Frank Kohlhauser was born January 12, 1931, and passed away suddenly in Birch Island, B.C., on January 15, 2008.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 29 years Bev, his children, step children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers and their families.
Children: Garry Kohlhauser, Linda Moss (Chris), Pearl Kohlhauser (Darrell) Katherine Groot (Neal), Raymond Goyer (Rollene), Paul Goyer, Robby Goyer, Alain Goyer (Cora). Grandchildren: Bobbie Bordeleau (Richard) Kyle Pigeon, Marcee Pigeon, Nathan Groot, Michelle Goyer, Danny Goyer and Todd Goyer. Great-grandchildren: Jared Bordeleau, Jesslyn Bordeleau, and Karolynn Pigeon. Brothers: Gerhart Kohlhauser (Caroline) Tony Kohlhauser (Shirley). Frank will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews.
Frank was born and raised in Saskatchewan. His birth certificate reads: “Sec. 31, Tp.54, Rge.24, W3rd, Sask.” Frank moved to B.C., and lived in Vancouver, Quesnel, Valemount, Birch Island, Kamloops, Cache Creek, Ashcroft and then back to Birch Island.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, Frank and Maria Kohlhauser.
Frank was an active member of the Lions Club and served 4 terms as President. He spent a good part of his life logging, sawmilling, working as a mechanic and let us not forget, wheeling and dealing. Jan 12th was Frank’s 77 birthday. He touched base with all his treasured family in his last days. Frank was a big man with a big heart, big laugh, and big love for his family, his friends, his projects and commitments.
No funeral will be held by request. Family and friends will hold a tribute in his honor on January 26, 2008.

Lawrance, Margaret (Peggy) Sunday, 13 Jul 2008

Lawrance, Margaret (Peggy), beloved wife of Dave Lawrance, passed away suddenly July 13, 2008 at the age of 64. Peggy was born at Viking hospital on July 16, 1943 in Viking, Alberta, Canada. She was the youngest of three children born to John and Betty Price.
Peggy leaves her husband Dave, children Drene (Alex) Callander, Della (Darryl) Arsenault, sister Mary (George) Ainslie and grandchildren Kimber (Felicia), Troy, Taylor, Brook, Rhees and numerous nieces, nephew, families and friends to cherish her memory.
Peggy met the love of her life, David James Lawrance, in 1959. They married at the First United Church in Salmon Arm, November 25, 1960. Soon to follow was their first daughter and 2 1/2 years later their second. Peggy and Dave lived for most of their life together in Salmon Arm and the later part they resided in Quesnel.
Peggy was a devoted wife, mother, sister, very proud grandmother and soon to be great-grandmother. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, cross-stitching, sewing, rug hooking, gardening, camping, dress making and always there whenever someone needed a hand. She supported Dave in his Chuckwagon and Chariot racing. She loved and devoted many hours perfecting each and every crochet pattern that she painstakingly picked for people special in her life. There was special meaning to each of them and it was not complete unless it was perfect.
Peggy looked forward to all her family gatherings and visits from special friends. She was looking forward to spending time in the newly acquired 5th wheel and doing some camping. Peggy had a special place in her heart for all her pets and took special care of all of them.
Peggy was pre-deceased by her parents John and Betty Price and brother William Price.
The funeral took place in Quesnel at Clayton’s Funeral home and a celebration of life was held at her home on July 21, 2008.
“Oh God, we thank you for Peggy’s love and guidance through life and give us strength to go forward during this difficult time.”
Brekkas, Einar Sunday, 13 Jul 2008

Einar Brekkas was born in Melhus, Norway on July 8, 1917.
He arrived in the Peace River area (LaGlace, Grande Prairie) in December 1929.
He moved to Prince George and Quesnel area in 1951 with his wife Greta and son Glen, where Einar was employed in the forest industry as a sawyer, mill owner, truck owner and employee of West Fraser Timber until retirement in 1982.
Einar passed away peacefully at Dunrovin Lodge on July 13, 2008.
He was laid to rest beside his wife Greta in LaGlace, Alberta.
He is survived by his daughter Darlene and son Glen.
Enns, Johan (John) Friday, 11 Jul 2008

Johan (John) Enns was born Oct 23 1926 and after a courageous battle with cancer, Dad passed away peacefully in Merritt, B.C. on Friday, July 11, 2008 at the age of 81.
Predeceased by his beloved wife Faye on July 4 of 2006, he will be sadly missed by his daughters, April Dell (John) and Andrea McRae (John). He is survived by his sister Marj (Vic), brother Peter (Sue), grandchildren Michael McRae (Samantha) Jennifer McGregor (James) Kathryn Bursey, Karyn Jackson (Ben) Anna Dell, and Diana Munro (Laird), great-grandchildren, Eli Bursey, William Bursey, Hannah McRae, Gracie McGregor, Matthew Munro, Mary Kate Munro, Nicole Munro and Daniel Munro and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will take place Saturday, July 19th at 10:30 am at Merritt United Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations to a Merritt charity of your choice in Dad’s name would be appreciated.

Dan McGarry (The Candyman) passed away on July 2, 2008 in Prince George, B.C.
Dan was pre-deceased by his parents John F. and Rosila McGarry.
He is survived by Shelley, beloved mother of David (son) and Chelsea (daughter) of Quesnel, (brothers and families) Pat (Irene) McGarry of Medicine Hat, David (Heather) McGarry of Cold Lake, (son) Jason and (daughter) Danielle of Medicine Hat.
Dan’s nut and candy customers were highly valued and much respected. Thank you.
We are honouring Dan’s request that no service be held. He would appreciate happy memories, laughter and cool stories in memory of him.

Bill Llewellyn of Quesnel, B.C. peacefully passed on July 1, 2008.
Bill was born in Innisfail, Alberta on November 15, 1941. He worked for 32 years as an engineer at G.R. Baker Hospital.
Bill is survived by and will be forever lovingly and greatly missed by his wife Laura, daughter Lorrie (Ed) Stolarski of Quesnel, sons David of Nazko and Mike of MacKenzie, sister Joyce (Norvel) Krause of Innisfail, grandchildren Dawson, Patty, Kristen, Kenny, Richard and William, sister-in-law Gwen, brother-in-law Earl and all his nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Also by his wife’s family and their children, Leona and Theo, Leah and Clark, Ed and Tina and their children Laurie, Brandon, Michael, Chantel and Marie. Bill is pre-deceased by his parents David and Peggy Llewellyn, brother David, sisters Dorothy, Peggy and Gwynnedd, brother-in-law Dewey.

God’s garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, He knew you were in pain, He knew that you would never get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough, and the hills were hard to climb. so He closed your weary eyelids, and whispered “Peace be thine.” It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn’t go alone, for part of us went with you, the day God called you home.

Jane Symes was born January 19, 1916 in Balintore, Scotland and passed away on June 29, 2008 in Salmon Arm, B.C. at the age of 92.
Jane was pre-deceased by husband Ernest Symes and 10 siblings.
She is survived by two sisters Jessie Telford and Christina Prouse, 12 children, Sarah, Roxy, Ernest (Mary), Orval (Lucy), Bill, Isabel (Wes), Marie (Rick), Hector (Bev), Gloria (Raymond), Grace (Jim), Terry (Judy), Vicki (Randy), 50 grandchildren, 85 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren.
A service was held at Bowers Funeral Home on Saturday, July 5, 2008 followed by a luncheon at the Silver Creek Seniors Hall.
Dye, George Harvey Thursday, 26 Jun 2008

George passed away June 26, 2008 at his home in Quesnel at the age of 77. He was born April 28, 1931 in Port Haney, B.C., the third of four children of George Albert and Paulina (Fuerst) Dye. The family moved to Alberta in 1932 when George’s grandfather passed away there, and farmed near Bashaw until 1945. In this year, they came back to B.C. to Vernon where George completed his schooling. He worked at a number of jobs in various locations throughout B.C. until coming to Quesnel in 1957 with B.C. Hydro. Here he met and married Shirley “Sis” Beath. Aside from a year back in Vernon, George spent the rest of his life in Quesnel.
He entered into the garage business and later owned a billiards hall, Dye’s Billiards, before his employment with School District #28. He held the position of custodial supervisor for 23 years, retiring in 1991.
Over the years, George enjoyed baseball and curling, and spent much of his spare time golfing at the Quesnel club. He took great pleasure in teaching his older grandson to golf. Following his retirement, he could always be found enjoying the social atmosphere at Time Horton’s. He loved being with people and could strike up a conversation with complete strangers.
Family vacations involved camping and visiting relatives, with a few trips to Hawaii and Disneyland. He and Sis later went several times a year to Nevada.
George leaves his wife of 50 years, Sis; daughters Leanne (Bruce) Broughton and Tana (Mark) Yoon; grandchildren Ryan and Derek Broughton and Macy Yoon; one sister, Vivian Kowal of Vernon; and numerous nieces and nephews who meant a great deal to him; he was pre-deceased by his parents, two older brothers, Vernon and Leonard, and his nephew, Wayne.
