EDWARDS, Jean Jacqueline (nee Terrien). Passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 24, 2000, age 74. She will be deeply missed by loving daughter Margaret Schulz, sister Heather (Bill), brother Vic, niece Gail (Eugene), sister-in-law Annette, and their families. Predeceased by her dear brother Jim. Jean is fondly remembered for her great love of life and sense of fun. She will be greatly missed by her fellow teacher and friend Sheri (Charles), and is remembered by her colleagues as a dedicated elementary school teacher in North Vancouver, Victoria and Powell River. FREND, Olga Amanda July 4, 1915 - February 17, 2000. Peacefully at Lions Gate Hospital. Predeceased by her husband George, August 16, 1994. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her son Norman (Linda); grandchildren Kelly (Alan), Ridder, Glen and Jillian; great-grandchildren Mikaela, Anaesha and Gabriel; sister Sally Neville; brother Alf (Rosie) Myhre; sister-in-law Irene Myhre; brother-in-law Joe Egan; and nieces, nephews and friends. TOWNLEY, Desmond Alan passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side, February 24, 2000 at the age of 71 after a long battle with cancer. Des will be greatly missed by his wife Rosemary; children Jennifer, Anne (Kel), David (Kim), John (Jackie); grandchildren Jesse, Joshua, Jody, Kimberley, Sarah, Sierra, Desirae, Tashi, Shey; and nephews Robert, Keith and Clive (Jocelyn). Des was employed for 42 years in the employee benefit business having his own company. Born in Northern Ireland, Des was an avid rugby player and golfer. He was a lieutenant in the British Army and served in Europe in a tank regiment in WWII. Des was a devoted husband and father and enjoyed many years of camping and coaching sports with his children. During retirement, Des and Rosemary spent many weeks travelling via motorhome, plane and boat. For his family and friends this place will never be the same without him. The family would like to thank the West Vancouver Home Care system, especially Norma and Faye for their devoted support. A memorial service to celebrate Des's life will be held March 3, 2000 at 2:00 pm at First Memorial Boal Chapel in North Vancouver. In lieu of flowers donations to the B.C. CHAPMAN, Isabel (nee Harrison). Born April 23, 1906. Died on Ash Wednesday, March 8, 2000. Her heart was filled with peace, love and gratitude to all who touched her life. It is her dearest wish that we remember her but do not mourn her passing; she has said repeatedly that she has had a wonderful, long and fulfilling life. She lived and died in absolute faith and trust in the love of Christ. Her family would like to thank her many wonderful friends who gave her so much joy and purpose for living after her beloved Frank died in 1973. She will be remembered and cherished by her loving family Eileen, Dominic, Alanna, Rebekah and Emmanuel, Kyle, Colin Craig, Paige, Lucas, Jaimie and Nicole. DOBBIN - Margaret Beryl (nee Peletier). Born July 3, 1921 in Liverpool England. Passed away peacefully on March 3, 2000 in hospital in North Vancouver. A WAAF and war bride, Beryl came to Canada in 1946. For years she assumed she automatically became a Canadian citizen by virture of her marriage and when she learned otherwise, in typical "British Clipper Ship in full sail" fashion, formally took out citizenship in the country she loved and believed had been very good to her. She is survived by her loving family, husband Ian; son John and wife Catherine; daughter Melanie Osborne and grandchildren Kim, Liz, John and Jay. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she had a 55 year conversation with Ian and a 78 year conversation with life. Cremation. No service by her request. The family gratefully declines flowers. MANSELL - Dennis Martin. Born August 17, 1918, London, England. Passed on to his next adventure on March 2, 2000 in North Vancouver, B.C. Denny will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his mate and loving companion Ann Cox and his only daughter Denise (Bodnar) and Ann's daughters Janet and Leslie Cox. Family Henry Mansell, Roy Mansell, Grace (Upfold) and Shirley Mansell of St. Thomas, Ontario, as well as friend Don Craig and many friends at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 118 mourn Denny's passing. Denny was decorated and served eight years overseas in WWII and will always be remembered for his sense of humour, love of life and strong character. WEBBER, Vera Mary. August 9, 1923 - March 4, 2000. Passed away peacefully last Saturday evening. Vera is survived by her partner, Erik Hjorth and by her children, Sue, Dave, Marc, Steve and Barb; also by their respective partners. She leaves nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Vera will also be missed by all those with whom she played golf and bridge, and by all her friends at North Vancouver City Hall. JONES, William Basil Jones. Passed away March 1, 2000 in Kamloops, B.C. He was predeceased by his wife Sue in November, 1999. He is survived by his daughter Cora and son Fred and family. Sue and Bill were longtime North Vancouver residents. Bill worked in the ship yard during the war and then at the garage on Third and Lonsdale until retirement in 1974.
