Long - John Fredrick James, passed away December 20, 2000 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. John was born January 27, 1947 - died at the age of 53. He is predeceased by his parents Margaret and Elmer Long. He leaves behind brothers Brian, Bob (Shirley), sisters Sharon (Ian), Patti, Denise. John had 3 children, Christine, Julie and Richard, 6 grandchildren, 2 great nieces. Also many nieces and nephews who will sadly miss his laughter along with many friends. Peacefully on December 26, 2000 James (Jim) Arthur McLennan of Squamish aged 67 years. He is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Anita Williams of Squamish, Kim (Harry) Semenya of Evansburg, Alberta. Sons Ralph (Cathy) McLennan of North Vancouver, Darryl McLennon of Squamish, his three sisters Barb, Pat, Erlen, brother Len. Grandchildren Jason, Trevor, Krystal, Raymond, Aaron, Taylor, Travis, Makita. Great-grandchildren Daniel, Grace and by his many dear friends. Jim loved watching his grandchildren play baseball. He spent many days at the ballfield offering his opinions and encouragement. Predeceased by her sister, Merna Gates, and her nephews Ken Kyllo and Glenn Kyllo; survived by her sister Edith Kyllo of Fort St. John, Lovette Kyllo of Hudson's, Hope, (wife of Ken Kyllo), nephews David (Margaret) Kyllo of Hudson's, Hope, Martin (Myrtle) Kyllo of Salmon Arm, numerous nieces and nephews, and her faithful friend Isabel Evans. Emsland - Emily May
May passed away on December 1st, 2001 at home. Born in Abbotsford, B.C. on July 16, 1918, she is predeceased by her parents, Tom and Ethel Jones of New Westminster; two brothers, Thomas George Jones and Robert Donald Jones, and also by her first husband, Ernest Shaw, in 1977 and her second, Alan Emsland, in 1997. She is survived by five children; Donald Shaw and Margaret, Brian Shaw and Gina Walther, Pamela Shaw and Stan Masse, Delle Booth and Chris Jenkins, and Diane and Edwin Bryant. Emily leaves nine beloved grandchildren, a nephew, Robert Jones of Saskatoon and a niece, Terri Lee Barker of Kelowna. She will be sadly missed by her great friend, Joe Mulhern. Ernie and Emily came to Squamish in 1962, when Ernie became office manager of the lumber mill, Canadian Collieries, soon to be Weldwood, now Interfor. Emily was a secretary, employed part-time by the Logging Division and then full time by School District 48, first at Brackendale Elementary, and then as secretary to District Superintendent Harry Cullis, until her retirement. Ernie and Emily were charter members of the Squamish Valley Golf and Country Club, and of the Curling Club. The Centennial Committee erecting the Information Booth on Highway 99 at Clarke Drive was due to her initiative. Emily served on the founding Board of the Eagle Grove Seniors' Housing Project, where she resided. She was a member of the Anglican Church Women, under whose auspices she began the Shopping Cart Service at Hilltop House, which continues still. She was currently treasurer of the ACW, who will host the reception following the funeral service at St. John the Divine Church, 1930 Diamond Road, Garibaldi Highlands on Saturday, December 8th, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. The Rev. John Stephens will officiate. Squamish Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements. Interment will be in Mt. Garibaldi Cemetery.
