BITTS - Barbara Ellen (nee MacKenzie R.N. P.N.P.) passed away peacefully at her parent's home among loving family and friends present. Barbara is survived by her loving son Matthew, parents Ken and Audrey MacKenzie, loving sister Jacquie Lyth, special nephew Jeffrey Lyth (Anna), grandmother Mary MacKenzie, cousins, aunts and uncles. Barbara is a graduate of V.G.H. and received her P.N.P. at University of Washington where she lived and nursed for ten years. Barbara has been nursing at Children's Hospital in special care nursery and later in Neo Natal follow up program for 16 years. Thank you to her friends Loreen, Shelia, Ruth, Angela, Phileppa who lovingly nursed and cared for her. The family is most grateful for their kindness. Barbara was a very caring, loving, gentle person. We will miss her forever. Memorial Service at First Memorial Services, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver on Friday, July 18 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice.

HANNA - Brendon William. Passed away in the North Country that he loved. Brendon will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his mother Mona, her companion Allan, fiancee Joan, brother Gary, sister Kathy (Grant), nieces and nephew Heather, Michael and Allison and his uncles, aunts and cousins in Northern Ireland and Alberta. Brendon was predeceased by his father in 1969. The family wishes to thank Brendon's many good friends for their kind support at this time of sadness. A funeral Service will be held 12:00 noon, Saturday, July 19, 1997 at Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver. GOERES - Claire passed away peacefully on July 2, 1997 at Lions Gate Hospital, aged 87. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Jo (Louis); granddaughter Ceri (Cal); grandson David (Sherri); son-in-law David Sr; sister Marie Walters and much loved great-granddaughters Kirsten and Samantha. Happy memories of "Nana" were shared at a gathering of family and friends on July 7, 1997. Cremation. Interment to take place at Capilano View Cemetery at a later date. We will all live on with her strength and love guiding us each day.

KETTNER - Mary (nee Winsor). Passed away on July 11, 1997 at the Lions Gate Hospital. Predeceased by her father Albert Winsor, sister Margaret Cote, granddaughter Georgina, great-grandchildren Daisha and Austin. Survived by her husband Ed; mother Mary Winsor; brother Donald Winsor; daughters Sharon Bowen, Molly Moore, Kelly Jodoyn; sons Donald and Robert Zawasky, John, Bill and Philip Jodoyn; 17 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Memorial service on Saturday July 19, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. in Mount Seymour United Church, 1200 Parkgate Avenue, North Vancouver. Cremation. Flowers gratefully declined in favour of memorial contributions to the Lions Gate Hospital Children's Ward. The family wish to extend their heart felt appreciation to the Lions Gate Hospital Staff for their care and support.

LEWIS - On July 11, 1997 Gordon Warren Lewis of Squamish, age 35. Predeceased by grandparents Jacob Louie, Charlotte Baker, Elizabeth Rush Gallic and Norman Rush; brother Brian James; sisters Alice Lorraine and Laurie Lynne. Survived, and will be sadly missed, by parents Allen Francis Louie (Pa-quay-lum) and Elizabeth Lewis (Mo-ha-qwith); brothers Allen Jacob (Pa-quay-lum), William Douglas, Randall Wayne and sisters Vivian Irma Jacob (Gibby), Cynthia Margaret Guss (Calvin), Linda Charlotte Williams (Kelvin), Eileen Sylvia Jacobs (Russell Jr.), Francine Pauline Cooper (Peter) and Mary Martha Lewis (Larry Jr.); many, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. Prayers were offered on Monday July 14, 1997 at 7:00 p.m. at the Totem Hall, Stawamus Reserve. Followed by funeral service on Tuesday July 15, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, 1851 Mamquam Road, Squamish B.C. Interment Cheekeye Reserve Cemetery. Eugene Harry Officiate. Hinds Funeral and Memorial Services in care of arrangements.

NORTHCOTT - Kerry Lee. Passed away suddenly July 9, 1997 at the the age of 43 years. Predeceased by his mother Teresa in 1996. Survived by his loving wife Janet of 18 years and daughter Jody; father Ivan; brothers Iven, Gary, Robin, Mike; sister Darline, and numerous relatives and friends. Kerry Lee will always be remembered as a wonderful brother and a loving companion. No service by request. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Clinic UBC.

RADA - Edy. Born in Vienna, Austria on September 13, 1922. Passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 13, 1997 in North Vancouver, B.C. Beloved husband of Beverley; survived by his son Marcel Rada and his daughter Nicolette Larrabee (Seth); his sister Gretl Vetricek. Edy was an accomplished figure skater and coach, he was Austrian Champion from 1939-1949, Olympic Bronze Medalist in 1948, European Champion in 1949, professional skating instructor for over 40 years in Vancouver and on the North Shore. A memorial service will be held at St Martin's Anglican Church, 195 East Windsor Road, North Vancouver on Wednesday July 23, 1997 at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the B.C. Heart and Stroke Foundation.

TREAGUS - Reginald William (Reg), born in Petersfield, Hampshire, England on February 16, 1908. Passed away peacefully on Friday, July 11, 1997 at Lions Gate Hospital, North Vancouver. Survived by his wife Elsie; his daughter Anne and her husband John Barbour; grandchildren Stephen, Nick and Meredith; great-grandchildren Ben and Joshua. A memorial service was held on July 15, 1997. Special thanks to the Kiwanis Care Home, Lynn Manor and the nurses on 7 East at Lion's Gate Hospital.

WELSFORD - Helen. Passed away peacefully on July 11, 1997 at the age of 77. Predeceased by her husband Charlie in 1991. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she is survived by her 3 daughters Carolyn (George, predeceased) Mulek, Edmonton, Barbara (Wendel) Mayer, North Vancouver, Wanda (companion Keith Biglow) Burgermeister, Squamish; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren. Special thanks to the Palliative Care staff and volunteers at Lions Gate Hospital for their love and care given to our dear Mother. There will be no memorial service. Flowers declined. GARDNER - Agnes Maude, late of North Vancouver. Born October 12, 1914, passed away July 15, 1997 at Chilliwack Hospital. Predeceased by her husband Charlie. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her brother Henry (Jean) Botting; daughters Grace (Don) and Gail (Doug); eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Born and raised in North Vancouver, a longtime Woodward's and Gold's Drapery employee, she retired to the Fraser Valley to tend her gardens, read, do crossword puzzles and to knit and crochet. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 21, in the Chapel of First Memorial Funeral Services, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory, to the Chilliwack Hospital Foundation would be appreciated, in thanks for the loving care that Agnes received. HOPEN - Helen Mary, died July 2, 1997 in North Vancouver. She was born on April 11, 1916 in Halkirk, Alberta and married Einar Hopen on June 7, 1958. Prior to her marriage, she managed the Rougemont Apts in Vancouver and continued in that position for several years afterward. From 1968 - 1977, Mr and Mrs Hopen owned a home in the south end of Vancouver. When Mr Hopen retired in 1977, they moved to an apartment in North Vancouver. Her experience as a manager served her well in the role of homemaker for her 39 years of marriage. She is survived by her husband Einar of North Vancouver; sister Evelyn Vorath of North Vancouver; two brothers Bob and Bud Shattock and a sister Irene Harvard of Vermillion, Alberta; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers Ken and Wilfred Shattock. Memorial Service will be held in the Centennial Branch of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3333 Kaslo St, Vancouver on July 20, 1997 at 12:00 noon.

HUGHES - Janet Isabel suddenly and tragically on July 15, 1997 at age 56 years. Will be lovingly remembered by husband Barry; children Gillian and Geoffrey; grandson John, and brother Douglas Colquhoun (Marj) of Toronto. Also many nieces and nephews. Service on Monday, July 21 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Francis-In-The Wood Church, 4773 South Piccadilly Road, West Vancouver. Jan would have appreciated donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Breast Cancer Research in lieu of flowers.

JENSEN - On July 14, 1997. Cynthia Marilyn Jensen of North Vancouver, age 55 years. Predeceased by grandparents Moses and Sarah Antone; Edward and Margaret Nahanee; brothers Roger Antone, Mark and Ronald Nahanee; son Robert Jensen. Survived by parents Arnold and Violet Nahanee; husband Howard Jensen; sons Howard and Arnold; daughter Denise Jensen; godchild Anastasia; brothers Donald, Ken and Edward Nahanee; sisters Vikki Kyle, Judy Stewart, Sarah Moody and Linda Houghton; many other relatives and dear friends. Prayers were offered at the home of Violet and Arnold Nahanee, 198 Bewicke Avenue, North Vancouver, followed by Funeral Mass Friday, July 18 at 10:30 a.m. in St Paul's Catholic Church, North Vancouver. NITCHIE - Henry George (Hank). Retired Firefighter with North Vancouver (29 years). He was fantastic and wonderful, so says his wife. He loved children and flowers and kept a beautiful rose garden. Hank had many friends and was well liked by everybody. Hank is survived by his wife Lynne of 32 years; children Sandra (Archie) Stewart of Calgary, Ronald (Shirley) of Williams Lake, B.C., Kathleen (Chris) Perrigard of North Vancouver, Gary (Ann) of Surrey B.C., Donna (Jim) Tribe of Calgary, Mike (Liz) Hendricks of Port Moody; 23 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother Stan (Evelyn) Nitchie of Armstrong, B.C. and many nieces, nephews and friends. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, July 19, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Henderson's Funeral Home, 20786 Fraser Highway (at 208th Street) Langley, B.C. REED - Robert John passed away peacefully in his home Monday, July 14, 1997. He left a wonderful legacy of love, kindness, wisdom and great humour. He will be deeply missed by many, especially his loving wife Molly, his son Steve (Sue), daughter Carole (Jim), six grandchildren, mother Doris, brothers Ken and George and their families. Bob brought a lifelong passion for sports together with his business in supporting both professional and amateur sport in B.C.
