Jacqueline Margaret Pauline Thorpe
October 13, 1947 - December 9, 2008
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jacqueline Thorpe on December 9th, 2008 at the age of 61-years.
She is survived by her loving husband Edward William Hurd, children John (Jabe) Thorpe, Craig Thorpe, all of Kamloops, B.C., Stacey Hurd of Prince George, B.C., Kimberly Hurd of Kelowna, B.C., Kaytee Hurd of Edmonton, and grandchildren, Chase and Erin Hurd and Ruby Thorpe, also the Grad Class of 1965 Notre Dame, and the Gold Wing Road Riders Motorcycle Club.
She was predeceased by her father Jack Burnett Thompson, mother Pauline Thompson and husband John William Fredrick Thorpe.
Jacqueline Margaret Pauline Thorpe passed away peacefully at Kamloops Hospice House after a 2-year battle with cancer. She is free to fly like a butterfly towards her next journey. We, the family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses who helped Jackie along in her final journey. Special thanks to Dr. S. Gorman and Linda. Also a very special thanks to the amazing staff at the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice House for their outstanding care and compassion through her last days.
There will be a viewing at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 13th, 2008 in the Rosewood Room at Kamloops Funeral Home, 285 Fortune Drive.
The Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 14th, 2008 in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel.
Memorial Donations in Jacqueline’s memory may be made to the local S.P.C.A., local food banks, the New Life Mission, or Kamloops Hospice, in lieu of flowers.

Charles Sidney Pigeon
November 12, 1917 – December 12, 2008
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Sidney Pigeon on December 12, 2008. Sid will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Winnifred, his extended family; Sandy (Maureen) Blackwell, Neil (Gail) Blackwell, Susan (Don) Wallace, Margaret (Ed) Milne, and his son Barry; his grandchildren, Jacqueline, Nicholas, Michael, Cassandra, Ken, Tiffany, Amanda, Eddie, Diana and Niki, Devin (predeceased), Charles, Trina, Steven, as well as numerous great-grandchildren and his best friend Sammy, who will miss those scooter rides down by the river.
Sid was born in Dog Creek, B.C. on November 12, 1917. He spent most of his life in Williams Lake, where he ran a successful business and was an active member of the Shrine club. Sid served in the Canadian army from May 1942 to December of 1946. Sid and Win retired to Penticton, B.C. and eventually settled in Kamloops. In his retirement years Sid became an accomplished gardener, and leaves a legacy of beautiful roses in his gardens in Williams Lake, Penticton and Kamloops to remind us of his love. Sid also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved sitting in a boat with a rod in one hand and a beer in the other.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Kamloops Alliance Church, 233 Fortune Drive, on Saturday December 20, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. officiated by his grandson Edward Milne.

Myrtle Gaynes
August 15, 1949 - December 27, 2008
Myrtle Gaynes of Kamloops, B.C. passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 59 years of age.
She is survived by her parents Elsie and Ralph Gaynes of Kamloops and son Mark of Kelowna; brother Terry (Brenda) Gaynes and sister Beverley (John) Petri; nieces Stephanie, Jennifer, Stacey, Jessica, Nicole and Katy; and great nephew Travis Burley . She was predeceased by her great nephew Tyler Burley, and Shylo (her beloved dog).
Myrtle will be remembered for her humour and extremely positive outlook on life despite living with a lengthy illness that included multiple complications related to diabetes.
The family is comforted in knowing that Myrtle is reunited with her loving companion and pet, Shylo.
Special thanks to the staff of the Renal Unit at Royal Inland Hospital.
The Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, January 2, 2009 in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mary Widmer officiating.

FREDERICK ARTHUR WHALEY
November 11, 1929 - December 26, 2008
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Fred Whaley on December 26, 2008 after a long and difficult battle with lung disease and most recently cancer.
Fred is survived by his children Sandra (Les) Hall, Dianne (Fernando) Cupello, Cheryl (Bob) McDermid, Jim (Sharon) Whaley, Rick (Lisa) Whaley: as well as his eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, Also surviving him are his brothers Jack Whaley, Ron (Doreen) Whaley,along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Fred was predeceased by his loving wife Velma of 53 years, parents John and Elizabeth Whaley, brothers George Finlay and Jim Whaley.
Born in Trail B.C. Fred made his home in various communities over the years and his most recent home was at Bedford Manor in Kamloops.
The family wishes to thank Dr Langford for all his dedication and help over the years, the staff on 3 West at Royal Inland Hospital for their care these last 2 months and also the staff at Bedford Manor for the respect they gave him.
There will be no funeral by request. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation in Fred’s name.

Joseph Louie Lock
March 12, 1923 - December 22, 2008
Joseph Louie Lock passed away peacefully at home in the early morning of December 22, 2008.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Agnes; his sisters Wilma, Katie, Anna (Ron) and Rosie; his children Eileen (John) Perez of Richmond and Dennis (Kathie) Lock of Kamloops; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Joseph immigrated to Canada from Yugoslavia at 3 years of age, and lived in the Rutland and Osoyoos areas. After serving his country overseas in World War 2, Joseph returned to Osoyoos and purchased land for a fruit farm, which he and his family ran for many years. Joe eventually moved into Sawmilling, which he continued to do until his retirement in Kamloops in 1985. Joe loved to travel and spent time, after retiring, visiting many parts of Canada, the United States and Europe. Joe was very active in local seniors groups, as well as a member of the Legion and Elks.
Joe’s family would like to thank the wonderful staff at RIH and Doctor H. Stefanyk for all of their kindness and care.
A Celebration for the life of Joseph Louie Lock will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 2:00 pm in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel, 285 Fortune Drive, with Pastor Mary Widmer officiating.

Mae Sommers O'Hara
November 4, 1914 - January 1, 2009
Mae Sommers O’Hara of Kamloops passed away on January 1, 2009 at 94 years of age.
Mae was born on November 4, 1914 at Winnipeg Manitoba to John and Beth Davis, an only child.
Mae is survived by her husband Vincent O’Hara.
In Mae’s early years she worked as a hair dresser, and then became an instructor in Regina as well as Edmonton. Mae and Vince met in Cold Lake Alberta and have spent many happy and loving years together, working side by side. When they moved to Kamloops in 1967, they opened Mae’s Rug and Upholstery Cleaning business. They worked together for many years and met many interesting people.
In later years, Mae had health problems and Vincent lovingly cared for her at home. The last 3 ½ years Mae was at Overlander Care Facility, where Vincent was at her side daily, helping with her care with much love and affection. Mae will be missed.
Prayers will be recited at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Peter Nguyen at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at O.L.P.H.. Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Our mother passed away at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, B.C. after a long and courageous battle with Cancer, Stroke and Pneumonia.
She leaves behind to mourn her passing, three daughters Betty (Don) Ferguson, Joan Akers, Roberta Specht, one brother Don (Bea) Sharp, many nephews, nieces, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Mom was known to all as the “LITTLE BIRD”

LLOYD RUSSELL NORRIS
December 20, 1922 - January 1, 2009
Peacefully on January 1, 2009, Lloyd Russell Norris passed away at the Hamlets in Kamloops at the age of 86 years.
Lloyd will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Shirley (Rod), grandson Steve (Vanessa), granddaughter Barb (Larry), great-granddaughter Ashlee, sisters, Ruth and Joyce, niece Merle and other numerous nieces and nephews. Lloyd was predeceased by his wife Mabel, his 7 brothers, Albert, Claude, Earl, Allan, Harold, Howard, Lyle and 2 sisters, Alma and Edna.
Lloyd was born on December 20th, 1922 in Morris, Manitoba. Lloyd was very proud to have served his country in World War II. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 52. After the war, he worked at B.C. Hydro until his retirement. In his retirement he enjoyed many days of fishing and camping at Stump and Tunkwa Lakes. He was an active member of the Westsyde Seniors Group. Lloyd loved to play cards-no one could beat him at crib.
Lloyd’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the wonderful compassionate staff at the Hamlets in caring for Lloyd over the last year.
