William Thomas Batchelor
January 2, 1931 – July 5, 2008
Bill went peacefully to be with his Heavenly Father on July 5, 2008 at Royal Inland Hospital.
Bill was predeceased by his grandson, Tyler Johnson. Bill is survived by his wife Joan and four children, Bill (Laurie) Batchelor, Linda (Dennis) Blake, Fred Batchelor, and Michael (Heather) Batchelor. Also left to mourn are Bill’s sister Jenny (Frank) Hewitt, brother Les (Esme) Batchelor, and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves his grandchildren Lana (Greg), Sheri (Mike), Brenda (Emery), William (Amy), Daniel, Amanda, Zack, Zane, Tanya (Rob), Chelsey (Kellen), Jenny (Rob), and great grandchildren Brayden, Dyllan, Austin, Rachel, Nolan, Emily and Ryan.
Bill was born in Victoria BC to William and Muriel Batchelor. They moved to Shawnigan Lake in 1937. When Bill was 15 his father passed away and he became the family provider for his mother and siblings, Jenny and Les. In April 1953, Bill met Joan Winnifred Webb and they were married on July 31, 1954 at Shawnigan Lake.
Bill served in the Reserve Army in the late 1940s and in the Shawnigan Lake Fire Department. His work career involved various jobs including the railroad, logging, mechanics, plumbing, heating, and electrical. He retired from J. Walsh & Sons in 1996. His interest included serving his church, supporting Sunnybrae Bible Camp, helping those in need and his love of horses.
Bill will be remembered for his faithfulness to those he loved and his service to others.
Special thanks to the staff at Ponderosa Lodge (2nd Floor) who cared for Bill during his short stay from February to July.
The Celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, July 11, 2008 in the First Baptist Church, 454 Columbia St., with Pastor Warren Trenholm and Pastor Bruce Christiansen officiating.
Donations in Bill’s memory may be made to the Sunnybrae Bible Camp, 3915 Sunnybrae-Canoe Point Road, Tappen BC V0E 2X0. Flowers gratefully declined.

Ethan Ralko Byers
July 4, 2008 – July 5, 2008
Ethan Ralko Byers, born July 4, 2008 to Cara Byers of Kamloops, BC and to Mark Ralko, formerly from Powell River BC, passed away on July 5, 2008 at Royal Inland Hospital. Ethan, in his short life, touched many hearts and will be sadly missed by his loving parents, sister Jilesa, grandparents, great grandparents, many aunts, uncles and cousins.

You will be missed by many, that we know is true, for unknown reasons your life’s moments were few.

A Graveside Service will be held on July 15th at 1:00 pm at Hillside Cemetery in Kamloops BC. The reception to follow at Hills of Peace Lutheran Church, 695 Robson Drive after the graveside service. Lewis “Mike” Mickels
January 15, 1932 - July 5, 2008
Lewis Mike Mickels of Kamloops passed away July 5, 2008 at 76 years of age. He is survived by his common-law wife Arleen, many long time friends, and his little dog Sandy.
Mike was born in Peterboro on January 15, 1932. He was a long time resident of North Kamloops and for many years was a well-known taxi driver. Mike was an enthusiastic of McArthur Park Lawn Bowling Club and enjoyed all the activities of this group. He also loved to play golf, crib and enjoying gardening.
Memorial Donations may be made in memory of Mike to the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice 72 Whiteshield Crescent S., Kamloops, BC V2E 2S9.
An informal Coffee Time for friends and family to celebrate Mike’s life will be held on Thursday July 10, 2008 at 10:30 am in the Kamloops Alliance Church, 233 Fortune Drive.

Margaret Isabel Shannon of Kamloops, BC passed away on October 25, 2011.
She was born on September 27, 1923 in Plunket Saskatchewan.
Margaret is survived by her son Glenn (Marg) Shannon, Gary (Trudy) Shannon, daughter Linda Reading, four grandchildren Clifford, Heather, Kerrie and Kory as well as two great grandchildren Jacob and Hailey .
She was predeceased by her husband Harold Aurther Shannon, two brothers, a sister and a son-in-law Terrence Peter Reading.
A Funeral Service will take place on November 2, 2011 at 11:00 a.m at the First Baptist Church, 454 Columbia Street, with Pastor Al Hern officiating accompanied by Pastor Warren Trenholm

James Lovat Fraser of Kamloops passed away on July 10, 2008 at 85 years of age. Survived by his loving wife Gloria Marie, children Kathleen (Keith) Westerlund of Surrey BC, James of Maple Ridge BC, Lorna (Rick) Stevens of Kamloops, grandchildren, Sharla, Leslie Stevens, Tanya, Trevor Westerlund. His sister Margaret (Stan) Engstrom, and numerous nieces and nephews.
James is predeceased by his father Alexander mother Kathleen Fraser/Taylor, sisters Dorothy (five years old) Myrtle (Len) Morgan, Kathleen (Bill) Sevcik, and his infant son Donald James Fraser.
James was born in Vancouver October 12, 1922 served in WWII from 1939 to 1942 after that he met and married his childhood sweetheart on October 31,1947.He had numerous jobs through the lower mainland and settled for 27 years with the Burnaby Municipality
The pride and joy in James life where his four grandchildren and loved gardening and his music.

Pauline Longbotham
January 18, 1918 - July 9, 2008
Jacoba Pauline Longbotham of Kamloops passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 90 years of age.
Pauline is survived by her daughter Anita (Joe) Graf and her children Robert (Kim) Kryger, Raymond Kryger, Karen (Steve) Palmer and son Jim Longbotham and his children Cole (Dell) Longbotham, Jim D. Lynch, David McLean, and Kyle (Rae Ann) Longbotham; sisters in-law Evelyn Keeler and Theresa Keeler; three great grandchildren Randelle Palmer, Hope and Savannah Longbotham; numerous nieces and nephews, 1st and 2nd generation Keelers and Longbothams.
She was predeceased by her husband Dave in 1972, her mother and father, and five brothers and seven sisters.
Pauline was born in Baintree Alberta, moved to Strathmore in 1946, Cochrane in 1949 and finally to Kamloops in 1975. She was an honourary life member of the Cochrane Alberta Legion and an active working member of the Cochrane Lions Club

Gaye Louise Simon
April 7, 1957 - July 20, 2008
Gaye was born in Edmonton, AB. At the age of 6, she moved to Pointe Claire, QC, where she lived and attended school until 1976. She then moved to Calgary and later Edmonton, where her father, George Simon, passed away in 1980. While in Edmonton, she was presented with a number of service awards, including one for 10,000 hours of volunteer service. In 1999, she moved to Kamloops with her mother. Gaye avidly collected pop can tabs to support the RIH wheelchair program, and counted every one. She enjoyed her most recent job with Recycle Works, and the connections that she made there. She was a friendly, outgoing person, ever ready with a comeback. Gaye is survived by her mother, Helen, her sister, Paulette Davies, her brother, Gerry (Dianne) Simon of Surrey, BC, her niece, Suzanne Filion of Thunder Bay, ON, her nephews, Scott (Jennifer) and Tim (Christy) Davies, and Tyler and Kyle Simon, and great nieces, Jessica Hannaford-Filion and Drew Davies. She will be missed by all of us, and will forever remain in our hearts.
Donations can be made to the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation in memory of Gaye. A Celebration of her life will be held at the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel, 285 Fortune Drive, at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 26, 2008.
