STAFFORD, Cassie Victoria (née Coleman), of St. Thomas, formerly of Shedden, Ontario.

STAFFORD, Cassie Victoria (née Coleman), of St. Thomas, formerly of Shedden, entered into her eternal rest at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Sunday, April 8, 2018, in her 94th year. Beloved wife of the late Eric Futcher Stafford (1980). Loved mother of Louise (Bruno) of Midland, Lyal (Jeanette) of Kitchener, and Catherine of Vancouver. She was proud of her five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Velma Bell of Massachusetts and sister-in-law of Maureen Coleman of Pickering. Also lovingly remembered by a number of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by infant daughter, Nancy Marie (1953); parents, John and Olive Coleman (née Diemel); and siblings, Viola, Marie, Orville, and Lloyd. Born at Stratford, ON, Cassie moved with her family to Barrie and Pickering. A graduate of London College of Bible and Missions, now Tyndale University College and Seminary, Toronto, she worked as secretary-treasurer of the Canadian branch of the former Ceylon and India General Mission, Toronto. Following her marriage, she and her husband raised their family at the Stafford homestead at Shedden. At the former Shedden Baptist Church, Cassie taught Sunday School and conducted children’s programs. With the support of several rural churches, she organized and led large vacation bible schools. She also taught religious education in local rural public schools. Later, she worked at the U.W.O Library and the St. Thomas YWCA. Upon early retirement, she pursued her interest in travel, gardening, calligraphy, writing poetry, and was involved in the Christian Women’s Club, the St. Thomas Right to Life Association, and the former Women’s Art Association. The funeral service will be held at Eastwood Fellowship Baptist Church, 400 Wellington St., St. Thomas on Friday, April 13th at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the church. Private interment will be made in Shedden Cemetery. Memorial donations to The Gideons or St. Thomas & District Right to Life will be gratefully acknowledged. The family expresses special thanks to the nursing staff of the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Continuing Care Unit C for their patient, understanding, compassionate and respectful care. Arrangements entrusted to the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160).

Engen, James Trevor (Jamie) of North Vancouver, B.C. Formerly of Woodinville, Washington

James (Jamie) Trevor Engen passed away on a mountain top, hiking with his wife, Jeri Sue, amongst the gorillas of Rwanda on February 8th, 2018, at age 55.
Born in New Westminster, B.C. and raised in Maple Ridge, B.C., he led a life filled with love, adventure and travel.
He met his wife of 29 years while visiting Atlanta, Georgia. They were married and settled in Vancouver while he was finishing his Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of British Columbia.
To pay his way through school he worked as a foreman at the newly built B.C. Place, installing the complex on-site sound system. He then worked as the sound engineer for B.C. Place for many years.
Jamie became a member of the Canadian Institute of CPA’s and was a Senior Vice President with Price Waterhouse.
Later he held senior management positions with public and privately owned companies in Canada and internationally. These included President and CEO of a high tech electronics manufacturing company; COO and Managing Director of a speaker manufacturing company with three divisions; CFO, Executive Producer and owner of a television production company and CFO of a high tech startup company.
He finished his career as a Managing Director at FTI Consulting as part of the Corporate Finance and Restructuring team. He consulted on a diverse portfolio of multi-million dollar international companies in a wide range of industries, including: Chinese forestry, oil and gas, construction, retail, food processing and hospitality.
He was proud of his work and the opportunity it gave him to travel the world and meet a variety of people he called his friends, but his greatest joy was his family. He treasured and would regale friends endlessly about his wife’s and children’s exploits. His passion for life was boundless. He loved good food, good laughs, good wine, and scotch.
He leaves behind his wife Jeri Sue, adored children Emma Jane, Trevor, and Rebecca, parents Jim Engen and Claudia Beaven, sister Leanne Engen and brother in law Kelly Whalley, step mother Diane Engen, half sisters Lauren and Annise Toliekis, grandmothers, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, may you toast Jamie with a drink of fine scotch. A Celebration of Life event will be held on April 12th at 1:30pm at the Terminal City Club.

Leggo, Mildred of Edmonton Formerly of Penticton

Mrs. Mildred Anne “Millie” Leggo (nee Edmonds) passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on October 4, 2017 in Edmonton, Alberta at the age of 95.
Millie is survived by her son, Douglas Leggo (Brenda), Edmonton; grandchildren, Christy, Shanon, Shane, Thomas, Jesse & Michelle Leggo; great-grandchildren, Keiran, Cowen, Noah, Adelaide & Bastian; and sister, Doris McKinley, Nanaimo. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Sydney Leggo; son, Robert Charles Leggo; and brother, Frank Jefferies.
Millie was born on March 30, 1922 in Edmonton, Alberta to Thomas & Nora Edmonds. She married Donald Leggo in 1948. The couple welcomed their first child in 1950 and their second child in 1953. Her son remembers her as an extremely patient mother, both with her children and her husband, and she encouraged her sons to pursue their goals.
Millie loved travelling and she was passionate about her family and always remained very close to her sister and brother. She was an active and dedicated member of the community and could often be found playing crib with her friends.
A funeral is scheduled for April 6, 2018 1:30pm at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Lloyd Brown will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Millie’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Miller Crossing Care Centre, 14251 50 St NW, Edmonton AB T5A 5J4. The family would like to thank all the caring staff at Miller Crossing Care Centre for their kindness.

BECKER, Glen George Guy of Langley, B.C. Formerly of Kelowna, BC
December 16, 1962 to March 19, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Glen Becker announce his passing after a brave battle with cancer at the age of 55 years on March 19th, 2018. Glen will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Le Du Mach, and her children Victor and Vivian, as well as his mother, Julie Tipton, his father, Roy Becker, and siblings Christine (Paul) Berteig, Shawn Becker, Genie (Tim) DePlonty, and Kristi Meddins. Glen will also be fondly remembered by his nephews and nieces Joelle (Andrew), Shawn, Jesse-Lyn, Aubrielle (Jonathan), Jayden, Terin, and Kurtis, great nieces and nephews Raine, Forest, Layla, and Hawksley, as well as his extended family and friends.
A celebration of Glen’s life will be held Monday, April 9th at 4:30 pm at Newland’s Bar & Grill, 21025 48th Ave. Langley, B.C. located at the Newland’s Golf and Country Club. Interment will follow at a later date with a private family ceremony at Ocean View Funeral Home and Burial Park in Vancouver, B.C.

Skoronski, Mike of Penticton

Mike Skoronski - The family of Mike Skoronski wish to announce his passing January 5, 2018 at the age of 99 years old. Mike passed in Penticton, B.C. while surrounded by his wife Ivy, son Bob and daughter in law Lynda.
Mike is survived by his wife Ivy of 47 years, three sons Gerald (Ruth) Allan, Bob (Lynda) 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and was predeceased by his first wife Ann.
Mike was born in Hazel Dell, Saskatchewan, June 25, 1918. He moved to the Flin Flon – Creighton area in the late forties to open a business with his brother Andy, then to Wanless, MB in the early 60’s to open and operate his family business with his sons. Mike and Ivy retired to Saskatoon in 1985. In 1998, they moved to Penticton B.C. to enjoy their retirement. Mike had a long and eventful life. He was fortunate to have been able to enjoy time with his children grand and great-grandchildren.
The family of Mike would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Moog and Friends hospice in Penticton, B.C. The compassion you showed not only Mike but the family during such a difficult time was a greatly appreciated.

RICHARDSON, Joyce of Orillia formerly of Barrie, Virgil and England with holidays in Florida

On March 21, 2018 Joyce Richardson (nee Parkinson) (wife of Jack, deceased) friend of John Barker, passed away at the Trillium Manor in Orillia, Ontario
in her 86th year. Mother of Janette and Alan; Grandmother of Robert Freeman (Siobhan), Michael Freeman (Patti), Ian, Sara, Jamie (Ashley); Great-grandmother of Chrystal-Lynne, Cassandra, Reilly, Connor, Aiden, Shyla, Jolene, and step-grandson Nate. Former volunteer at the Whitney Laboratory in Florida and the McLaren Art Gallery in Barrie and longtime employee of Woolworths. Born in England and lived around world including Canada, the USA, and Australia. Visited many countries around the world on holidays ending in a 50th anniversary trip to Thailand and India with Jack. An avid book reader and conversationalist. We miss you dearly mum/Nana.

STEWART, Eileene (née Butterwick), of St. Thomas, Ontario.

STEWART, Eileene (née Butterwick), of St. Thomas, passed away at Caressant Care on Bonnie Place on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, in her 90th year. She was the beloved wife of the late William G. “Bill” Stewart (1997). Eileene is survived by her sons, Stanley of Vancouver, B.C., and Stephen of Cambridge, ON, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her own immediate family, having been predeceased by a sister, Ruby Roberts, and three brothers, Mac, Gilbert, and Archie Butterwick. Born in (South) Yarmouth Twp., ON, November 27, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Carloss and Pearl (née Smith) Butterwick. Eileene lived her life in Sparta and area, and St. Thomas. She was a former member of Grace United Church, St. Thomas. A former avid field naturalist, Eileene was a charter member (1950) and a past secretary of the St. Thomas Field Naturalists Club. A member of the McIlwraith Field Naturalists of London, Eileene, along with her husband Bill, received its highest recognition, the W.E. Saunders Award in 1996. She was a charter member of the Elgin Hiking Trail, a member of the Hall of Fame of the Kettle Creek Conservation Authority, and a former member of the Bruce Trail Association of Ontario, the Federation of Ontario Naturalists, and the Field Biologists of Ontario. Eileene was also a member of the Aylmer & District Museum, a supporting member of the Southern Ontario Locomotive Restoration Society, a former member of the Norfolk Historical Society, Simcoe, and served on the Board of Directors of the former Thomas Williams Home, St. Thomas. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral service. Private interment will be made in Union Cemetery. Memorial donations to the charity of one’s choice will be gratefully acknowledged. Arrangements entrusted to the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160).
