LONG, Doris Ada Mary (nee Dadson) passed away on August 24, 2003 at the age of 94. Born in Tumbridge Wells, England on May 14, 1909, came to Canada in Surrey BC in 1912 and resided there for 91 years. Predeceased by her loving husband Russell 1999; son Gordon 1999; daughter-in-law Glady 2000. Survived by son Bill (Frieda) Warren, Janice; daughter Maryellen Fulton (Harvey), Sylvia (Rob Bath), Alysia, Micheal, Patty (Brian Hik) Ryan, Jordan Jonathan and Nicolas. James Fulton, James Jr. Stuart Fulton; grandchildren, Debby (Chuck) Peterson, Sharlyn Long, Steven Long and Pam Long. Predeceased by brother Fred Dadson (Lil). Survived by brothers, Edward, Tommy (Alma), Charlie (Ellen), Jim (Phyllis); sisters, Jo Holling (Walt), Norma Delorme; countless nieces and nephews. LUTHY, Peter William Luthy, surrounded by his pastor and family, passed away peacefully at Lions Gate Hospital on Monday, August 25, 2003 after a lengthy and courageous battle with leukemia. He was born October 20, 1936 in Vancouver, Washington. He moved with his family to the north shore in 1985; and worked in the pulp and paper industry for 46 years, where he was well respected by his peers. He is survived by his loving wife, Ellen, of 35 years; two daughters, Melinda Luthy (Karl Woodward) of Victoria, Kristen Stancato (Kyle) of University Place, WA; grandchildren, Karissa, Keegan and Kyler Stancato; brother, Jim Luthy (Nancy) of Portland, Maine; nieces, Vivian and Alison; nephews, Peter and Kurt; and cousins and extended family throughout the U.S. A Celebration of Peter's life will be held Saturday, August 30, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1110 Gladwin Drive, North Vancouver, B.C. V7R 1A2. We would like to thank all of the staff at Lions Gate Hospital for all their care and kindness especially Dr. Paul Klimo and staff at the Chemotherapy Clinic. COLEMAN, Frances E., age 81 years, passed away October 1, 2003. Survived by her husband of 53 years, Martin; her children, Gary (Heather), Margaret (Shane), Tom and Judy; her grandchildren, Nicole, Christopher, Sam, Ben, Justin and Joni; and her sister Betty (Tom) Cantrell. She also had many nieces, nephews and in-laws. All will miss her. Fran was known for her sparkling humor and great joy of life and her love of family and friends. Fran wished to be cremated so a gathering will take place at the Coquitlam Legion Branch on Saturday, October 4th, 10:30 - 11:30 am. CORRECTION GRUBER, Maria passed away peacefully in Vancouver, September 28, 2003 in her 83rd year. She endures in the love and respect of her daughters Erika Johnson (Chad) and Sue Murguly (George); grandchildren: David Murguly (Carmen), Elisa Murguly (Larry Hegan), Tige Johnson (Michelle Fowlie), Brandt Johnson (Laura McFadyen), Andrea Johnson (Hassan Mohammed Ali); and great-grandchildren: Ali, Colby, Aibhlin, Sierra, Ana Sophia, and Melani. Maria was extremely passionate about her family, a trait that will be forever cherished by all. A service to celebrate Maria's life will be held at the Hungarian Reform Church of Vancouver, 900 East 19th Avenue at 6:30 p.m., October 3, 2003. HEAH, Hock Meng, born March 6, 1926 in Penang, Malaysia, passed away September 29 in Vancouver at Vancouver Hospital. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Julia, his sons Peter (and wife Michelle) and Tom (and partner France), and his friends and colleagues. A memorial service, followed by a reception, will be held on Wednesday, October 8th at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 969 Burrard Street, Vancouver. JOHAL, Karma Singh Johal. Born on July 23, 1918 in Jandiala, Punjab, India, he passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2003 in Port Alberni, BC surrounded by his family and friends. He was an Indo-Canadian pioneer who came to Canada with his father, Jawala Singh in 1934. Predeceased by his brother Mehnga Singh and sister Banti Kaur. He was deeply loved by his family and highly regarded by many friends a pillar of strength and source of inspiration to many. Karma never dwelled on problems but always looked to the future. He is survived by his wife Gurbachan Kaur, son Armarjit (Balwinder), son Surjit (Jinder), daughter Simro (Lloyd), nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 4th from the Chapel of Memories, 4005 - 6th Avenue, Port Alberni, with cremation following at the Sham Shan Bhoomi Crematorium on Saunders Road. KINSEY, Norma Jean (nee Hansen). It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Norma Kinsey on September 27, 2003. She was born on March 12, 1948 in Maniwaki, Quebec and moved to B.C. in 1967 where she resided most of the time in Surrey. She was predeceased by her father, John Hansen in 1989 and is survived by her husband Richard Downes; her mother Doris Hansen; her brothers, Neil Hansen (Jennifer) and Philip Hansen; her sisters, Fran Davies (Pat Chafe), Kathy Schell (Bob) and Sheila Maher (Dave); her four nieces; two nephews; one great-niece and four great-nephews. She is also survived by her long time best friends, Jane Smith and Evi Rossignol. Norma will be missed by all those who knew and loved her, most of all they will miss her sense of humor and kind heart. LAWRANCE, Ida Margaret (nee Hay) passed away peacefully on September 30, 2003. Predeceased by her husband John. She will be deeply missed by her son Drew (Carol); daughter, Glenys (Bob) and grandsons, Geoffrey and Ian. Ida was an exceptional wife, mother and grandmother who took pride in her Scottish heritage. Vivacious and compassionate, she had many valued friends. She and husband John, both Paul Harris Fellows, were active in the Duncan Rotary Club for many years. FOLEY (LEE), Fern. Born October 1, 1918 - November 16, 2003. Surrendered peacefully at Richmond Hospital. Having passed to those whose lives she touched. Her fundamental values, her spirit love, support, generosity, and her Irish charm and humour. Fern recently, joyfully recalled her youthful athleticism and love of tennis and hockey.
