COX - Judith "Judy" Evelyn. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved sister on June 5th, 2000 at St. Paul's Hospital, age 54 years. Predeceased by her father Ted Cox in 1983 and mother Evelyn Cox in 1999. CROWELL - Rose Emily Elizabeth (nee Easto) born June 5, 1928 in Vancouver, B.C. passed away peacefully June 4, 2000 after a courageous 20 year battle with kidney disease. Rose was a tower of strength to her family and will be sadly missed by her two daughters Carol (Don), Brenda (Terry), sister Enid, brother Jim, nephew Ken, granddaughter Tara (Luca), grandsons Daniel, Brian and Michael (Erinn/Eric) and friends Al and Blackie. Predeceased by her husband Searle, and her parents Herbert and Rose Easto. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff of the VGH Renal Unit for their support and care throughout the years and the staff at the Burnaby Hospital Cascade Residence for their kindness throughout the past few months. Also a special thanks to Williamsons Ambulance Service and their wonderful employees, the many Community Home Support Workers who cared for Rose through the years and her special friend Dolly. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Friday June 9, 2000 at 12:30 pm, at St. David of Wales Anglican Church, 2475 Franklin St., Vancouver, B.C. by the Reverend Fr. James A. Penrice, ssc. Interment to follow the service at Valley View Cemetery, Surrey, B.C. in the Garden of the Good Shepherd. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kidney Foundation would be greatly appreciated. DUGUID - William "Bill" peacefully passed away on Sunday, June 4th, 2000. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba May 14th, 1931. Bill served 17 years in the RCN, 7 years of which was served on the HMCS Grilse, from there he went to work at the Department of Fisheries until retirement. Bill was a loving husband to his wife of 48 years Marnie, a dear father to Linda (Mike) Smith, the late Janice (Doug) Anderson, and special Poppa to Joseph, Angela, Michael, Kathy-Anne and Ashley and special friend to Kevin. Bill will be missed by all who knew him. ERICKSON - Douglas N. Born October 4, 1938 in New Westminster, B.C., passed away suddenly but peacefully in is sleep on June 3, 2000 in White Rock, B.C. `Uncle Doug' was predeceased by his beloved parents Mary and Herman, and his infant sister Madelline. Survived by 9 loving brothers and sisters: Camilla (Peter), Monte (Pat), Chappy (Betty), Joan (Nick), Gloria (Bill), Kathryn (Ray), Mary, Ed, Stina and special friend Dan. Doug was a `fun uncle' to 31 nieces and nephews and a great-uncle 47 times over! He grew up in New Westminster, attending St. Peter's School and graduated from Lester Pearson in 1957. A huge void will be in our lives with the passing of this kind, gentle brother, uncle and caring friend - but the family rejoices that Doug now enjoys perfect peace and rest in the arms of our Lord and Savior. HAWKES - Leo Gerard, born December 31st, 1936, passed away June 5th, 2000 after a short courageous battle with cancer. Lovingly remembered by his wife of 41 years Pat; sons Ken, Al (Lynette) and daughters Diane, Tanya (Mike); 9 grandchildren Mathieu, Chantal, Denis, Jeffrey, Jessica, Katie, Jonathan, Amy and Benjamin. He will be sadly missed by his mother Mary Ellen; sisters Bea (Gerry), Kay, Florence (Norm); brother John, and many other relatives, friends and neighbours. Leo was predeceased by his father Garnet, brother Floyd and infant sister Deborah. There will be no formal service by request, cremation and interment. An open house will be held on Thursday, June 8th from 1 - 5 p.m. at his family home. If desired, donations in lieu of flowers, may be made to a charity of your choice.

JOHNSTON - Thomas Arthur ("Tom") Senior passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 3, 2000 at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He was 89 years old. He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Pauline (nee Choa) Johnston and six children: Thomas Jr. (Vancouver) married to Elizabeth, their two daughters Yvonne and Lyse; Peter (London, England), Mary-Jacquelyn (Toronto), Valerie Hofer (Vancouver) married to Andreas Hofer, Simon (Vancouver) married to Sheila, and William (Oakville, Ont.) Other immediate family include nephew Ras Hansen and wife, Pauline and their two children Caryn and Andrew. Tom Johnston spent his working life in the import/export business based in Hongkong. He was a veteran of WWII in the battle of Hongkong. He retired from business to settle in Vancouver in the mid 1980s. The family wishes to thank Dr. Kline, Dr. Nedd and their team at St. Paul's Hospital. Their care and attention was exemplary. Visitation is on Wednesday, June 7th, 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. at Kearney Chapel, 1096 West Broadway, Vancouver. There will be a mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, June 8th, 2000 at 11 a.m. at Guardian Angels Church, 1161 Broughton Street (off Davie). Following the service, interment will be at Gardens of Gethsemani, Surrey. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the Lung Association or to the charity of choice. KENDALL - Grace (Mooney nee Kraushaar) passed away peacefully on June 3, 2000, surrounded by love from her husband, John, daughters Christine, Susan, Linda, Arlene and Trish, sister Carol and brothers Clayton (Crash), Vern, Richard, Don and Ron and many other family members and friends. Grace will be so missed by her grandchildren Erin, Roseanna, Lucas and Brett. Grace touched deeply all who knew her. She would say that "you get back what you give" and what she gave was love to those around her. When she died, her room was not big enough for everyone who wanted to be there - but her heart was. A celebration of Grace's life will be held at the Point Grey Golf & Country Club, 3350 S.W. Marine Dr. Vancouver on Friday June 9, 2000, beginning at 2 p.m. Everyone is welcome. LACON - "Chug" (Reginald) sailed off on June 1, after a short illness, in his 87th year. Born in Victoria to Hilda, who survived the Titanic. Schooled at Shawnigan Lake, Royal Naval College Dartmouth, and the Royal Navy. Rose to command destroyers with distinction during and after the Battle of the Atlantic, and retired Commander, D.S.C. with Bar. Returned to Denman Island, the family homestead. Married Beatrice (nee Burroughs) and enjoyed their life together over the next 24 years, settling finally in West Vancouver. He is fondly remembered by his friends (fishermen and golfers too) and his family. No service at his request. He will rest over his favorite fishing spot.

CAMPBELL - Marlyne Rose (nee Galganetz) passed away peacefully in her sleep at Saanich Peninsula Hospital on December 9, 2000. Born on March 29, 1924 in Nacmine, Alberta. She grew up and graduated from business school in Vernon, then moved to Vancouver. There she started her lifelong career of loving, raising and nurturing her family. She is survived by her daughters Judy (Al) Bowman and Pat (Doug) Straub; sons John (Monica) and Colin (Joyce), as well as cherished grandchildren Cheryl, Christopher, Gordon, Mary, Melissa, Michael, Rowan and Quinn. Her family meant everything to her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She goes on now to join her love of 50 years William Ernest Campbell who predeceased here by one and a half years. "Mom, you're with dad now, you can continue to love and have fun for eternity. You taught us well and you will be treasured and missed."
