Everett, Vincent Henry Hugh Saturday, 08 Dec 2007
Courtenay, BC
June 22, 1920 - December 8, 2007
Vince was born in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Comox, the youngest of four brothers. Growing up on the banks of the Courtenay River, he enjoyed the best of the Comox Valley - boating, fishing, hunting, baseball and skiing Mt. Becher. After High School Vince worked at Cyril Burns Garage, until enlisting in the RCAF. He spent five years as a Flight Instructor on the prairies in the British Commonwealth Air Training Program flying Tiger Moths, Harvards, and Ansons, and with Coastal Command (Atlantic).
In 1947 Vince met Kathleen Pickering, RN and on May 23, 1949 they were married in St. Peter’s, Comox. They built their 17th Street home on the Courtenay River downstream of the Everett family home. In 1946 Vince partnered with Jack Dingwall in the Courtenay Machine Shop on 8th St. Over the next thirty years they designed and built “A” frames, spar trees, EE-ZEE self loading trucks, trailer bunks, boom boats, and equipment for logging companies big and small throughout the B.C. Coast and Queen Charlotte Islands. They also operated Wolf Lake Logging and Wolf Lake Salvage Ltd.
Retirement allowed for more time boating and traveling with Kay and their many friends. A patient, considerate man always looking on the bright side, Vince provided a wonderful home life for his family. He was devoted to Kay and they enjoyed 55 treasured years of marriage in the Valley. Vince was well respected and his word was his bond. Dad was polite to a fault and ever a Gentleman, tipping his hat to the ladies.
For close to 65 years a member of Hiram Masonic Lodge #14, Courtenay, serving as Past Master of Hiram and District Deputy Grand Master for District #22 of the Grand Lodge of B.C. and Yukon, and was a member of Branch 17, Royal Canadian Legion, Courtenay.
Vince enjoyed his daily bike ride but recent surgery was followed by major heart problems and he passed away in St. Joseph’s with his family at his side. Predeceased by his beloved wife Kay (2004) and brothers Frank (Muriel), Edwin (Laura), and Stan. Left to remember him are his son Len (Pat), daughters Kathy Everett and Joan (Kevin) Dryden, five grandchildren (of whom he was extremely proud) James, Thomas, Joanna, Daniel and Richard, and many relatives. Dad we know you are with Mom, the love of your life.

Jager, Ko (Aafko) Tuesday, 04 Dec 2007
Courtenay, BC
September 6, 1925 ~ December 4, 2007
Born in Arnheim, Holland, he immigrated to Canada in 1953, where he was joined by Addie later in the year. They were married in Cranbrook and then settled in Victoria, B.C. Then followed the move to Campbell River, where they began their family. Over the years Ko owned a jewelry store, worked at the Elk Falls Mill, and then as a custodian for School District 72. He loved his clock repair. His spare time would find him in his little workshop busy with the clocks. He and Addie loved their dogs, cats and family. They enjoyed walks on stormy day beaches, and family outings. Nothing pleased Ko more than a friend or family member over for a chat, game of chess or cards and a good cup of coffee. He spent his last four years in Kelowna, and now he has returned to Addie’s side in Heaven.
He is loved and missed by sons Martin (Sheila), George (Trish), Rick (Debbie), Harold, daughter Marianne Wong (Caleb), sisters Wya Olenchuck of Kelowna, Yopi Taylor (Alec), grandchildren Matthew, Christopher, Levon, Vanessa, Joshua, Robson, Dakota and Kimi, with many long time family friends.
A Celebration of Ko’s life will be held on December 22nd from 1-3 pm at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Simms Road, Campbell River. No flowers at the family’s request. Donations to the Campbell River Hospital Foundation in Ko’s name appreciated.

Bernard and Myrtle parted ways and she followed her dreams to live by the ocean and she eventually moved to Victoria. She married Ed Alexander (deceased November 1976). After Ed's death, Myrtle set out to see the world and she made a trip to the East Coast where she married Roger DeArburn (deceased December 2007) and lived in Victoria until 1979. She moved to Comox. She gave Betty and Bernice the gift of live. She believed that the best gift she could give us girl's was to live by the golden rule and be independent. Her favourite saying when we asked for advice was, "Let your conscience be your guide." We thank her for tender care and unconditional love.
We thank the "Angels" at the Cumberland Lodge for their kindness, care and compassion that they gave our Mother over the past 3 years. We thank Dr. Woldnik for his guidance and his caring attitude.
