Joan Jessome
July 4, 1925 - March 30, 2009

With great sadness we announce the passing of our Mum and Nana, Joan Irene Jessome (nee Vandendriessche) on Monday, March 30, 2009.
Joan was predeceased by her husband, Captain Stephen Turner Jessome (1916 - 1991) and special friend, Tom Jensen.
She will be forever cherished by her children, Stephen (Colleen) of Prince George, Michele (Wayne) Wilcox of Calgary, John of Calgary, Toni (Mark) Barrett of Kamloops, grandchildren, Holly, Shawn, Anastasia, Averi, Brandie, Justin and Amy. Daughter-in-law Kathy Jessome, sisters Jean (Keith) Gagne, Tracey (Bal) Sary and brother Emile Vandean and their families.
Joan was born in Weyburn, Sask., July 4, 1925.
Her family moved to Kamloops in 1940.
Joan graduated from Victoria's St. Joseph School of Nursing in 1946, and she returned to Kamloops, to work at Royal Inland Hospital and the Tranquille Sanatorium.
She married Stephen Turner Jessome, June 30, 1951, in Kamloops, and resided in several army bases across Canada, from Kamloops, to Truro, Nova Scotia.
In 1967, they moved to Nelson, B.C. and then to the picturesque Slocan Valley.
Joan returned to Kamloops, in 1991, to be closer to her family.
She was a wonderful mother and nana, a caring nurse, bee keeper, avid gardener and phenomenal quilter.
A memorial mass will take place at Sacred Heart Cathedral at 11:00 am,, Friday, April 3, 2009.

The family would like to thank the staff at Berwick on the Park and Kelly Voss for their exceptional care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of B.C. and Yukon, 201-635 Victoria Street, Kamloops, V2C 2B3.

Ross, David
February 10, 1945 - March 29, 2009

David Ross, born February 10, 1945 in Nottingham, England.
Husband, father, grandfather, artistic producer of Western Canada Theatre and actor, David took his final bow, Sunday, March 29, 2009, at 10:40 p.m. - standard curtain time.
He leaves behind his wife, Janet Michael; son, Tyl van Toorn (Sarah Einarson); daughter, Bodra Elia; daughter, Amelia Ross (Lonnie Shaw); and grandchildren, Tye, Madyx and Ana.
Also his mother. Dorothy Ross; brother, Gordon Ross (Janis Jones); and sister, Janet Ketchen (Richard Ketchen).
Left behind, also,2e are a vast accumulation of friends, colleagues, fans, and associates.
Janet would like to thank the dedicated staff of Marjorie Willoughby Hospice Home for their skill, courage and good humour.
The family encourages people to donate generously to the Kamloops Hospice Association and the Food Bank.
Flowers gratefully accepted for Easter Sunday Memorial.
A memorial service will be held at the Sagebrush Theatre at 3 pm, April 12, 2009.

DORA MONTAGUE WORSFOLD
March 15, 1916 - March 27, 2009

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Mom on Friday, March 27, 2009, in Kamloops, B.C..
Mom was born March 15, 1916, in Edmonton, AB, and lived a full life until 12 days after her 93rd birthday.
She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, George (Shorty) in 1993, son, Norman in 2003, parents, Mary and John (Jack) Martin, brothers and sisters, William (Bill), Harry (Archie), Kathleen (Kay) Ramer, Mary Ann (Lil) Silvester, and George.
Also predeceasing her, were daughters-in-law, Donna and Florence (Flo) and son-in-law, David Haugan.
She leaves behind the families of her other 12 children, Doreen (Bob) Morgan, David (Rose), Bernard (Joyce), Walter (Joanne) all of Kamloops, Leonard (Gail), Margaret (Wayne) Yarwood of Vancouver, Gordon and Ronald of Edmonton, AB, Albert of Mirror, AB, Bob (Sue) of Jasper, AB, Lucille (Manuel) Ferreira, Mary Haugan of Prince Rupert, B.C. and daughter-in-law, Padi of Calgary, AB, along with the many Worsfold and Martin families living far and wide, including the family of the late Jesse and Ada Worsfold of Kamloops.
Mom diligently kept count of each of her 24 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, as each one came into the world.
Mom married Dad in Edmonton, on May 30, 1935.
They moved to Jasper, in 1945, with their first five children.
Eight more children were born to them in the following years.
The youngest son, Bob, was the only one who stayed in Jasper, and continues to live there.
Mom and Dad left Jasper, after Dad retired from his 50 years with the railway and they decided to move to Edmonton.
They celebrated their 50th Anniversary in Kamloops, in 1985, that was attended by all of their children - a very special time.
Over the years, the family held many family reunions, always thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
Mom and Dad travelled frequently to spend some special time with many of their growing families.
During that time, Mom spent much of her time visiting her widowed mother, who was living in a senior's residence.
Mom started writing her mother's correspondence to her families in England, and continued to do so after her mother died in 1992.
Mom also became involved in family history and has enjoyed spending her time doing her research.
In 2002, Mom moved to Kamloops, to be closer to her families in B.C.
She was content to keep her independence, maintain her interest in politics and remain as strong willed as ever.
We will miss her dearly.
A Celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, April 4, in the banquet room of the Eagles Hall, 755 Tranquille Rd.

MATHEW FRANKLIN GRYBOS
1983 - 2009

Mathew Franklin Grybos, aged 26, passed away in a tragic work accident on March 26, 2009.
He leaves behind his common-law wife, Danielle, parents, Frank and Nella, and brother, Joey.
He will also be missed by his many aunts, uncles and cousins, along with many friends that Mathew held close to his heart.
Mathew grew up in Kamloops, and spent the last three years working on the oil rigs in Alberta.
He loved the outdoors and fishing.
Mathew will be dearly missed by all his family.
Viewing will take place from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2009, in the Rosewood Room at Kamloops Funeral Home.
The Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2009, in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel, with Bruce Stratton officiating.

TOMMASINI, Antonio "Tony
1916-2009

On Wednesday, March 25, 2009 Antonio "Tony" Tommasini passed away peacefully, with his family by his side at his home in Pine Grove Lodge, Kamloops.
Tony is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Regina; his children, Bruno (Noreen) of Maple Ridge, Lena (George) of Nanaimo, John (Linda) of Surrey, Elda (John), Vito (Karen) and Dave (Cindie) all of Kamloops.
He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Gina, Erin, Sheldon, Luke, Murray, Nick, Steve, Alex, Anthony, Mark, Brian, Eric, Brandon and Robert and by his great-grandchildren, Jack and Isla.
He also leaves behind the wonderful residents and staff of Pine Grove Lodge, where he has resided for the past six years.
Tony was predeceased by two of his sons in 1954, Vito and Aldo.
He was the last surviving sibling of a large Tommasini family.
Born in Treviso Italy, Tony was one of 18 children.
He was a veteran of the Italian Army.
In 1949, he immigrated to Canada, to find work and he ended up in Kamloops, where he got a job with CP Rail.
His wife joined him two years later with four small children.
He worked with CP Rail for 35 years, retiring in 1979.
His retirement years were spent gardening and looking after his grandchildren, whom he cherished.
The family would like to thank the staff at Pine Grove Lodge for all they have done for our father over the past six years.
Prayers will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2009 in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 635 Tranquille Road.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am on Monday, March 30, 2009 in Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, with Reverend Father Peter Nguyen, Celebrant.
Following the service, Tony will be laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery.
Donations in Tony's name may be made to the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation, 311 Columbia St., Kamloops, B.C. V2C 2T1.

Smith, Margaret Jessie Florence
November 25, 1930 - March 25, 2009

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother & nana, Margaret Jessie Florence Smith.
Margaret was born in Dartford, Kent, England, November 25, 1930.
Predeceased by her husband, Edward (Smitty).
She leaves behind her daughter, Susan (Bill) Davidson of Kamloops, son, John (Alison) Smith of Prince George; her grandchildren, Steven (LaDonne), Errin (Jo), Sarah (Brian), Devlin (Lacey) and Courtnay, as well as her great-grandchildren, Matthew, Brianna and Destin.
She immigrated to Canada, in 1953, to marry her fiancé, who had immigrated the year before.
They lived in Vancouver, then Kemano, Kitimat, and Prince George.
In 1988, after the death of her husband, she came to live in Kamloops, to be closer to her daughter.
Mum was caring and kind.
Her sense of humor helped to deal with the trials of her 51-years struggle with multiple sclerosis.
Thank you to all the Caregivers at Kamloops Seniors Village who looked after Mum.
A special Thank you to Roxanne, Raman and Julie, for all the wonderful care and friendship.
Thank you to the staff of Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice House and Dr. Robert Thomasse.
There will be no formal service by request.
If friend desire, please donate to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, or to the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice House.

McKee, Peter "Gary"

In loving memory of a beloved son and brother, Peter "Gary" McKee of Kamloops, B.C., who passed away suddenly on March 25, 2009.
He is survived by his mother, Jeanie, brother, Greg (Debra) and nieces, Katie and Jen.
Also, many aunts, uncles, and cousins all over the world.
As per Gary and his family's wishes, no service will be held.
Instead, there will be a private tea for the family.
Also, Gary's good friends at "On the Rocks" pub, will be hosting a celebration of Gary's life on Sunday, April 5th, at 1:00pm, and invite all his friends to come and share in his memory.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of choice.
