FAULAFER - Walter Dan Faulafer. Born September 9, 1908 in Ft. Saskatchewan, Alberta. Passed away peacefully on June 7, 2000 at St. Mary's Hospital, Sechelt, B.C. Survived by his loving daughters, Wendie Kottmeier (Hans) and Dianne Wells Ledingham (Bruce Ledingham); his grandchildren Monica Bennett (Trevor), Karl Eric Kottmeier (girlfriend Nikki Jewell), Krister Kottmeier (Lucia), Kristi Wells, Stephanie Stone (James), Angela Wells and great-grandson Malcolm Wells Watson. Walter served overseas in W.W.II with the Canadian Army, followed by a career in finance and accounting in Vancouver. For many years he was an active member of the Board of Trade and the Downtown YMCA. He enjoyed politics and was instrumental in the formation of West Vancouver Municipal Affairs. He retired to the Sunshine Coast where he loved fishing, playing golf and sharing his home with family and friends. We will remember Dad for his marvellous sense of humour. A memorial service to celebrate his life will take place on Thursday, July 6, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at St. David's United Church, Taylor Way &Upper Levels Highway, West Vancouver.
MOYLE - Barbara Ryland of West Vancouver. Born February 18, 1924 in Birmingham, England. Passed away peacefully at Lions Gate Hospital, June 10, 2000. Survived by her children Lesley Barbara Moyle and John Robert Moyle. Our gracious and gentle Ma will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by Dr. Young, her extended family Robin, Laszio, Bryan, Leslie, Andrew and her many loving friends. KENNEDY - Liva Mary. Liva passed away peacefully recently at the age of 95. She was predeceased by her dear husband, Alan, in 1971. She is survived by her beloved son Thomas (Kathleen); her adored grandchildren Graeme and Megan (Shane), as well as her darling great-granddaughter Madelyn. She also leaves two brothers, Leo and Rolland Martin and numerous nieces and nephews. Many thanks to Dr. Doug McTaggart, the staff at Lynn Valley Lodge, and Fr. PHILLIPS - Doris Esther (Martin) Mother and Grandmother Passed away peacefully, June 25, 2000 after a short illness. Born in 1916, Doris was a long time West Vancouver resident. In 1942 she married Jack Phillips, who died in service in the Canadian Army in 1945. Doris worked in the West Vancouver Municipal Hall and later for the West Vancouver School Board until retirement. She will be missed by her family, son David, his wife Judy, and her beloved grandchildren Marjorie, Jeremy and Katie; her niece Beth and husband Colin, children Brent and Robin (Wendy); her cousin Essie; and her many dear friends. DOUGHTY - Jessica Joyce, November 22, 1985 - June 22, 2000. Suddenly, but peacefully, at B.C. Children's Hospital with her family at her side, after a lifetime challenged by Friedreich's Ataxia. Predeceased by her faithful companion Spike. Lovingly remembered and survived by her parents Michael and Vickie Doughty, grandparents Jim and Pat McCurrach, George Petrescue (honorary), Steph Doughty, aunts and uncles, Kathleen and Leigh Barrett, Rob McCurrach and Daphne Gagnon, Susan and John Harley, Brenda and Hans Opelka (honorary), Susan Ernst, Rich and Karen Doughty, Doug Doughty and Brenda Doughty; cousins Meghan and Allison Harley, Jamie, Kevin and Jonathon McCurrach (their mother Robbin), Jason and Simon Gagnon, Brad Pearce, Ryan and Jordan Doughty, Amanda and Rebecca Doughty, and Kelly Doughty. Special friends Lindsay, Manpreet and Jamie. Jessica also leaves many friends too numerous to acknowledge here, including those of the animal kingdom. Jessica would not allow her physical limitations to prevent her from participating in a wide variety of activities including baseball, swimming, horseback riding, fishing, arts and crafts, gardening, and most recently, wheelchair soccer. She also worked her way through the Girl Guide Programme, and on June 4, 2000 was presented with her Canada Cord. In her "spare time" Jessica was a voracious reader. Jessica attended Rainbow Preschool, Renfrew Elementary, Nootka Elementary, and had just completed Grade Nine at John Oliver Secondary where she achieved Honour Roll status. AUSTEN - Alexander Albert Major (Ret.) M.B.E. Passed away June 22, 2000. Alec was a charter member of the Eighth Army - (Desert Rats), and was posted, in 1943, to the British War Office. He immigrated to Canada in 1953. Predeceased by his loving wife Elsie in 1988. PRUDEN - Allan Frank went to his rest in the arms of the Lord at the age of 59 years, after a brave battle with cancer. He was born on March 5, 1941 and died on June 24, 2000 - beginning and ending his days in North Vancouver, B.C. Allan is survived by Linda, his loving wife of 33 years; their children, Andree Tomlinson, Michelle Watts, and Kirk Pruden; six grandchildren; his sister Judie Whitby; as well as many friends and family. CAPT. W. NORMAN SCOTT Master Mariner. Died 10:00 a.m. June 27, 2000, born July 13, 1920 in Edinburgh, Scotland. Norman's love of the sea was from childhood. He joined the Merchant Navy at age 16 on the Scottish ship Gregalia, achieving his Masters ticket at 26 on the Fort Yukon and the Lake Shawnigan. JARDINE - James Kinnard, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 17, 2000 at the age of 84. Born and raised near Collingwood, Ontario on December 25, 1915, he was a long time North Shore resident. Jim was a Flight Lieutenant during WWII attached to 625 RAF Squadron and received the DFC. He retired after a long career in pharmaceutical sales with Mead Johnson Co. in Ontario, and B.C. Jim will be lovingly remembered by Enda, his wife of 57 years, and his sister Margaret of Collingwood, Ontario. A devoted father and grandfather, Jim will be greatly missed by his children, Pat (Eric), Katherine (Jonathan), James (Margaret), Don (Jane), Margot (Malcolm), his 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. WRIGHT, Willena Betty. Born February 6, 1916 in North Vancouver. Passed away peacefully June 22, 2000 at Nanaimo Hospital. Predeceased by her first husband Bill Guinn in 1981. Survived by her loving husband Burton, daughters Colleen Lewis (Glenn) and Marybeth Lavender (Ted Walter) grandchildren, Jennifer, Christopher, James and Paul, great-grandchildren Sarah, Zachery and Alexandra, Burton's son Mike (Barb) and daughter Mary-Ann (Del) Germyn, his five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Smith family who were early pioneers in North Vancouver, and a member of St. Andrews United Church. She graduated from North Vancouver High School, and spent many years teaching piano there before she moved to Nanoose Bay in 1974 and then later into Parksville where she enjoyed her carpet bowling and bingo nights. She was an avid knitter and quilter and enjoyed her garden. There will be a celebration of her life at Nanoose Place, 2925 North West Bay Rd. Nanoose on Wednesday June 27 at 2 pm.
