FRAKES - John William. Passed away peacefully at Lions Gate Hospital at the age of 65 on August 21, 1997 after a brave 4 year battle with cancer. He will be sadly missed by his wife Anthea; sons Tony and David; daughters-in-law Jasna and Laurie; three grandchildren Natasha, Alexander and Krista; as well as his brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Jacqui, and many dear friends. John was born and raised in England. Upon completing an engineering degree at Loughborough College, he went to serve for 2 years in the British Army. Upon emigrating to Canada in 1967, John began his very successful career in the steel fabricating industry. John loved his work, especially the people with whom he worked. He continued as an active consultant in the industry in his last weeks. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 29 at 3:00 p.m. at Highlands United Church in Edgemont Village. SULL - Surain Singh (1928-1997)
Passed away unexpectedly on August 21, 1997, at Lions Gate Hospital, at the age of 69. Surain was a long-time resident of North Vancouver, arriving from India (Village Palahi, Punjab) at the age of 22 to join his father Jarnail Singh Sull and brother Tara. He worked in the forest and trucking industry for 42 years while nurturing a hobby in real estate. He was a prominent member and valuable contributor to many community services and concerns.
Surain's legacy is carried on in and thru his loving wife Parkash; son Mohinder (Baljit); daughters Surinder (Virinder), Sarjeet (John) and Jagjeet (Tejpaul); brother Tara; six grandchildren (Preet, Seetle, Jason, Shane, Rajan and Rajiv); and many close relatives and friends, all of whom are grateful for his eternal memories. He touched in a special way, all whom he knew.

ASHCROFT - John, North Vancouver. Born November 25, 1916, Sheffield England. Died August 18, 1997 at Lynn Valley Lodge, North Vancouver. Married Winifred Dyer, December 28, 1940. OVERGAARD - Ole Christopher. May 17, 1962 - August 16, 1997. Beloved first son of Patricia Overgaard; brother of Erik and Lisa; brother-in-law Tom; grandson of Irene (Wren) Venters; loyal friend Yogi Bear; his uncle and aunt Brian and Jean; his cousins Patty, Barbara, David, Eric, and to many special friends and relatives abroad and at home. Ole was taken from us suddenly while on his holidays, a short time after his 35th birthday. He was doing what he loved to do - exploring the outdoors. Ole lived in North Vancouver his whole life and he traveled the world, loving adventures in the outdoors. His kind spirit will be sorrowfully missed by us all, but now he rests with his Dad, who passed away last year. Predeceased by her husband Harry in 1963. She moved to West Vancouver in 1968. Mary is survived by her loving son Stuart and his wife Mary, also her beloved grandsons Kenneth (Palm Springs) and Paul (West Vancouver), relatives and friends. Mary was a member of the West Vancouver Lawn Bowling Club and travelled extensively. Mary lead an active life helping others and always looked for the bright side. HUESTIS - Mary Elizabeth died at Inglewood Care Centre in her 91st year on Sunday, August 3, 1997. Wife of the late Colonel R. Douglas Huestis. She is survived by his children Dr. Douglas W. Huestis, Peggy Huestis Kearns and Joan Huestis Foster. No services. The kind and thoughtful care given by the Inglewood staff has been incredible and simply can not be overstated.
