Jake is also survived by his siblings; Carolyn, Summer, Joe, Natalie, Brady and Jeffrey, grandparents; Bernice and John Hebenton, Walter and Patricia (deceased) Piatocka, many aunts, uncles and cousins, his lifelong friend and cousin Myles Ross, his love Kylie Parker, the Fourneau Crƒrw, and many, many friends of Parksville and Campbell River. Also missing him are his friends in the fishing community and the Sparwood Coal Mines. HUNTER, Ronald March 16, 1930 - Aug 6, 2011 Sadly we announce the passing of our much loved husband, father and grandfather. Born in South Shields, England he immigrated to Canada in 1955 with his first wife Audrey, the mother of his four children. Ron was predeceased by his parents Cpt. James and Laura Hunter and his two sons Jason and Clive. He is survived by his amazing wife of 38 years, Terry, his son Phillip, daughter Melanie (Brian) and grandchildren Shannon, Shaun, Mason, Grady, Brianna and Cory, as well as great-grandchildren Kayden, Caylee and Terra. He spent his working life as a First Class Marine and Stationary Engineer in BC and AB, eventually retiring in 1990 to realize his dream of building his own home on acreage in Parksville. Ron¡¦s great pleasures in later life were his dogs Winkie and Jock and his three fingers of scotch at 4pm!! We would like to extend a special thank you for the compassionate care given by the Palliative Care Unit at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. IRELAND, Thomas John January 12, 1922 – October 30, 2011 Fulham, England – Parksville, B.C. Tom passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Respected, appreciated and deeply loved, he will be greatly missed. Tom served in both, the Royal Navy, and Royal Canadian Navy as well as Canada’s Department of National Defense. Tom was a Freemason, member of C-NAG (CDN. Naval Air Group), and a serving member of the Legion, Summing up his career life, with is his own consulting company that defined the man and his intentions, Quality Assurance, Quality First. With our deepest gratitude, The Ireland family JACK, David William Born August 17, 1931 - Leaving a unique mark in our hearts, Dave passed away quietly on April 2, 2011, at Stanford Place, Parksville, British Columbia. Beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle, David was the eldest sibling of five children. Prededeased by son Steven; sisters Valerie and Beverley, David is survived by his children; son David, daughter Kimberley and spouse Robert; son Robert and spouse Suzi; his grandchildren Jarvis, Alexandria, Carley and Dylan; brothers Ernest and James. Born in Hornepayne, Ontario to David and Gertrude Jack (nee Menard) he married Jean Alder (deceased) of Stratford, Ontario, together having four children. Having lived in Toronto, Windsor and Parksville, David was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion for over 50 years. His early career serving with the Royal Canadian Engineers was shortened when he suffered a car accident leaving David a paraplegic. Re-training and becoming a successful clock and watchmaker, David spent his life actively volunteering for the Royal Canadian Legion while advocating for the physically impaired. At the Royal Canadian Legion he held chairs within the Sports Committee, the Honours and Awards Committee and the Meat Draw Committee. During the early development of paraplegic sports David participated in the coordination of wheelchair basketball while participating in several walkathons to raise awareness of the needs of the physically impaired. David was loved by his children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews, friends and staff of Stanford Place and will be missed by everyone. A service will be held in honour of David at the Parksville Royal Canadian Legion, Tuesday April 12, 2011 at 1pm. JOHNSON, Lloyd Charles 1938 – 2011 Our beloved Lloyd, husband of 42 years to Vivian, father to Betty-Lou Faa (Allon) of Maple Ridge, BC, David Johnson (Lisa) of Vernon, BC, Debi Lyons (Robin) of Kamloops, BC and Laurie Proudfoot of Trail, BC, grandfather of 11 and great-grandfather of 11, all of whom adored him. He is also survived by his brothers Vern Johnson (Virginia) of Kelowna, BC and Gary Johnson (Marilyn) of Cassidy, BC. Lloyd was predeceased by his parents Casper and Lila Johnson. A big man with a love for any person or furry creature that needed help, he would pick a baby robin from the ground and carry it so gently…. He was one of those people that would give his shirt…. if only to help. Lloyd began his working career as a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers as a heavy equipment operator. It was his entrepreneur spirit and love of business that led him on a journey to own and operate Paving Companies, Hotels, Restaurant Franchises, and Night Clubs. He loved his work and it drove his passion to never quit. He was also successful in his journey of the heart with his adoring children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and Vivian, whose dedication kept it all ok. Lloyd loved the ocean, travelling to foreign countries, making smoked salmon in his great big smoker, Football, Hockey, Golf, Live Theatre, entertaining and having fun. Donations in Lloyd’s memory may be made to the North Island Wildlife Recovery Association, PO Box 364, Errington, BC V0R 1V0. ‘You left us too soon and will be sadly missed always’ JOMINI, Dorothy Munro 10 April 1918 - 24 Sept. 2011 Mrs. Dorothy Jomini quietly passed away at the Nanaimo Regional Hospital early Saturday morning. She is survived by two sons, David (Scynthia) living in Qualicum Beach, B.C. and grandchildren Adam and Amber Jomini, and by Gordon (Diane) in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Throughout her life she was very involved in the Methodist Church, which became part of the United Church of Canada. She was awarded the Lifetime Membership by the United Church Women’s Association. She moved from Grand’Mere, Quebec to Qualicum Beach, British Columbia in 2003. In Qualicum Beach, at Hawthorne Place and St. Stephen’s United Church, she made many friends. Social activities, game days, teas, and lunches at Cockney Pride were all special events. Wearing her Tilley hat, she was easily recognized about town by helpful staff at stores, the bank, and especially the library. Dorothy will be missed by her many friends and family. After a long active life she has gone to eternal rest. A memorial service will be held at St. Stephens United Church on Village Way, Qualicum Beach on Wednesday September 28 at 2:00 p.m. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of your choice, or the Community Meal Program at St. Stephens Church. JONES, Velda May We sadly announce the passing of our mother Velda on October 17, 2011 at the age of 84 years. She was predeceased by her husband Al, sister Mary and brother Jack. Surviving her are her children; son Gary (Linda), daughters Dianne (Cliff), Linda (Brian) and Susan (Gord), grandchildren Sharon (Darren), Alan (Sarah), Denise (Russ), Stephanie (Cliff), Mike (Erin), Jennifer (Will) and Kathleen, 13 great-grandchildren, sister Shirley (Jack), brother Larry (Lucy), brother-in-law Ernie, cousin Ken (Lill), several nieces and nephews and many special friends. Thank you to Dr. Henderson and to the nurses, doctors and staff of the 6th floor at NRGH. A private family service will be held at a later. LATHAM, Dianna Audrey January 27, 1987 - July 31, 2011 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Dianna on July 31, 2011 at the age of 24 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her mother Evelyn, step-father Don, siblings; Kenneth, Christine, Josh, Jennifer, Tim, Donny, Sarah, Jordan, and Carrie. Dianna was predeceased by her father Philip and will be missed by her many nieces, and nephews and her very close best friend Jessica. Dianna had a love of animals, and her dogs Bronx and Brooklyn had a very special place in her heart, and they will surely miss their ¡¥mom¡¦. Dianna was also a budding artist, taking time out of her day to sketch and draw. Yates Funeral Chapel, 2pm 1000 Allsbrook Road, Parksville LOUTIT, Edith Elizabeth (nee SCOTT) August 28, 1930 - January 21, 2011 Edie passed away peacefully at home after being diagnosed with cancer in November 2010. Edie was born in Vancouver, and graduated from McGee High School and from UBC. She worked as an Orthopedic Technologist at Seattle Orthopedic until marrying her long time love, Jim. They lived in Toronto, Edmonton and West Vancouver until retiring in Qualicum Beach. She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Christena Scott, and her sister Norma Olsen. She will be greatly missed by her husband James Irvine Loutit, her children, Christie Drewbrook (Cecil), Nance McDougall (Brent), and James Loutit (Sandy), her six grandchildren, Connie, Leah, Fiona, Josie, Alden, and Rowan, as well as all of her nieces and nephews. Edie was an active participant in her local golf clubs, Seymour, Eaglecrest, and Pheasant Glen. She enjoyed volunteering up Grouse Mountain with the Tyee Ski Club and in later years at the Qualicum Gardens. Edie was very involved in her grandchildren's lives and they all considered Nana and Papa's house their home away from home. She had many fond memories of ski and golf trips with close friends, bridge games, hosting Christmas and pool parties, and holidays down south. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Stephen's United Church, 150 Village Way, Qualicum Beach on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 2: 00 pm.
