It is with terrible sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father, Donald Arseneau, on February 15th. Dad left this world peacefully, surrounded by his girls. Don was born in St. Stephen’s New Brunswick on July 20th, 1942 to Abel and Lena Arseneau. Growing up, Dad enjoyed dancing, hockey and playing baseball and was very much loved by his four sisters. The Air Force brought him to Comox, British Columbia, in 1966 where he would soon begin a family and settle down. Following employment, he moved his family to Port Alberni in 1978 and this is where he would live for the remainder of his days. An avid outdoorsman, Don loved ski patrolling up Mt. Arrowsmith, fishing, swimming, travelling and golf. He was also a fine guitar player and singer! Above all, Dad was a gentle and kind father to his three beloved daughters. Don was predeceased by his mother Lena and his father Abel as well as his friend and brother in law, Howard Leonard. He is survived by his three daughters: Michele (Darren) Katila, Kimberly (Ryan) Arseneau and Leann (Christian) Brown; his four sisters: Linda (Guy) Levesque, Loretta (Emile) Caissie, Annette (Howie) Leonard and Jeanette (David) Driscoll; his former wife and friend, Barbara Arseneau; his grandchildren: Dylan, Cassidy, Colton, Sebastian and Emerson and many nieces and nephews who loved Uncle Don very much. A special thanks to Tracy and the staff at The Lodge on 4th as well as Dr. Steyn and Dr. Love and the 4th floor nurses at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital for your tender and compassionate care.
