At Afton Park Place in Sarnia on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, Giuliano Mussio, age 69 of Sarnia passed away. He was the husband of Angelina (Sartor) Mussio and dear father of Mark, Eric (Angela) and Karen (James) and grandfather of Madeline, Timothy, Sophia and Joshua. He is the brother Gabriella Mariuz. He was an owner/operator of Minato & Mussio Terrazzo & Tile. Born on October 30th, 1948 in Orenico Superiore, Italy and came to Canada at the age of 19 and became a citizen in 1976. He loved his garden, animals and a glass red wine. A memorial service will be held at the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (102 N. Victoria St., N7T 5W9, Sarnia) on Thursday, May 31st at 11:00 am. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service. August 25, 1946 – May 15, 2018
Suddenly and unexpectedly, on Tuesday, May 15th 2018 in his 72nd year, of Hensall, Ontario. Loving Father of Tim of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Peter of London, Bryan of Kelowna, British Columbia, and Sarah and Christian Joore of Peterborough. Doting grandfather of Lara McAllister, Isabella and Sophie Joore. Long-time partner and travelling companion of Sue Riley of Hensall. Dear brother of Dale McAllister of Grand Bend. Neil will be missed by his step-mother Evaline Whiting-McAllister of Zurich, and former spouse Susan Doerr-McAllister of Exeter. Predeceased by his parents John W. McAllister (2014) and Alma G. Skinner (1976). Neil retired after a long career with W.G. Thompson’s & Sons Ltd, and recently took on part time work with SGS research. He loved the agricultural community he was raised in and was respected by his colleagues in the field. He was a devoted and hard working community member and volunteer who was friends with many and liked by all. He was given a Lifetime Membership to the Hensall & District Kinsmen Club in May 2014. He was an animal lover and serious book worm, who would read voraciously and always have several books on the go. His retirement years allowed him to become a passionate world traveller which he was doing at the time of his passing. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Neil’s life will be held at the Hensall Community Centre, 157 Oxford Street West, Hensall on Saturday, May 26th from 1-4 PM. ROSS, Velma “Val” (née Newman), of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, in her 94th year. Beloved wife of the late D. A. “Arn” Ross (Feb. 19, 1991). Dearly loved mother of Dan Ross (Martha) of Port Stanley, Roy Ross of St. Thomas, and the late John Ross (Jan. 24, 2018). Cherished grandmother of Gillian Ross (Ed Hatfield) of Toronto, Erin Ross (Mark Freeman) of London, Kelly Wilson (David) of Guelph, Katarina “Katie” England Ross (Joseph Meuwissen) of London, and Vanessa England Ross (Justin Cassels Lionson) of Oakville. She greatly enjoyed and was very proud of her great-grandchildren, Ben, Jane, Will, and Robin. Val is also fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews. She was the last of her siblings, having been predeceased by her brother, William L. Newman, and by sisters, Annabelle Newman and Marion Tribe. Born in Payne's Mills, ON, May 24, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Annie Belle (née Parker) Newman. For over 40 years, Arn and Val were partners in D. A. Ross Painting & Decorating, St. Thomas. Val was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, St. Thomas, and a member for many years of the former Alma Street Presbyterian Church. She was a long-time member and a Past President of the Ladies Division of both the St. Thomas Curling Club and the St. Thomas Golf & Country Club. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends will be received by the family at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Tuesday, April 24th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A private service for the immediate family will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 25th. Jerry Hourie a beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away suddenly on March 29, 2018 at 59.
Jerry was predeceased by his granddaughter Mercer Hourie.
He will be missed and remembered by his son Saun(Alena); son Mitchell; son Blaise; ex spouse Shannon. Grandchildren Stella, Huxley, Noah and Berkley.
Jerry will also be missed by his brothers Trevor and Russell Teed, sister Florence and extended family and friends.

MATTHEWS, Margaret (Peggy) Mary of Victoria
MATTHEWS, Margaret Mary (Peggy), aged 90 of Victoria, B.C., Canada passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2018. Peggy was surrounded by her loving family, in the peace and comfort of her home, where she lived with her daughter Margaret and son-in-law Seamus for many years.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at 1:00 pm, Ross Bay Cemetery, 1495 Fairfield Road (use Memorial Street for parking). Tea and Refreshments to follow at the home of Peggy’s son Pat and daughter-in-law Susan, at 1633 Pinewood Avenue in Fairfield.
Peggy was born on September 9, 1927 to Robert and Christina Carolan, Gormanston Village, County Meath, Éire. She married Patrick Joseph Matthews (of Navan, Co. Meath) on October 12, 1948. They lived in Navan until June 1957 when they emigrated to Victoria, B.C., Canada with their 5 young children.
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Peggy was also an avid and skilled golfer; winning many trophy’s and prizes over the years including Victoria City Ladies Champion (1970) and Gold Medalist in the 1978 B.C. Summer Games. She was always athletic and did well at any sport she put her hand to. She was an exceptional gardener; verdant, lush green lawns and hedges, flowers prolific and vegetables plentiful. Peggy loved all animals but most especially her little dogs. She always had at least one or two, and she spoiled them all rotten. She also had an impressive ‘charm’ of hummingbirds that she cared for every day. Some winter days she would have as many as 60 of the wee things clustered about her while she hung the feeders – and hang them every day she did.
Peggy is preceded in death by her husband Patrick J. Matthews (Aug 1986), her parents Robert and Christina Carolan, her brothers John and Robert, her sisters May, Christina, and Ester. She is survived by her five children and their spouses Robert (Darlene), Antoinette (Ted), Patrick (Susan), Brendan (Nancy) and Margaret (Seamus), her sister Anne Cassidy in Ireland, her grandchildren Patrick, Jannine, Simon, Katherine (Marcus), Kevin, Christine (Garth), Daniel (Lindsey), Caitlin, Andrew (Justine), Caroline, and Liam. Great-grandchildren Claire, Margaret, Vivian, Aislinn, Clayton, Elena, and Quinn.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Peggy’s honour to the SPCA or World Wildlife Fund.

LAWRENCE, William C. “Bill”, of St. Thomas, passed away at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, in his 84th year. Beloved husband for over 60 years to Lorraine (née Lacroix) Lawrence. Dearly loved father of Chris Lawrence (Sharon), and John Lawrence, and cherished grandfather of Will Lawrence (Tami Ansems), and Catherine Lawrence (Jeff Laidlaw), all of St. Thomas. He was the proud great-grandfather of Cora and Alexis Lawrence. Dear brother of Claribel “Sue” Rowe of St. Thomas, Myrtle Zylstra of Delta, B.C., Gus C. Lawrence of Cambridge, late Jean Parkins, late Shirley Bradley, and the late Helen Mathewson. Also fondly remembered by many in-laws, nieces and nephews. Born in St. Thomas, January 20, 1935, he was the son of the late William H. and Pearl (née Dennis) Lawrence. Bill was a retired CNR trainman. He was the last surviving founding member (1966), a Past President, and a life member of the Centennial Sports Club, St. Thomas. Bill was a charter member of the Elgin County Railway Museum. In his younger years, he was active in baseball and fastball. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no public visitation or funeral service. Private interment of Bill’s cremated remains will be made in Union Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Centennial Sports Club (to be used to support local sports), the Elgin County Railway Museum, or the charity of one’s choice will be gratefully acknowledged.
