HUT, HEINE - Friday, 28 Feb 2003
Heine was taken to be with his Lord on February 28, 2003 in Abbotsford at the age of 89 years. He was born in Doezum, the Netherlands, January 12, 1914. He is predeceased by his loving wife Teresa in March 2000, and his grandson Howard Kingma in 1991.
He leaves to mourn his loving children, Anke Kingma (Andy), Henry Hut (Alida), Nel Croft (Gary), Wilma Faber (Ted), Sylvia Griffioen (Nol), Evelyn Floris (Simon). Also leaves one sister Wietske Gjaltema in Pitt Meadows.
Opa will be greatly missed by his 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of his life will be held March 4, 2003 at 12:30 p. m. at the Gateway Community Christian Reformed Church, 1951 McCallum Road, Abbotsford, B.C. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all the nurses and staff of the Dialysis Unit in Abbotsford for the wonderful loving care that was given to our Dad. Donations in Heine's memory to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, #320 - 1600 West 6th Avenue, Vancouver, B.C. V6S 1R3, appreciated.

Jacob Martens, born October 3, 1925 in Ikraine, peacefully went to be with his Lord, July 7, 2003 at the age of 77 years.
Jacob is survived by his loving family, wife of 48 years Ema; children Walter (Dorothea); Ingrid Martens; Marianne Martens; Dietrich Martens; Heide (Steven) Harms; 4 sisters Agathe Martens, Mary Martens, Margaret (Peter) Bergmann, Annie (Enrich) Friesen, also survived by many other relatives and friends.
Predeceased by infant daughter Elfriede.
Viewing will be held from 7:00 - 8:00 p. m., Thursday, July 10th, 2003 at Culloden M. B. Church.
Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a. m., Friday, July 11th, 2003 at Valley View Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 14644 - 72nd Ave., Surrey.

Jopson, Barbara C. passed away on Monday, July 7, 2003, at her residence in Abbotsford, B.C. at the age of 79 years. Predeceased by her husband John, her mother Edith and father Wendell.
Barbara will be lovingly remembered by her sons John and David (Ruth) and daughter Linda; her grandchildren, Sarah (Chris), Rachel, Camille (Thaddian), James (Lyzet), Michael and Dylan. She also leaves her brother Clayton (Charlotte) Purdy, as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

PHILLIPS, ROBERT WILLIAM - Monday, 07 Jul 2003
Robert William Phillips (Xowlets Sts'ailes) passed away suddenly on Monday, July 7, 2003 at Vancouver General Hospital at age 68 years. He was born on November 9, 1934 at Chehalis.
Bob is survived by children Robert Jr. (Naomi), Denise (Harvey), Laverne (Matt) and Mike (Rhonda); sister Millie Silver (Ray), Virginia Peters, Pat Charlie (Tunny) and Loretta Felix (Glen); brothers Reg (Louise) and Gerald (Paulette); 18 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Mary Ann; parents William and Nancy Phillips, Martha and Alex Joe; brothers Arnold W., Ronald, Arnold Alvin, Theodore and William Earl and sister Eleanor.
Viewing for the family and friends was held on Thursday, July 10, 2003 at 7:00 p. m. at 1008 Phillips Road, Chehalis, B.C.
A Funeral Service was held on Friday, July 11, 2003 at 10:00 a. m. from Chehalis Community Hall; Father Gerry Guillet officiating. Burial took place on Friday, July 11, 2003 at Chehalis Cemetery (main village), following the funeral service.
Pallbearers: Robert Bird, Clarence Pennier, Carl Simon, Terry Denealt, Mike Joe, Tom Kealy, Carey Jefferson, Gordon Phillips, Eddie Jules and Andy Louie. Honourary Pallbearers; Cliff Scott, Merle Phillips, Irving Felix, Peter James, John Roberts, Ab Kelly, Leonard Fisher, Al Charlie, Johnny Leon, Johnny Williams, Larry Morgan and Benny Joe. Robert worked at G & R Cedar, attended our Lady of Fatima Church, was the founder of the Chelhalis A. A. Group, former player for the Sasquatch Soccer Club, member of Chehalis Elders Group, manager for the Chehalis Cobra's Ball Hockey Club and was a great hunter and fisherman. He was a devoted family man and a role model for the community. Bob was an avid story teller and is deeply loved by all that knew him.

James Edward "Jim", at Abbotsford, B.C. on Monday July 7, 2003, aged 52 years. Predeceased by his father James, Jim is survived by Susan, his loving wife.
He leaves also his mother Joy; his daughters, Anita, Jessica (Nigel) and Rebecca; his step-sons Larry (Cindy) Wilson, Bruce Wilson and Eric (Robyn) Rayner.
Jim will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Ian, Jordan, Zachary, Thya and Aurianna; his sister, Judy (Rich)Regnier, his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

GOODWIN, DELHIS - Sunday, 06 Jul 2003
Delhis Marjorie Goodwin (nee Russell) passed away at M. S. A. Hospital Cottage Extended Care Facility in Abbotsford on July 6, 2003 at age 87.
She was born November 29, 1915 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, one of nine children born to Harold Russell and Laura (Eastman) Russell. Delhis gew up in the rural Saskatoon area and attended Brookland School.
Delhis married Gerald Arnold Goodwin in 1936 and they farmed in the Beaver Creek and Lorne Avenue area where Gerald was stricken with polio later that same year just before the birth of their first son Arnold.
Delhis helped run the farm and raise the couple's two sons. In 1961 they sold the farm and she moved to B.C. with her husband and youngest son Harvey. She worked at a poultry processing plant and later Abbotsford rural mail route #1 for ten years with her husband.
Delhis was a wonderful cook and was devoted to her family. She made many car trips back to Saskatchewan to the cabin at Emma Lake and to visit with family and friends. She loved picnics, playing cards and gardening and was very close to her brothers and sisters. Her grandchildren all enjoyed time spent with her at the lake. Many members of the Russell family also came to visit there.
She is survived by her 2 sons Arnold (Julie) Goodwin of Spruce Home, SAsk., Harvey (Marilyn) Goodwin of Abbotsford, B.C., sisters Dorothy Kenzie and Madeline Jonah of White Rock, B.C., Marlene (Gordon) McLean of Qualicum Beach, B.C.. Audrey Russell of Ladner, B.C., brothers Clifford (Doris) Russell of Peterborough, Ont., and Lorne (Sharon) Russell of Saskatoon, Sask. ; sister-in-laws Helen Howes of Abbotsford, B.C., Anne Russell of Vanderhoof, B.C. and Dorothy Goodwin of Saskatoon, Sask., grandchildren Linda Goodwin of Price Albert, Sask., Murray (Leslie) Goodwin and Colin (Sondra) Goodwin of Calgary, Alta., Michelle (Mike) Appledoorn and Mark (Kara) Goodwin of Abbotsford, B.C., great-grandchildren Kurtis, Tyson, Krystal and Allison Appeldoorn of Abbotsford, B.C., Courtney, Jade and Isaac Goodwin of Calgary, Alta., and Sask.
Delhis was predeceased by her husband Gerald, sister Ethel Smith and brother Bruce Russell.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 10 at 1:00 p. m. from the chapel at First Memorial Funeral Services at 27555 - 31st Avenue, Aldergrove. Burial will follow at Hazelwood Cemetery in Abbotsford. If desired, donations may be made to the Salvation Army.

DAWSON, KENNETH RUSSELL - Sunday, 06 Jul 2003
Kenneth Russell Dawson late of Abbotsford passed away at MSA Hospital on the morning of July 6, 2003 at the age of 84.
Ken was pedeceased by his wife Kathleen. He will be sadly missed by his daughters Sharon McRae and Linda Cluett both of Abbotsford, six grandchildren, Carmen (Dan), Rob, Melody, Tracy (Bob), Colleen (Roland), Nicola (Brian), seven great- grandchildren, sisters Rose Hunnisett, Cora Koziel, sisters-in-law Margery Hall, Phyllis Nelson, numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Ken was one of the first telephone men to be stationed in Abbotsford. Later in his career he became Mill Foreman at Utah Mines in Port Hardy. He and Kay retired back to Abbotsford in 1983. He was also a fifty-year member of the Masonic Ionic Lodge in Chilliwack.
A memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 14, 2003 at 2 p. m. from First Memorial Chapel at 27555 - 31st Ave. in Aldergrove. Reverend Elgin Taylor will officiate.

LEGACE, FRANK JAMES - Sunday, 06 Jul 2003
Frank James, a member of one of Mission's pioneering families, passed away July 6, 2003 at E. C. U. of Mission Hospital in Mission, B.C. with his wife and daughter at his side. Born January 28, 1911 in Abbotsford, B.C., he lived a full life for 92 years.
He was a good husband and father and ran a dairy farm in Hatzic Prairie for many years before retiring in 1974 and then moving to Mission, B.C. Frank was predeceased by a sister Thelma "Dolly" Ross in 1972, and his parents Louis in 1975 and Adeline in 1978.
He is survived by Adrienne, his wife of 42 years and his daughter Mary Faith; three foster brothers, Max (Daphne) Shepherd, Jim Pal and Joe Pal, sister-in-law Madeleine Bellingham; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Prayers will be offered for the repose of his soul, at 7:00 p. m. on Sunday, July 13 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 32550 7th Avenue, Mission, B.C.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Monday, July 14, 2003, 10:00 a. m. Father Thomas A. Nicholson, Celebrant. Interment at Hatzic Cemetery. MITCHELL, MARGARET (PEGGY) - Sunday, 06 Jul 2003
Margaret (Peggy) Mitchell, born in Bridge of Allan, Scotland on February 11, 1910, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2003, in Abbotsford, B.C. She was predeceased by her daughter Margot in 1988, and husband of 59 years Alec in 1996.
She is survived by family in Scotland, Canada and Australia. Sons; Peter (Gloria), James (Carolyn), Sandy (Lindsay). Son-in-law George (Margot). Grandsons; Ewan, Alasdair, Glen, Scott and Martin. Granddaughters; Fiona, Louise and Laura. Plus six great grandchildren.
During her eventful 93 years, Peg was in the early thirties, an internationally acclaimed Ladies Rifle Champion, with the looks of a movie star. She's sorely missed!
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the dedicated and compassionate staff at Valhaven Nursing Home and the congregation of the Calvin Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations to the C. P. C. building fund would be appreciated. Interment was held at Musslewhite.

BAKER, WARD HENRY - Saturday, 05 Jul 2003
Ward Henry Baker, late of Yale, passed away peacefully at the Fraser Canyon Hospital in Hope after a lengthy illness on Saturday, July 5, 2003. He was 78 years of age.
A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate Ward's life at the Maple Ridge Royal Canadian Legion at 1:00 p. m. on Saturday, July 12, 2003 with Padre Dal McCrindle officiating. A tea will follow at The Maple Ridge One-Way Club, 22270 North Street, Maple Ridge.
Cremation will precede the service at Valley Crematorium, Chilliwack.
Ward will be sadly missed by his entire family including Mabel his loving wife of 57 years and his children Sharon (Mike) Bayduzza, of Port Moody and Cyril (Sheila) of Maple Ridge, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his brothers Bruce (Lorraine) of Summerland and Robert (Beth) of Sooke as well as his sisters Joyce (Willie) Rust of Oliver and Muriel (Walter) Souve of Campbell River.
He was predeceased by his sister Nora Bickerdyck.
Ward was a veteran of WW11 and served in the Royal Candian Navy in the R. C. N. V. R. As a pastime Ward enjoyed gold-panning.

DZIWAK, HELEN JENNIFER - Thursday, 03 Jul 2003
Mrs. Helen Jennifer Dziwak, late of Abbotsford, passed away on July 3, 2003 at the age of 86 years.
She is survived by children, Lily, Margaret (Bill), Peter (Shawna), Frances (Jerry), Ted, Mary Ann (Paul), as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by husband Teodore in 1996, and son Joseph in 1964.
She was an avid gardener and loved looking after her dogs and faithfully filled bird feeders for her winged friends.
Helen and Teodore were long time residents of Matsqui Prairie. Their property is a successful blueberry farm operation to this day.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2003 at 2:00 p. m. at Hazelwood Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Wattman officiating.
Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
