LUNOW - Henry passed away peacefully on June 17, 2000 at the Heather Pavilion, VGH. Henry was born in Poland in 1934. In 1948 the family immigrated to Canada, settling in North Burnaby. Having finished his schooling in Germany, he now had to start all over in Grade 1. He quickly learned to speak English and four years later received his Grade 12 diploma from North Burnaby High. He then went to work for Merritt Engine & Equipment. During this time he met and fell in love with Maria and they were married in 1957. The firm transferred them to Toronto in 1960. Transferring back to Vancouver in 1962, Henry spent a few more years with Merritt and eventually left them to take on a position with Finning Tractor. He spent 27 successful years at Finning, retiring in 1990. Henry often thought of his homeland and on several occasions took Maria on trips to Germany and Poland to revisit the places of his youth and to spend time with his many relatives there. Henry and Maria enjoyed their retirement years by travelling throughout Canada and the U.S. in their Westfalia. For many years Henry enjoyed being a member of the Vancouver Golf Club. Henry was also a fine craftsman, and with his hands and his mind created many beautiful pieces of furniture for their home and for loved ones. Henry's love was for his family.
