VAN DEN DORPEL, Catharina
Catharina Van den Dorpel passed away in her 86th year, on April 29, 2000, at the Chilliwack General Hospital. She was born on Dec. 3, 1914 in Kruiningen, The Netherlands. Catharina emigrated to Canada with her husband and children in 1952. She is survived by Hubert, her husband of almost 64 years; three sons: Martin (Rene), Frank (Nella) and Casey (Brenda); and one daughter, Susan (Leonard Visscher), all of Chilliwack. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; also two sisters and two brothers in The Netherlands. She was predeceased by a granddaughter in 1971, a grandson in 1986 and a great-grandson in 1995; as well as 11 brothers and sisters in Holland. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2000 at 2:00 p.m., from Bethel Netherlands Reformed Congregation, Chilliwack, with Reverend Pieter van Ruitenburg officiating. Interment will follow at Oddfellows Cemetery on Little Mountain. Pall bearers were Herb Van den Dorpel, Peter Visscher, Bruce Van den Dorpel, Rick Van den Dorpel, Mike Roffel and George Noordegraaf. GIESBRECHT, David - Sunday, 13 Oct 2002
David Giesbrecht peacefully passed away into the presence of Jesus at Bevan Lodge, Abbotsford, Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002 at the age of 87 years. He was born in Kuban, Russia, immigrated to Canada via Mexico as a child, and settled in Yarrow, where he farmed and supported the physical needs of his family, church, and his community for 70 years.
David is predeceased by his wife Lydia in 1994; and one grandchild.
He is survived by his seven sons and their wives, John (Elsie), Ralph (Shirley), Robert (Shirley), Victor (Bonnie), Gerald (Rene), Philip (Heidi), and Harold (Nancy); 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five brothers and sisters.
Public viewing will be held in Yarrow Mennonite Brethren Church, 41991 Central Rd., Yarrow on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002 at 9 a.m. with a funeral service at 10 a.m., followed by interment in Yarrow Cemetery. Pastor Ron Braun, officiating.
In David’s memory, donations may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee, a Relief and Development Agency.

Lorraine Hooker passed away Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002 at Chilliwack General Hospital.
She is survived by her husband Verdun; daughters, Diana McCavera and Joanne Marshall; and grandchildren, Megan, Eben and Spencer.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002 at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home in Chilliwack.

John Blois Rich passed away peacefully into the presence of his Lord on October 13, 2002, after a brief stay at the Menno Hospital in Abbotsford.
John is mourned by his wife Katherina (nee Dosso) also residing at the Menno Hospital; and her brother and sisters and their families. John was born in Red Deer, Alta., July 15, 1923 where he spent many years farming. Retiring from farming, he first concentrated his efforts in the Red Deer and Sunny Brook Farm Museums, then upon marrying Kay Dosso in 1978, and moving to Chilliwack, he continued his museum interests at the Atchelitz site. A memorial service with Pastor Werner Froese officiating was held at the Eden Mennonite Church, Chilliwack on October 17, 2002.

John Blois Rich passed away peacefully into the presence of his Lord on October 13, 2002, after a brief stay at the Menno Hospital in Abbotsford. John is mourned by his wife Katherina (nee Dosso) also residing at the Menno Hospital; and her brother and sisters and their families. Lydia Schmautz passed away Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002 at Chilliwack General Hospital, at the age of 60 years. She was born October 10, 1942 in Alexanderthal, Russia. The family immigrated to Canada in February of 1948. Lydia is survived by her husband Ken; son Roy Schmautz of Boston Bar, daughter Ruby McPhate of Winfield, son Russ Carey of Chilliwack, and son Ryan (Cathy) Schmautz of Chilliwack; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers; one sister; one half-sister in Germany; and her mother Mary Petker. A viewing for family and friends will be held on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002 from 9-10 a.m. at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, 45865 Hocking Ave., Chilliwack, with interment following at Chilliwack Cemeteries on Little Mountain. A memorial service will follow in the afternoon at 2 p.m. from Central M.B. Church, 46100 Chilliwack Central Rd., Chilliwack.
WILTSHIRE, Hannah (Annie) - Saturday, 12 Oct 2002
Hannah (Annie) Wiltshire born 1900 in Lancashire, England, died October 12, 2002. Annie was a resident of Chilliwack since 1910, she was an avid gardener and longtime member of St. Thomas Anglican Church.
A private graveside service was held October 17, 2002. Rev. Charlie Lenz officiated. She is survived by her son Gordon and his wife Marilyn and family. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur in 1987.

Ann Amelia Reiman, passed away suddenly at the age of 62 at the Hamilton General Hospital with her loving family at her side, on Friday Oct. 11, 2002.

Any, John Whitehead
passed away Monday, Oct. 14, 2002 at Chilliwack General Hospital, at age 82 years. John was born February 16, 1920 at Jersey Channel Islands, England. On July 27, 1946, he married Cissie Thompson of Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. They lived in Jersey until September 1952, when they moved to the Arnold district of Nottingham. In September of 1965 they moved to Canada. In 1985 after 20 winters in Saskatoon, Sask. it was decided to escape the cold and move to Chilliwack.
Cissie passed away in January of 1999, in her 91st year. Her ashes have been scattered in the Garden of Rest at Wilford Hill Cemetery in Nottingham. John’s remains will be sent to join her.
John is survived by his step-daughter, Esmé, and her husband Roy Girling of Chilliwack.

Lawrence John Dyck, late of Chilliwack, BC, passed away Oct. 10, 2002 at the age of 69 years. He was born Nov. 11, 1932 in Carrot River District, SK.
Cremation, Valley Crematorium. Interment of cremated remains will take place at the Chilliwack Cemetery on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002 at 9:45 a.m. Pastor Kevin Pentland officiating.
Lawrence is survived by his wife Katherine; son Darryl (Angel) of Surrey; three grandchildren Eric, Justin, Katherina; two sisters: Marg Kitely of Carrot River, SK, Helen Ferris of Swift Current, SK, and mother-in-law, Mrs. Anne Neustaeter of Swift Current, SK.
He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Mary Dyck; four sisters: Ann, Eva, Marion and Dorothy; and two brothers, Art and Ross.

Bernard Jenner, late of Chilliwack, passed away Oct. 10, 2002 at the age of 83 years. He was born Sept. 17, 1919 in Holdfast, SK.
