FRIESEN, Agnes - Saturday, 15 Apr 2006
Agnes was born on September 3, 1920, in the village of Tiege in Sagradovka, Ukraine to Abram and Anna Wiens. The family came to Canada in 1925 when Agnes was nearly five years old. They settled first in Hamburg, Ontario, then moved to a farm in Manitoba two years later. The family attended the Mennonite Brethern Church in Steinbach, Manitoba. Agnes married John Friesen on her birthday in 1983. She and John lived in Abbotsford until his death on November 2, 2001. John had been in the Menno Hospital due to a series of strokes that left him virtually helpless and Agnes moved to the Menno Terrace so she could visit him daily and assist him with his meals. She remained in that residence until her own death on April 15, 2006.
