ANDREWS - Ryan Stanley Edward, beloved grandson of Nat Bailey and his wife Eva, both predeceased. Ryan passed away suddenly on Friday, June 12, 2000, age 43 years. Survived by mother Alice Andrews; brothers Arthur and wife Cathy and Mark. Service of remembrance will be held Wednesday, June 21, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. from the Hamilton-Harron Funeral Centre, 5390 Fraser St. (at 38th Ave.) Vancouver, B.C. In lieu of flowers donations to the B.C. Children's Hospital would be appreciated. Following the service there will be a family gathering open to those wishing to attend. ARAKI - Toshi Anna, born in Vancouver, November 20th, 1929, passed into the arms of God on Saturday, June 17th, 2000. She is survived by her 5 children, Gary, Wayne (Linda), Marilynne, Rickie, Patsy (Chris), 6 grandchildren, Paul, Richard, Natalie, Keiko, Curtis and Adam. She will be sadly missed by all her many friends and family. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 23rd, at 7:00 p.m. from the Vancouver Japanese United Church, 4010 Victoria Drive, Vancouver. BACH - Wilfred Ernest, born May 31, 1917, passed away June 16, 2000, into the arms of our Lord. Affectionately known as "Uncle Wolfy" he will be greatly missed and always lovingly remembered. Wilfred served overseas in WWII. He is survived by his sisters Edith, Vie and Marg; brother Kayo; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2000, at 1:30 p.m. from the chapel of Burnaby Funeral Directors, 4276 Hastings St., Burnaby. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Park. BEDDOW - Tony fought a courageous battle but passed away peacefully on June 16, 2000 at St. Paul's Hospital. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Lori; sister Stella (Doug) and their children Chris, Kim, and Kelly; brother Alan (Lynda) and their children Jason and Mavis as well as other family members. Tony worked in the optical business for many years and he will be greatly missed by the people he worked with. The family wishes to thank the dedicated doctors and nursing staff of the Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit. Special thanks to Sue Mortimer and Bill Hryhor. BERARDINO - Mary passed away peacefully on June 18th, 2000, at UBC Hospital, age 87 years. She was known to all as "May". Predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Jack Elario, who died on December 26th, 1989. She was also predeceased by 5 brothers, John, Lewis, William, James and Thomas, 4 sisters, Margaret, Bella, Nellie, and Grace. She is survived by her son Bill, daughter-in-law Margot, her grandchildren, spouses, and great-grandchildren, Corolyn (Dean), Anne, John (Karen) and Frances, as well as many relatives in B.C. and the USA. May wished to thank her relatives and friends whose visits, cards, words of support gave her great comfort and encouragement, particularly in recent months. The family extend sincere thanks to Dr. N. James and the nurses and staff of Wards 2A and 2B at UBC Hospital. At May's request there will be no service. A private family interment will take place at the family plot in Ocean View Cemetery. BRAUND - Erlon Garth "Pud" passed away peacefully at Surrey Memorial Hospital, Surrey, BC, on June 15, 2000, at the age of 86 years. Garth will be lovingly remembered by his wife "Snookie" of 60 years; son Peter (Anne) of Toronto; daughter Tish (Larry) of Surrey; grandchildren Catherine, Jennifer, Kevin, Christopher, Laura and Tim. Garth played with the "big band" sound of Ferde Mowry at the "Embassy" in Toronto in the 30's, and in 1950 proudly represented Canada in curling in Scotland. Garth worked as a broker/dealer on the Vancouver Stock Exchange in the 70's, 80's, and 90's. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2000, at the Arbor Chapel at Valley View Memorial Gardens, 14660-72nd Avenue, Surrey, BC. CASTLE - Arthur A. (Art), born Yale, B.C. May 19, 1897, late of Hawthorne Lodge, Port Coquitlam, deceased on June 15, 2000. Predeceased by his loving wife Doris in 1985, Art is survived by his son Vernon E. (Pearl), of West Vancouver; daughters Dorothy (Arthur) Laxton, of Victoria and Marjorie (Clifford) Rock, of Mission; 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Art served overseas with the 47th and 29th Bns. - C.E.F. in WWI and with the P.C.M.R. in WWII. He was a longtime employee of the C.P.R. Funeral service will be held at Trinity United Church, Prairie and Shaughnessy, Port Coquitlam, with Rev. Celia Howard officiating on Wednesday, June 21, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Port Coquitlam Cemetery. CHAMBERS - Ruth Grenfell nee Ryerse (Kennedy) passed away peacefully in Clinton, Ontario on Friday, June 16th, 2000. She is survived by her loving husband William (Bill), and many dearly loved relatives and friends in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. Ruth was born in 1921 in Simcoe, Ontario and trained as a nurse in Hamilton, Ontario. She came to Vancouver in 1946 where she served as a staff nurse and supervisor at Shaughnessy Hospital until her retirement in 1978. Active with Meals on Wheels, she was president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #30, an office which she also held on her return to Clinton, Ontario. A loving, cheerful person, an excellent and generous cook, and a faithful friend. She will be truly missed. Funeral Service followed by cremation takes place in Clinton, Ontario.

CLIMIE - Robert Clarke, born June 7, 1921, died June 15, 2000 after a lengthy illness. A longtime resident of West Vancouver, Bob served in the R.C.N. during W.W.II and worked in the airline industry after the war until his retirement. Survived by Jean, his loving wife of 53 years; son Rob (Beatrix) and granddaughters Samantha and Grace; brothers Dick (Muriel) and Ted (Valerie). An avid skier and golfer, Bob was a caring, astute and humble man who will be greatly missed. There will be no funeral or flowers by request.
