DEWAR, Donald Iain Born July 23, 1917 in Glasgow, Scotland. Passed into God'd presence August 12, 2004, a long life well lived. Donald is survived by his wife of 64 years, Alice; 3 children, Iain (Joan), Heather Senges (Harry), Doreen McBride (Garth); 5 dearly loved grandchildren, Christine, Kathy, David, Rachel and Iain; 6 great-grandchildren. He was proud of all of them and they brought him much joy. Donald traveled the world with the British Merchant Marine, served in WWII as Flight Lieutenant in the RAF, and settled in Burnaby with his family in 1948. His work adventures were many and varied but he ended his career with the best on, as Long Term Care Administrator for Burnaby when that program was just beginning. His deep faith in God, his love of family, church and friends made Donald a man of strength and integrity. A Celebration of Donald's life will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2004 at 11:00 am at Bethany Baptist Church, 22680 Westminster Highway, Richmond. In lieu of flowers, donationscan be made to Bethany Baptist Church Building Fund.

FULLJAMES, Harry It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Harry on August 12, 2004 after a brave battle with lung cancer caused by exposure to asbestos in his career as a construction worker. Beloved husband of 54 years to wife Edie. Loving Father to Jo-Anne (Bob), David, Sandra (Richard), and Mary (Mike). Wonderful Grandpa to 5 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, 1 granddaughter-in-law, and 2 great- granddaughters. He will also be sadly missed by 3 sisters, 1 brother, many in-laws, nieces, nephews and dear friends. Memorial service will be held at First Memorial Services, 1505 Lillooet St., North Vancouver on August 23, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Burnaby Hospital (Palliative Care Unit) would be greatly appreciated.

CORRECTION GOUMANS, Peter, passed away peacefully at Surrey Memorial Hospital on August 13, 2004, after a courageous battle. Peter was born in Venray, Holland, on December 29, 1924. He is survived by his loving wife Betty of 57 years (married April 16, 1947); his children Peter (Mary), Gerry (Heather), Corry (Carol), Eppie (Jocelyne), Betty (Doug), Paul (Cheryl); 15 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren; his surviving sister, Nel (Cor Van Deworp); and sister-in-law Drein Goumans all from Holland; as well as many nieces and nephews from Holland and Canada. HALLDORSON, Arnold September 11, 1924 - August 13, 2004 Passed away suddenly. Survived by his loving wife Joyce of 52 years; 6 daughters and 2 sons, Aloma (Dennis), Dawn (Ken), Dean (Gail), Jamie (Mark), Denise (Gary), Arnie (Debbie), Ingrid (Pete), Lynne; and Pauline, his sister-in-law whom he raised. Also survived by 15 grandchildren. Arnie was a hard working man and in his younger years worked at three jobs to provide for his family. He was a fun loving guy and a musician who loved to entertain his friends and family at the place he loved best, " his home". A celebration of life will take place on Saturday August 21, 2004 at 4980 55 B Street, Ladner at 1:00 pm. " So if you are feeling the blues some night and kind of down in a rut, just jump in your car and bring your guitar and come down to Arnie's hut." We'll live amoung red roses in memory of you.

HASTINGS, Catherine Anne "Katie", born February 4, 1963, suddenly passed away at her home in Merritt on August 10, 2004. She is survived by her parents, Jim and Lil; sisters, Julie (Les) and Diane (Doug); brothers, Rick and Patrick (Karen); nieces and nephews, Amy (Grant), Tanya, Justin, Brandon, Alisha, Tyson; and one great-nephew, Ethan. You left us with an Angel beside you Now you're our Angel in Heaven. Cathy will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She will always be remembered in our hearts.

HOLM, Thorvald (Thor) Thor passed away peacefully while surrounded by family in the Princeton Hospital August 11th, 2004. Born June 16, 1933 in Preeceville, Saskatchewan, he moved to British Columbia in 1957 and lived throughout the Province. Thor retired from CN Rail and moved to Princeton, B.C., an area he always loved. He is survived and lovingly remembered by Beverley Holm; daughters, Janice Feeney (Mike), Joanne Coglon (Jacques), Lesley Bruun (Erik); sister Karen Johnson; brother-in-law Wally Kurtz; grandchildren, Derek and Jaclyn, extended family and dear friends. Thor will always be remembered for his kind and caring heart, his love of nature and animals, and his unique sense of humour. No service by request. Donations in Thor's memory may be made to the B.C. Wildlife Federation.

HURFORD, Margaret Patricia, born in Croydon, England, January 23, 1928, passed away from a lengthy illness with cancer on August 13, 2004 at Surrey Memorial Hospital. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years Leonard; three children Karen (Len), Janine (Bob), Ross; five grandchildren Nicole (Geoff), Kristyl (Jason), Jason, Clayton and Dylan. She loved to dance, sing her favorite songs, reminisce about the old days and be with her family and friends. She will be sadly missed. Many thanks to the extended care staff at Surrey Memorial Service to be held at Arbor Chapel, 14660 72nd Avenue, Surrey at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, August 19. Survived by his loving family, daughter Liz; son Merritt (Shelley); grandchildren Zachary and Lily; mother Bea of Huntsville, Ont.; nieces and nephews. HUTTON, Gordon Stanford, a long time Burnaby resident, passed on July 30, 2004. Predeceased by wife Agnes (Nancy) in April. Left to remember, sons, Keith (Judy), and Allen (Barbara), grandchildren, Jamie, Dawn, Samantha, Travis, Alysha, Bradley and Derek. Will be remembered as someone who always put family and friends and the community first. A service will be held at the New Vista Society, in the fireside lounge, at 7550 Rosewood Street, Burnaby, on August 17, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the New Vista Foundation.
GRAVES, Barbara Gwendolyn Rose (nee Fetterley) died peacefully in Royal Jubilee Hospital, Sept 4, 2004 age 69. Born May 1, 1935 in Stalwart, Sask. Daughter of Charles Fetterley and May Parker. She grew up on the family homestead in Imperial and later, in Victoria. Predeceased by several siblings and her infant daughter, Elizabeth Joan. She is survived by her daughters Lorraine (Michael), Kathy (Brian); grandchildren, Timothy and Angela; her cat, Sweetie; a daughter placed for adoption in November 1968, Diva, as well as a large supportive family of brothers and sisters. Her small community of friends helped her immeasurably. Mom was a gentle, loving soul who struggled most of her adult life with shyness and mental illness. Her creativity found many outlets including sewing. Mom's love of music was passed onto her daughters. It is her gentle, respectful way with children we will remember most. Service Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at 1 pm St. Peters Church, Glencairn Lane, Colwood, B.C.

HOWTON, Bruce Edward (Papa Bear) January 12, 1936 - September 3, 2004. Bruce lived his life with courage, honesty, integrating and a wonderful sense of humour. He maintained a positive outlook at all times and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Bruce is survived by his wife of 31 years, Lea; his daughters Sandi (Rob) Lora (Brad) Marie and Amanda; son Scott; grandaughters, Amanda, Michelle and ALexis; grandsons, Mathew and Nichols and other cherished friends and family. LeCHASSEUR, Annie 1921 - 2004 Annie passed away peacefully on September 7th, 2004 at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband Bill in 1983. Annie will be lovingly remembered by her children, Arthur and Joanne; 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn, Monica and Trudy, and brother Mark.
