Bright, Pearl
Pearl Bright ( nee Cherniwchan ) of Creston passed away on May 26, 2011 in Creston Valley Hospital at the age of 88 years.
Pearl was born January 21, 1923 in Bellis Alberta and was educated in Dickie Bush.
She met Lester Bright at Ponoka, Alberta, where they were married on February 6, 1945. The couple moved to Whitelaw, AB, where they farmed and their son Wayne was born in December 1948. Pearl also worked as a cook in rig camps. In 1968 they moved to St. Paul, Alberta, where she worked as a matron in a Seniors facility and in 1977 Les and Pearl moved to Creston to retire. Pearl went back to work in 1979 at Swan Valley Lodge as a care aid until her retirement in 1988.
She was always busy as she had to make “the day pay”.
Her passion was her flower and vegetable garden and she spent many hours keeping it weed free. She enjoyed giving away the fruits of her labour. She also spent time crocheting, knitting, quilting and a variety of other crafts. She also enjoyed playing dominoes with the group Thursday night.
She was a member of the Legion Ladies Auxillary and was always willing to give a helping hand when called upon.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lester in 1991, her grandson Trent in 2007, sister Irene and her parents John and Lena Cherniwchan.
She is survived by her son Wayne (Diane), grandson Blaine (Melanie) great-grandson Cole. She is also survived by her brother Jeff (Louise) Wade, 3 nephews and their families and also numerous friends and other relatives.
A Celebration of Pearls life will be held at a later date.
Interment of her ashes will be held at Whitelaw, Alberta at a later date.

John (Jack) David Harringa
March 29, 1919 – April 30, 2011
John David (Jack) Harringa was born in Edmonton, Alberta on March 29, 1919 to Simon and Christina Harringa. He was a loving brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He completed high school and went onto college before enlisting in the Air force. After returning from the war he settled in Creston as the Manager of the local Creamery. He married Laurel Keirn in 1947 and they were blessed with three sons. He worked tirelessly for his family and dedicated himself to service in the community. He had a long and rewarding career with Columbia Brewery as the Brewing Supervisor.
He retired to Kootenay Lake; living in the home he built at Twin Bays. His retirement years were filled with his many interests; carpentry, gardening, reading, enjoying birds, wildlife, and the beautiful scenery.
He was active in the Shrine Club for more than sixty years, having served as President & Deputy District Grand Master. He was an avid supporter of Minor Hockey, clocking countless Rep Team miles as well as spearheading many fundraisers.
Jack was a true gentleman; he will always be remembered for his warm hospitality, kind and gentle nature, strength and determination.
Jack was predeceased by his wife Laurel (Keirn) Harringa, parents, Simon & Christina; brothers; Inty & Herman Harringa, sisters; Anne Wouters, Tena Leonard, Jen Mayan, & Reka Tenpas.
He is survived by sons; David (RaeAnn), Donald (Denise), Dan (Carolyn); grandchildren Kathryn (Ervin) Sommerfeld, Mark (Jody), Dean (Tammy), Denny, Jonathan (Connie), Contara-Jae, & Shelby Harringa. great-grandchildren, Christina & John Sommerfeld, EveLena, Patrick, Samantha, Hunter, Reid & Taylor Harringa. Sisters Eve Harringa & Nel Nelson; nieces & nephews.

Ernie Leroux
April 5, 1924 – May 12, 2011
Ernie passed away with his family by his side on May 12, 2011 in the Nelson Hospital after at battle with cancer at the age of 87 years.
Ernie was born to parents Emma and George Leroux on April 5, 1924 in Wainwright, AB. He moved at an early age with his family to Royalties, AB.
He worked in the Turner Valley Oil Fields before and after he served with the Navy overseas.
Ernie moved to Creston in August 1954, he worked as an engineer at the hospital and he was employed by Taks. Later on he formed a partnership in Western Plumbing and Heating with Hap Smith and Wes Hughes. The Columbia Brewery also employed him for many years.
He loved camping, playing cards, square dancing and social dancing.
Ernie was a Charter member of the Elks Lodge and became the district deputy.
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Hazel; daughters Linda (Grant) Romano, Sandi (Ed) Barton, Barb (Hanna); son Roger (Sigrid) Leroux; sisters Marie Mach, Jean (Maurice) Reshaug; brother Maurice (Marie) Leroux; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Ernie was predeceased by his parents Emma and George Leroux; sisters Stella, Helen and Lauretta; brothers Henry, Roger, George, Leonard and Richard.
In accordance with Ernie’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.

Taylor, Faye
Faye Elaine Taylor (nee Mooljelsky) passed away Wednesday May 11th, 2011 at the Creston Valley Hospital with family by her side.
Faye was born on December 13, 1932 in Kamsack, Saskatchewan.
She married Ivan Taylor on May 4, 1952 in Kamsack, Saskatchewan and continued to live there with their three children until 1960. Then they moved to The Pas, Manitoba where Faye attended Kiewatin College. After completing her schooling, she had numerous positions as a controller purchaser. Faye was a Scouts Canada Leader and a member of the United Church. She was also a horticulturist and loved gardening, Canoeing and fishing at the family cabin on Clearwater Lake in Manitoba.
Faye and Ivan retired to a hobby farm in Shoreacres, B.C. in 1976.
Faye lived the last fourteen years in the Creston Valley, where she gardened and was an avid bridge and crib player.
Faye was predeceased by Ivan Taylor and her parents.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Linda Taylor of Cavendish, Newfoundland; sons Danny Taylor of The Pas, Manitoba and Kim (Marilyn) Taylor of Yorkton, Saskatchewan; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother Jim Moojelsky; sisters Carol (Steve) Manziuk and Lisa (Lorne) Evans and her aunt Helen Stefura .
A Celebration of Life Service to be held on Sunday May 29, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church with Pastor Ian Cotton officiating. Interment of Ashes to take place at a later date in Kamsack, Saskatchewan.

Polzin, Olive Ella
Olive Ella Polzin ( nee Pilkey ) passed away May 8th, 2011 at her Crestview Village resident at the age of 93 years.
She was born to Sara and William Pilkey at the family home in Waterford, Ontario on November 26th, 1917.
Predeceased by children Ray, Patty and Sheryl. Olive will be dearly missed by her family, children Ron, Delores, Carol and Linda and their spouses, fourteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and 10 great, great-grandchildren.
A private family interment took place at the Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erickson, B.C. on Wednesday May 11th, 2011 at 1:30 with a Celebration of Life following at 2:00 pm at the Valley View Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Friesen officiating.
