GIRODAY, Dora Beatrice passed away peacefully on December 11th, 2003 at the age of 93 years. She is predeceased by her husband Jacques, 7 sisters and 3 brothers. She is survived by her loving children, Paul Joseph, Peter (Jacques), Richard (John); 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. A special thanks to the nursing staff at Burnaby Hospital and the Simon Fraser Homemakers. Prayers will be offered Sunday, December 14th at 5:00 p.m. from Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 525 S. Slocan Street, Vancouver where the Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 15th at 11:30 a.m. Fathers of St. Charles celebrant. Interment to follow at Ocean View Burial Park, Burnaby. GUNN, Gwyn February 27, 1921 - December 8, 2003 We will miss the twinkle in her eye, her compassion for and support of others, her keen intellect, her political interest and her lively stories. Gwyn loved travel, art, entertaining friends and family, and taking care of those in need. She spent 30 happy years working for CBC and cherished the friendships she made there. In her retirement she volunteered at the B.C. Cancer Agency Lodge and continued to support the NDP. People and fairness were always first with Gwyn and her dying wish was to KEEP THE PEACE MOVEMENT ALIVE. Many thanks to the staff of VGH 16th floor for all their caring for Gwyn. No service at Gwyn's request.

HAYES, Florence Catherine, age 99, passed away on December 8th, 2003 in Vancouver, B.C. Predeceased by her husband Raymond Frederick in 1968. Survived by her brother Neil Anderson of Chilliwack; her daughter Janet Poole and grandchildren Kenneth Poole and Catherine Hayes, all of Vancouver. Born on September 5th, 1904 in Morden, Manitoba and moved to Chilliwack in 1908. Married Raymond Frederick in 1930 and moved to Vancouver shortly thereafter. At her own request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
MacCARTHY, Hubert Reagh "Mac", born June 22, 1911, passed away on April 7, 2004. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his son Dermot, grandchildren Katherine and Ian, his nieces and nephews, and all the friends, colleagues and students whose lives he touched over his long life. Mac was sadly predeceased by his wife Ruth in 1976 and by his five brothers. Mac was a rancher during the depression and served in the army for six years before going to the University of B.C. and the University of California at Berkeley. He joined Agriculture Canada and worked for twenty years at the Vancouver Research Station on the UBC campus and as an adjunct professor at UB.C. After retirement he served as the Acting Director of the Master of Pest Management Program at Simon Fraser University and as the thesis editor and mentor to numerous graduate students there. The H.R.MacCarthy Lecture in Pest Management, held alternate years at UBC and SFU, celebrates his dedication to students. Mac will be remembered for his generosity, integrity, intelligence and wit. By his actions he left the world a better place. There will be a memorial ceremony held on Friday, April 30th at 2:00PM at the Unitarian Church of Vancouver, 949 West 49th Avenue at Oak Street.

MALONE, Anna Patricia passed away on April 22, 2004 at Evergreen House in North Vancouver, B.C. Pat was born in Vancouver on December 18, 1918. She was predeceased by her sisters Dorothy and Aileen. Survived by her nieces; Kathy (John) Armstrong of Newmarket, Ontario, Linda (Dave) Widenmaier of Scarborough, Ontario and Pat (Bruce) Gracie of Seagrave, Ontario. Her cousins, Dr. Bob (Pat) Young of Victoria, B.C. and Irene (Dr. Peter) Harris of Lethbridge, AB, as well as relatives in Ireland. Pat was a long time member of St. David's United Church, West Vancouver and enjoyed her many years of fellowship there. Special thanks to Joy Rodrigo for her many years of support and assistance, Jeannie Gratton for her gardening and housekeeping skills as well as the many others who helped Pat stay in her home on Southborough. This includes friends and neighbors and the caregivers from North Shore Home Support, Classic Caregivers and latterly the caring and competent staff at Evergreen House. McCULLOCH, Robert George September 23rd, 1913 - April 27th, 2004 Robert passed away peacefully at the Vancouver General Hospital and will be sadly missed by his loving wife Mary Anne and devoted family, son William McCulloch, daughter Carolyn Kingston (Barry) and step-daughters Claire Harcus (Ron) and Joanne Haramia and the many nieces and nephews of sister Ruth Bracken (Gordon) and late sister Eleanor Robson (Clayton) and grandchildren James Harcus, Christianne Campbell and Cathryn Greenwood. Robert's career included naval service in WWII (1941-1946) as Lieutenant Commander and a distinguished business and philanthropic career. He retired as Executive Vice-President and Director of Midland Doherty Securities. Robert was beloved by all who knew him. He had a capacity to make and keep lifelong friendships. He will be remembered for his generosity, tolerance, sincerity, sense of humour and deep respect for others. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4th at Canadian Memorial Church, 1806 West 15th Avenue, Vancouver. MORRISON, June Jacqueline, born June 16, 1925, passed away peacefully at Royal Columbian Hospital on April 24, 2004. Predeceased by infant daughter Dana Susan in 1952, June will be missed and lovingly remembered by her children, Maureen (John), Leslie, Douglas, Jane (Leroy) and Cameron (Shannon); her grandchildren, Dana (David), Brad (Heather), Kylie, Mark, Lindsey, Jacqueline, Tristan, Brianna and Evan; and her great-grandchildren, Jenna, Siri, Nick and Michelle. June will always be remembered for her indomitable spirit, her love for family and friends, her strong social convictions, and her many charitable endeavors. She worked tirelessly for the rights of women and her home was a welcome haven for anyone in need. Special thanks to the wonderful staff and to her many friends at Queens Park Hospital, as well as to Dr. Reybeka for his many years of care. SEIFERT, Victoria Elizabeth. Born in Prelate, Sask. on July 27th, 1934 passed away April 27th, 2004. Survived by her husband of 52 years, Thomas; son Tom Jr., daughter Karen and 2 grandchildren Annie and Erin. Predeceased by her daughter Gwen in 1973. She will be sadly missed by all that she touched. Her wish for a small family gathering will be honoured.
