 a.m.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Parkinson's Society of Southern Alberta, #203, 5636 Burbank Crescent S.E., Calgary, AB T2H 1Z6.
In living memory of Ethel Cuthiell, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes Fish Creek Chapel.

SKELTON, Terry Friday, 15 Feb 2008

May 29th, 1942 ~ February 15th, 2008
It is with great sadness that the family of Terry Skelton announce his passing on February 15, 2008 surrounded by his family and close friends. Terry had fought a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis and was awaiting a lung transplant. Left to mourn is his loving wife of 44 years Thelma, his son Todd (Patti) grandchildren Amanda (Dan) great granddaughter Ella, Shannon (Lyle) great granddaughter Jayla, daughter Tanis Feltrin (Larry) grandsons Bryce and Blake. Predeceased by his parents Floyd and Isabelle Skelton, brothers Spud and Alec Skelton, sister Irene Grantham. Survived by his brother Fred Skelton of Rosisle, MB and sister Ruby Ormiston (Jim) of Naramata, BC as well as many nieces and nephews. Terry's sense of humour always left a lasting impression on everyone he met. His love for his family was very evident especially for his grandchildren. He loved hockey particularly °his team° the Montreal Canadians.
Service to be held on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 1:00 pm at Sands Funeral Chapel, 1 Newcastle Ave Nanaimo, BC.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Terry's memory to the BC Transplant Society, West Tower, 555 12th Ave W. Flr. 3 Vancouver, BC V5Z 9Z9.
