Susanna "Sue" late of Abbotsford, B.C. passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord December 18, 2003 at the age of 88 years. Sue is survived by her loving family, husband of 65 years, Jake; son Bob (Susan); grandchildren Jeff, Heather (Michael) Kleyn; great-grandchildren Kye, Elisha; sister Erna Klassen; brother Con Goerzen.

FROESE, VIOLET - Wednesday, 17 Dec 2003
Violet Marie Froese passed away peacefully in her sleep December 17, 2003 after a long battle with cancer.
Violet was born April 20th, 1920 in Garden Head, Saskatchewan. She married Walter Froese on May 25th, 1942, and enjoyed 61 years of marriage together, living in Abbotsford for most of these years.
She was instrumental in starting the Trinity Lutheran Church Sunday School and a long time active member of the Peace Lutheran Church, and the Golden Friendship Club, and was acknowledged for her many years of community leadership in 1999, by receiving an award from the International Year of Older Persons.
Violet spent 27 years teaching children in the Abbotsford School District #34, which she enjoyed vey much and was also a Sunday School instructor for many years. She was vey active in the Retired Teachers Association.
She enjoyed travelling to the Praries to visit relatives, entertaining friends and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a very special person to all of us and had a great influence on many loved ones lives, and will be in our hearts forever.
Violet is survived by her loving husband Walter, her daughter Jeanette (Roger)Frederick of Whitecourt, AB, her sons Dennis Froese of Sechelt, and Wally (Tammy) Froese of Mission, her seven grandchildren; Harrison, Derrick, Kim, Jim, Lori, Dean, Darin and three great-grandchildren; Kayla, Brandon & Alyssa, and many nieces and nephews.
Violet was predeceased by her sisters Hilda, Margaret, and Thelma, and her parents Henry and Margaret Meincke.
The Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, December 23rd at 11:00 a. m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 2029 Ware Street, Abbotsford with Pastor Christoph Reinders and Ozzie Olson officiating. Everyone is invited to a reception at the church after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the B.C. Cancer Society or the Peace Lutheran Church would be appreciated.

Holden, Victoria was gathered up to heaven early May 16, 2004 (Rogation Sunday) to join her husband Brian. She was born in Salina Cruz, Mexico in 1908. Mom resided in Mexico City for many years and was a resident of Abbotsford for 20 years.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter Wendy and son-in-law Erik; her grandchildren Robin, his wife Tami. Mom is also survived by all her nieces, nephews and friends in Mexico, England, Spain, New Zealand, United States, and Canada.
A Memorial Serivce will be held on Friday, May 28, 2004 at 11:00 a. m. from St. Matthew's Anglican Church, 2010 Guildford (at Marshall Road), Abbotsford. If friends so desire, donations may be directed to a charity of choice.

MURPHY, ALEXANDER - Monday, 17 May 2004
Mr. Alexander Guy Anthony Murphy late of Abbotsford passed away on May 17, 2004 at the age of 16 years.
He is survived by his Mom Andrea and siblings Myles 12 yrs. old, Junnaya 9 yrs. old, Paige 6 yrs. old and his dog Buck. He also leaves behind and will be sadly missed by many friends.
Alexander was predeceased by Gramma Ross, and Vivian (Tiffany's Mom).
Alexander was known as a leader and award winner amongst First Nations people. He was an honour roll student at Rick Hansen Secondary School, and a dedicated player on Rick Hansen's football team from grade 8 until the present. This team won the B.C. Championships in 2001.
A viewing will be held at Henderson's Funeral Home, 34537 Marshall Road, Abbotsford on Thursday, May 20th, 2004 from 1:00 to 4:00 p. m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2004 at 2:00 p. m. from Sevenoaks Alliance Church at 2575 Gladwin Road, Abbotsford with Pastor Barry Ratzlaff officiating.

EINFELD, GEORGE - Monday, 17 May 2004
George Einfeld, late of Mission, B.C. passed away on May 17, 2004 at the age of 80 years, at Mission Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife June, his 4 children; Georgia-Lee (Frank), Ken (Maureen), Sandra (Jim), Bobbi-Jo (Mike) and 6 grandchildren; Troy, Kirk, Connie, Krista, Chelsea and Brendan. He was predeceased by many relatives and close friends.
George was the youngest of 12 and loved camping, fishing and weekly card games. He was a fabulous cook and baker as well.
Funeral services will be held May 22, 2004 at 1:00 p. m. from Mission Foursquare Church at 33837 Prentis Ave., Mission with Pastor Derek Geerlof officiating. Donations may be made to Mission Hospice Society or the Canadian Cancer Society.
WATSON, MATTHEW ROBERT - Sunday, 16 May 2004
Bob died May 16th, 2004 at the MSA Hospital, Abbotsford, B.C. five days after the death of his wife of 61 years, his beloved Nellie. Both will be interred at the Masonic Cemetery, 4305 Halifax St., Burnaby, B.C. on Saturday, May 22nd at 2:00 p. m.
Bobby was born in the Whitehorse General Hospital, Sept. 12, 1915, the eldest child of Hazel and Matthew Watson, Yukon Pioneers. Bob was raised in Carcross, with siblings Bill, Jean (Scotty) and Douglas joining the family in turn while their parents operated a General Store, Fox and Mink Fur Farm and Rental Cabins.
Bob worked with his father at the Store and Ranch until 1942 when he started towing barges of logs for the U. S. Army and general contractors during the building of the Alaska Highway.
Bobby met Nellie in 1941 when Nellie came north to further her nursing career. They were married on April 26, 1943 in Carcross. He and Nellie stayed in Whitehorse until 1959, when thety moved to Carcross and bought Matthew Watson General Store from Bob's dad.
Bob joined the Masons in 1948 and maintained an interest in the work all these years. Bob adn Nellie retired to Abbotsford, B.C. in 1990 where they enjoyed their retirement years in a friendly and comfortable environment. There, and in the North, Nellie and Bob were visited many times by family, friends and acquaintances.
Bob is mourned by his brother Douglas and wife Janet, special niece Janie Brown and her husband Larry, and many nieces and nephews and their families.

On Sunday, May 16, 2004 at 8:00 p. m. our Heavenly Father took home our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Evalyn Groot, at the age of 86 years. Evalyn was predeceased by her husband, Pieter and granddaughter, Sharon Elaine Groot.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 21, 2004 at 1:00 p. m. from the Free Reformed Church 45471 Yale Road, Chilliwack, B.C. Pastor Hans Overduin officiating. William Temple "Bud' Haddrell passed away peacefully on May 15, 2004 at Abbotsford, B.C. in his 94th year. Born in Spy Hill, Saskatchewan in 1911. He was predeceased by his parents Charles A. and Annae Haddrell, his brothers Ace and Glen and his sister Betty. He is survived by his sister-in-law, 2 nephews and 2 nieces.

WATSON, NELLIE OKE - Tuesday, 11 May 2004
Nellie died peacefully at the MSA Hospital, Abbotsford, B.C. on Tuesday, May 11th, 2004. Born Nellie Rideau Oke on February 28th, 1916 in Oka, Quebec. Her parents, Peter Oke and Mary Simon, died when she was as infant.
Nellie was raised by an aunt and uncle until she was eight. She then lived in the Anglican Church School near Cornwall, ON, joining her three older sisters. Nellie was very proud to be a graduate nurse from the Victoria Hospital, London, ON, class of 1940.
Nellie met Bob while nursing at the Chooutla School in Carcross, Yukon. They were married in Carcross on April 26, 1943.
For the next 16 years, Nellie nursed at the Whitehorse General Hospital. She was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Whitehorse Chapter.
From 1959 to 1982 Nellie was Bob's partner, running their store in Carcross. She nursed part-time with Public Health for this village.
In 1990 Nellie and Bob retired to Abbotsford, B.C., enjoying living in their condo community.
Nellie was predeceased by her seven siblings. She leaves to mourn Douglas, her brother-in-law with wife Janet, Janie and Larry Brown, and many nieces and nephews and their families.
There will be a graveside service at the Masonic Cemetery, 4305 Halifax St., Burnaby, B.C., Saturday, May 22nd at 2:00 p. m.

Born July 23, 1916, Herbert Sask., passed away Sunday, May 9, 2004, Abbotsford, B.C. in her 87th year. Beloved wife of the late Albert Jans.
The Jans lived in Calgary, then Rimbey, AB., before retiring to Abbotsford, B.C.
Survived by one sister, Myrtle Kaye of Calgary. Loving mother of Ron and wife Mimi of Calgary, Murray and wife Audrey of Georgetown, ON. Grandma to Chris, Wendy, Jennifer, Mike and Melanie, and great-grandchild Will.

Anne Russell formerly of Surrey, B.C. passed away peacefully in Abbotsford on May 9, 2004 at the age of 87 years. She is survived by her loving daughter; Lori (Don) Barden, son; Robin Russell, her grandchildren; Russel & Jillian Barden. She was predeceased by her husband Charles in 1993.

Mrs. Marie Marlene Atkinson late of Abbotsford, B.C. passed away on June 27, 2007 at the age of 68 years, at M. S. A. Hospital. She is survived by her husband Colin Atkinson; her sons Steven (Cathy) Atkinson and Kenneth Atkinson; her daughters Suzanne (Brian) O’Donnell, Samantha Biggerstaff, Joanne Jensen, and Wendy (Bruce) Nelson; 15 grandchildren – Anna Marie, David, April, Christopher, Jill, Laura, Stephanie, Julie, Adam, Dawson, Pacey, Preston, Matthew, Jason, and Brittany; and her sister Rita (Les) Southwicke from England. She was predeceased by her brothers Sid and Arthur Hampshire of England. Marie was an energetic, fun-loving spirit. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She will be sadly missed by all.
A funeral service will be held on July 3, 2007 at 2:00 pm at Cascade Community Church 35190 Delair Rd., Abbotsford., with Pastor Martin Gouldthorpe officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Diabetes Association in Marie’s memory.
