Strong in faith, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Jentje van Mulligen (nee Omvlee) passed away November 27, 2007 at the age of 95, and is free from pain at last.
She is survived by her 8 children: Fenny (Frikko) Molag, Cobie (John) Vreeman, Jean Saathof, John (Darlene) van Mulligen, Fred (Lynn) van Mulligen, Harry (Judy) van Mulligen, Cea (John) Engbers and Jack (Gail) van Mulligen. Also lovingly remembered by 26 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, sisters Swopkje and Jacoba and sister-in-law Rie in Holland, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband Hein in 1979, and son-in-law Dan Saathof in 1996.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on December 1, 2007 at Living Hope Christian Reformed Church, 34631 Old Clayburn Road, Abbotsford, B.C. It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, neighbour, friend and honoured WWII veteran on November 26, 2007.
Fred Kruger, Squadron Leader (retired) born in Ruth, MB, on September 5, 1920. He enlisted in the RCAF in 1940. After training as a pilot he was transferred overseas where he served from 1941 to 1944 as a bomber pilot. While serving in England, he married Joan Link of London. During two tours of operations against the enemy, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross which he received from King George VI. Following the Second World War, S/L Kruger remained in the RCAF as an instructor pilot from 1948 to 1949; officer commanding in an auxiliary support unit in Training Command and Air Defense Command 1949 to 1953; RCAF liaison officer at Strategic Air Command, Omaha, Nebraska, and deputy commanding officer of 432 Fighter Squadron in Bagotville, Quebec 1957 to 1960. He worked for the NORAD Sector from 1960 to 1963, in Moses Lake, WA. He became the Chief Administrative Officer, Moose Jaw, SK 1963 to 1967, when he retired from RCAF after 27 years of dedicated service. He continued working for the Federal Government in various positions, finally retiring from the Correctional Service of Canada, in Abbotsford in 1985.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Joan; five children Gary (Gail), Marnie (Mike), Sandi (George), Curt (Brenda) and Carole (Nolan); 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, and sister, Min “Minnie” Rollins.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, December 1, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Henderson’s Funeral Home 34537 Marshall Road, Abbotsford, BC.

Thelma (nee Parlane) was promoted to Glory on November 19, 2007, followed by her husband David Douglas on November 24, 2007.
Thelma was born in Toronto on March 17, 1934 and Doug in Burnaby on August 30, 1933. Thelma and Doug were married for over 50 years. They are survived by son Douglas (Teresa) Wagner, daughter Linda (John) Hockersmith, Thelma’s brother Austin and sisters Margaret and Agnes, Doug’s sister Sharon, 13 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Clifford Harry Johnson, born July 16, 1917, passed away at Deltaview Habilitation Centre on November 23, 2007. Clifford was pre-deceased by his wife Kerrie in 2002.
He is survived by one brother Carl and two sisters; Helen and Marion. The family will have a private graveside service at a later date.

Amanda passed away peacefully in Chilliwack General Hospital on Monday, January 28, 2008.
Amanda was born on March 5, 1987 on her Oma's birthday at Abbotsford, BC. She is the only child of Henry and Lorna Janzen. She was pre-deceased by her grandmother Betty Knelsen. She is survived by her parents Henry and Lorna Janzen of Chilliwack, BC, also grandfather John Knelsen of Rochester, Alberta and grandparents Peter and Emmy Janzen of Penticton, BC and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Amanda and her parents lived in Swift Current, Saskatchewan for three years. She finished her high school years and graduated in June of 2005. She still has many friends there.
Amanda always had a smile on her face in spite of having battled cancer since age 15. The last year, Dec. 2001 - Aug. 2007 she had three surgeries and treatments, still she was always upbeat through it all. She loved cars and bikes. She and her dad attended as many shows and races and drifting events as they could in the last two years that she was back in BC. She also enjoyed snowboarding.
Interment service will be held in Hope, BC at 11:00 am on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008. A memorial service will be held at Broadway MB Church in Chilliwack, BC on Sunday, Feb 3, 2008 at 3:00 pm. Casket bearers are Chris Janzen, Justine Janzen, Daniel Knelsen, Karen Knelsen, Jordan Yliruusi, Levi Yliruusi and honorary bearers are Alex Asdale and Jessica Yliruusi, all cousins of Amanda. Donations in memory of Amanda may be made to SPCA or Salvation Army Food Bank.
I know where I am going and I know who will be meeting me there and it is exciting!

Mr. David “Dave” Patrick Scanlan, late of Abbotsford, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family on January 28, 2008 at the age of 84 at MSA Hospital.
Dave was born in 1923 in Glasgow, Scotland to Irish parents. He was raised in Scotland and spent much time vacationing in Northern Ireland. After serving in the Royal Air Force he attended Glasgow University. Dave taught high school in Glasgow until moving to Abbotsford in 1959 where he taught at Abbotsford Senior Secondary until retirement. Dave was an avid soccer fan, loved playing bridge, watching movies and was especially fond of music.
Dave is survived by his four sons: Frank (Barb), David, Stephen (Suzanne), and Paul; one daughter Patricia (Mark) and their mother Mary Scanlan. He will also be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Marshall, Sean, Jessie, Megan and Nicole.
He was pre-deceased by his four brothers, one sisters and grandson Daniel Scanlan.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 1, 2008 at 11:00 am at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, 33333 Mayfair Avenue, Abbotsford. A reception will follow at the Eagle’s Lodge, 33868 Essendene Avenue, Abbotsford.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Dr. Froese and the staff at MSA Hospital for their kindness and care.

Gordon William, late of Mission BC, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2008, at the age of 69. Predeceased by his brother, Donald Martin and son Fredrick (Ricky) John Parkinson.
Born March 23, 1938 in Wapella, Saskatchewan, Gordon is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, sisters, Bessie (Richard) Drake, Ann Winnifred Bush, and youngest sister Linda Martin.
Lovingly remembered by his children Marnie (Vince) Saparamadu, Susan (Randy) Doyle, Laurie (Len) Loran, Tracy (Tony) Sardinha, Ron (Conor) McLaughlin, Marc (Deidra) Gendron, Clinton Frye, Grant Frye, and youngest sons Gordon William Jr. and Christopher (Jaymie).
"Pappa" will be sadly missed by his 20 grandchildren and his 5 great grandchildren, as well as countless nieces and nephews.
A man of strong family values, and unwavering commitment to his friends, Gordon will be remembered fondly by all who were touched by his generosity, his humour, and his love.

Raymond passed away peacefully in MSA Hospital on Sunday, January 27, 2008 surrounded by his family and friends. He is survived by his spouse Stephanie, their son Mark (Monica), sister Carolyn (Roger), niece Lisa (Mark, Cole and Paige), nieces and nephews and family in England. Raymond and his family came to Canada in 1975 and he worked with Alcan in Kemano for 20 years, retiring to Abbotsford in 1995. Raymond was a long-time model railway enthusiast and spent many hours building his model railway and models. He was a true gentle man and will be missed terribly by anyone who knew him.
Sincere thanks are expressed to the staff of MSA Hospital and to Dr. S. S. Gill for wonderful care and devotion. Friends have been so supportive and so giving of their time and attention to the family’s needs.
A celebration of Raymond’s life will be held at the ABC Restaurant, 32080 Marshall Road, Abbotsford at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 5. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the MSA Foundation.
